@ToastCosILoveIt The tank is stunning, and it’s so good to read a positive review for knitwear.

Agree with everyone who is put off buying because of prices. It seems to be universal , Plumo prices are even higher to say nothing of other labels I like , Sœur , Margaret Howell.
I’m happy with what I have and am not looking.
Even so I’m pondering the Chie Mihara boots , have ordered another pair as one boot was really creased even before trying on . I don’t like creases across footwear , it’s supposed to be a feature of fine soft leather but I think it also depends on batch .
I sent back the padded trousers as far too cropped for me and I’m over all that.

CashmereCat · 25/10/2025 11:42

Same here
Agree they have missed the point because I probably ended up looking at and buying more as a result.
there were whispers its a set up anyway as influencers always win

Im reeling at the new prices, Im just not paying for something I don't think is worth it.
If it was a handknit Fairisle which is literally hours and hours of skilled work, fine

A bog standard Manos jumper at over £400
Nope
Have been busy on Vinted( buying and selling) and busy knitting instead.

Edited

This isn’t a criticism of you at all but I find this funny - I’ve tried selling the professional quality handknit fairisle jumpers that I’ve taken about 60 hours to make and I’m lucky if I’m offered £20 for them, while second hand Toast and C&R go for hundreds.

Not a problem any more as I’ve got a shoulder injury that has stopped me knitting for good.

I totally agree about the prices this time, I usually buy quite a lot in the run up to Christmas but I’ll be buying nothing this year as they do seem too high compared to the normal price point.

CashmereCat · 26/10/2025 09:00

@BankfieldForever

Knitting for 51 years Grin
My GGM, GM, DM, all my DA and almost every woman I knew growing up were knitters, my DM had her own flock and produced her own yarn.

It's popular in the UK but in my DM country of birth, it's like breathing so was taught as a tiny girl.

I've had the " oooh make me one, here's £10 " so many times so I get it.

Im sorry you cant knit , are you a thrower or continental ?
I find colour work hard on my hands and it doesnt flow for me in the same way lace does.
Give me a complicated lace pattern and Im in heaven!!

ScottishMouse · 26/10/2025 14:38

I have just used the try before you buy option to order some trousers. I wanted to try a number of styles, colours, and sizes, so this seemed like a great option so I wouldn’t be out of pocket. Especially as I have found Toast to be slow on issuing refunds lately. I’ll report back on how it works out.

faustina · 26/10/2025 19:56

That's a very good idea @ScottishMouse . What did you order?

ScottishMouse · 26/10/2025 20:09

Nothing hugely exciting @faustina, just some replacement alix in indigo & slate cotton/linen, plus some gabis (in case my calves have miraculously slimmed down enough for gabis to work 😆). I also ordered the aster lyocell top in a couple of sizes.

faustina · 26/10/2025 20:11

Hope you find something that you like from the list - and do tell about how well the new system works!

Snowyowl78 · 27/10/2025 07:34

@ScottishMouse did you order the cord Gabis? They seem to be slightly longer length this time which I’m happier with I think.

ScottishMouse · 27/10/2025 08:03

I did order one pair of cord @Snowyowl78. The longer length is not good news for me, but maybe it means they are slightly less tight on the calves?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/10/2025 08:23

I’m trying it as well @ScottishMouse , I usually pay by PayPal but that option didn’t seem to be available. Also my items were still in my basket at the end of the transaction so I’m not sure I did everything correctly.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/10/2025 08:26

Also I’m wondering how the returns within 5 days work if Toast doesn’t acknowledge the return promptly.

Snowyowl78 · 27/10/2025 19:11

@ScottishMouse it might do as the hem is slightly lower

CakeAndJazz · 28/10/2025 16:24

Does anyone have the denim pleated trousers in black? I ordered one in my usual size and it feels enormous at 5’4. Just so voluminous everywhere.

Hi, I have these as a standard size 12 and have found the fit to be good for me. I really love them :)

TosstTastic · 28/10/2025 19:23

Here's what 400 quids worth of hand knitted wrap looks like with a £50 mongrel bonding with it.
I nabbed this off the reworn stock and obviously in this autumnal chill it's already seen daily service. Cost per wear already £40 and decreasing daily.

Has anyone one washed this?
I want to ignore the do not wash, iron on reverse side, unhelpful label.

Autumn leaves, colder days and Toasty talk!
CakeAndJazz · 28/10/2025 19:28

Thanks @TosstTastic. Are you similar in height too? I spotted them on the live and on socials, but the people wearing them are quite a bit taller than me. They have a really nice drape to them though - I’m wondering if I should try the size down, but then I might loose some of the effect of it.

TosstTastic · 28/10/2025 19:46

I'm 5'7" @CakeAndJazz the dog is probably 22 inches in a crufts table stance. We both rock the poncho but I'm thinking @ToastCosILoveIt is probably your trousers guru.
So tagging her for trousers jazz input.

faustina · 28/10/2025 19:50

@TosstTastic your dog looks very very happy. Can't answer your washing query but I have a very ancient Toast cashmere blanket which I use every single day as a wrap first thing in the morning. I once accidentally put it in my washing machine on a boil wash and it was absolutely fine!

Snowyowl78 · 28/10/2025 20:58

Is it this one @TosstTastic ? Can’t believe you got one on reworn! Very jealous.
I don’t really understand the cleaning guidance given here:

www.toa.st/blogs/magazine/the-making-of-our-check-merino-blend-wrap-scarf

TosstTastic · 28/10/2025 21:06

That's the one @Snowyowl78 .
Was lucky on the reworn. I'm hoping it will join the Oka blanket from 2001 and a superb one from a niche place in 2004.
Sometimes, something's, become literally pence per use.

OftenOrange · 28/10/2025 23:03

@TosstTastic The wrap looks beautiful with the dog , a great pairing !
What a great find and a forever piece to welcome in Winters.

ScottishMouse · 29/10/2025 06:24

Very annoyingly, my parcel of trousers has been stuck in Swansea since the weekend. Just checked the tracking again, hoping it might arrive today, but it’s still there. At least the try before you buy period doesn’t start until you receive it.

Hi, mine are a 12 and I am a pretty standard sized 12. They aren’t big, no, wide yes. They fit fairly perfectly around the waist (I am an apple shape) and finish about an inch above the ankle but I like that slightly cropped look. Some reviews have suggested they are too short, but not for me.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/10/2025 07:25

Primrosespaw · 25/10/2025 13:47

@CashmereCat I agree about the prices. Over 15 years shopping at Toast and have shifted most of my wardrobe over to Toast with a bit of Levi and independent makers at this point. I am glad I have, as I really can’t justify buying at these prices. There were some bargains in the last flash sale, hoping that will be a trend. I will now be strictly sale shopping only, which is a shame, as some pieces sell out quickly in my size. I do wonder how their sales will be impacted, if at all in any significant way.

Im the same. Sadly far too expensive for me. I am also disappointed in the knitwear. Most is uninspiring and I cannot believe the price of the alpaca cardigan. Its OTT.

CakeAndJazz · 30/10/2025 11:42

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt @TosstTastic I’ll have another try on today, possibly this time with boots and some knitwear to see if that looks any better. They’re really comfortable though, so hoping I can make them work.

And so glad the wrap is a hit @TosstTastic
