@ScottishMouse That's so annoying, I've had alterations not mentioned before.
Can you tell from their other items if you've bought from a organised reseller shop? If so, they might not know the original item, they're just moving whichever recognisable brands they can get their hands on. It doesn't change your immediate steps, but it might take away the sting of feeling you've been deliberately deceived by a private seller who changed/spoiled a Toast item then tried to offload it without alerting buyers. Which is the other option.
Request a refund using the official mechanism. Maybe describe the original item to help with their relisting. eBay is pretty much on the buyer's side now, so your refund will happen automatically even if the seller resists, I think?
It's sad that eBay is no longer a guaranteed and relatively hassle-free way to buy or sell second hand Toast though. Some transactions are just as smooth as they used to be. But then too many others are so fraught. Items not as described. Odd or unpleasant interactions. Items that just won't sell, despite being lower prices than would have been snapped up 5 years ago. It's exasperating and very off-putting.
