I have started a new thread for all things Toast related !

@AmethystMoonShine - sashiko? I did it on some jeans once. It must look lovely!

IlovePond · 04/10/2025 17:21

@Chrestomanciscat - my DSIS had that one, (think she later sold it), and I vaguely remember it being quite tight-fitting so she sized up.

Stoic123 · 04/10/2025 17:21

Sale order of Flower Mountain sandals arrived. I can't get them to work for me either - my feet are too narrow. Back they go.

Stoic123 · 04/10/2025 17:24

@Chrestomanciscat - as Pond says, I had one in a different colour and needed to size up.

IlovePond · 04/10/2025 17:24

Annoying, isn’t it @Stoic123? I think they maybe work better for people with wider/bigger feet than mine, but I found those straps far too fiddly.

Such a shame as the footbed is so comfy.

OP posts:
Stoic123 · 04/10/2025 17:25

@IlovePond - yes, needs a wider foot than mine. Nice and light.

IlovePond · 04/10/2025 17:31

I also think they’d look less bulky on people with bigger feet than mine. My foot looked all strap!

Chrestomanciscat · 04/10/2025 17:52

Thank you IlovePond and Stoic123. I'll go for large cx

AmethystMoonShine · 04/10/2025 18:10

Yes @faustina Sashiko that sounds like it. If I remember, I’ll post a photo.

mizu · 04/10/2025 18:18

Think this is sashiko. A TOAST mend on my orange apron dress - so good.

Can someone tell me about the hand warmers. Do they have thumb holes? Only one pic on website and I can’t tell.

As for the FM sandals, I do have quite wide feet.

IlovePond · 04/10/2025 18:42

That’s very nice @mizu

OP posts:
AmethystMoonShine · 04/10/2025 19:03

It is very like yours @mizu but in blue. There is a piece of different fabric inside I guess to reinforce it (you can tell I know nothing about embroidery/fabric/sewing). I do admire it though.

faustina · 04/10/2025 20:08

@mizu - that is beautiful - far more beautiful than my lockdown attempt on a ripped jeans knee. It was fun to do though!

I hope the hand warmers have a thumb hole! Most of them seem to. I'll take a pic when they arrive

ShrankLastWinter · 04/10/2025 21:57

I’ve bought a few things recently and feel I owe the thread a report.

First the cashmere wrap which is often recommended here but didn’t appeal to me until it suddenly appeared in brown. A thing of bliss. Very useful for wearing with patterned clothes. I realized a lot of my scarves are patterned, which makes them good with plain jackets but not patterned ones, so this is a very good wardrobe addition.

Then I had a rare chance to visit a shop and intended to try some of the more fun stuff like the patterned skirts, but actually it was much plainer ‘basics’ (inverted commas to acknowledge mismatch between this description and the prices) which drew me and I think that was the right choice, since they make several outfits out of things I already have.

So various plain tops, including the half sleeve high neck one in blue, which is fab. I’m a smallish 14 and the M is just right for wearing with only a thin vest under. For wearing over a top, I’d need L.

Also the wide necked wool cashmere thin jumper in blue, and the rounded slightly less thin jumper in an orangey red, both of which will be good under jackets for the winter (which seems to be already upon us).

In sale got a pair of black jersey shorts and two nice vests (light brown, green and cream stripes) at very good prices, but for which I’ll have no use for at least 8 months.

Allwellthatendswell · 05/10/2025 07:57

@Chrestomanciscat I have this lovely jumper. Mine is the largest size but still pretty snug. I'm glad you asked as I'm going to wear it today!

OftenOrange · 05/10/2025 10:09

I’ve just received 20% off voucher from Toast ; to qualify I have 2 accounts because years back their system couldn’t handle bt e mail addresses.
I ended up using my secondary e mail which is now linked to Kindred and I don’t use the other one .
It’s the dormant account which has been showered with largesse !
Quandary now as I’m still abroad , back next week, and haven’t yet seen the couple of things I bought on sale.
I had thought that the new season didn’t inspire me particularly , if the sculptural seam jeans in indigo were available I’d snap them up.
Nevertheless I trawled the site and soon the basket reached ££££ which is ridiculous since I don’t need anything , I’m trying to be sensible here .
As the code is valid for a fortnight I’ll wait a while but meanwhile was wondering if anyone has tried :
Dark denim dungarees , they seem like a very different cut to the Jessa which I own and wear a lot .
Bleu de Chauffeur dark brown Musette satchel, any reports on how it wears ?

TosstTastic · 05/10/2025 11:19

Ok, how many of us have checked out spam for a code!
I got overexcited awhile ago, turned out Toast thought I was in Europe and took it's tithe via postage

faustina · 05/10/2025 11:22

@OftenOrange I have the smaller Bleu de Chauffe suede musette in tobacco and I gave DS2 the larger one in a dark khaki for his birthday (same as the one you're thinking of but they used to sell it at Mr Porter). It wears really well and looks lovely but it's not something either of us would reach for if there was rain in the forecast!

AmethystMoonShine · 05/10/2025 11:34

I’ve just taken a couple of photos of the sashiko mending on my dress.
It is one of the crinkle cotton dresses from, I think, last summer.

AmethystMoonShine · 05/10/2025 12:04

Not sure I managed to upload the images earlier. 2nd attempt!

That is a work of art @AmethystMoonShine !

OftenOrange · 05/10/2025 14:17

@mizu @AmethystMoonShine Thanks for sharing your sashiko repairs , they really enhance the garments .
I went to a Toast workshop at Soho House on Sashiko mending ages ago
I’ve used the method in an adapted form to mend some cashmere gloves from Brora.

@faustina Thanks for the weather warning ,although I’ve tried and love the Musette I so don’t need another bag that doesn’t do rain .

mizu · 05/10/2025 15:26

@AmethystMoonShine love! I’ve had a jumper mended too but a completely invisible mend on a seam.

BankfieldForever · 06/10/2025 14:09

My two sale parcels have gone back (a few days late as Storm Amy knocked our power line down for two days over the weekend. Living in N/E Scotland is lovely a lot of the time but the winters are brutal.

I kept the poplin - not poplin apron dress, which I love, and can hardly believe I got for £55 down from £185, and the linen check top, which is the kind of top I wear almost all the time so that was a great find.
