does anyone know if it’s possible to take the gabi trousers in on the bum area? I have a few pairs which are fine on the waist, thigh etc, but the bum area is really baggy! It’s a shame as they are perfect otherwise and puts me off wearing them with shorter tops. Would a tailor be able to do something like this?

Depending on the exact problem it might be possible to take in the back crotch seam a tiny bit but its not a common alteration as it would have a big impact on the overall fit and would affect the balance badly.

We were taught that a seat adjustment (essentially an invisible ‘dart’ on the centre of the pattern pieces, not the outer edges) in the same way as you’d do a bust adjustment - at the drafting stage - was the only way to address too much or too little fabric in this area.

Even though I’ve gone as far as completely recutting dresses to make them fit - personally I wouldn’t take this alteration on with a finished pair of trousers.

As ever though, this is the internet so its just an opinion. I’d advise taking them to a local tailor (a good one will have you try them on in the shop and make sure you’re happy with what they propose to do) just to see what they say.

AmethystMoonShine · 23/10/2025 13:29

@TosstTastic I also popped on to mention the restock on reworn. I got a Freya dress in Indigo - fingers crossed it'll be in good condition. Hope you love your wrap.

BankfieldForever · 23/10/2025 15:00

Nothing on reworn for me, really only 6’s and 16’s left now.

The ribbon print dress is nice and would fit me but I wouldn’t have an occasion to wear it and living in the country it couldn;t be an every day piece - I have to remind myself that I just sold my Mila Dress on ebay because I find I don’t reach for rayon.

I’ve also got my lovely jumbo cord pinafore on ebay as its been quite a shopping heavy year and I now have too many dresses 😈

sigh.

CakeAndJazz · 23/10/2025 16:39

That’s so funny @TosstTastic I was about to check out with that wrap in my basket when it disappeared! Now I know who the culprit is :) :) :)

TosstTastic · 23/10/2025 16:44

I went back @CakeAndJazz and some bugger snippd the tie stripe trousers I needed having literally worn out my full price original pair (2020 ISH). They were finally ragged after being declared unfit for even gardening.

If any of you lot decide to return them, let me know.

Snowyowl78 · 23/10/2025 17:20

@BankfieldForever thank you for the info! That’s very helpful.

mizu · 23/10/2025 17:51

And I was looking at that Freya dress @AmethystMoonShine 😁 you’ve got to be quick on Reworn.

AmethystMoonShine · 23/10/2025 18:25

Sorry @Mizu.... I nearly dithered and then remembered how fast the restock usually vanishes!

mizu · 23/10/2025 18:28

@AmethystMoonShine no worries, I was at work, took a quick scroll then instantly forgot about it. There wasn’t much else on there this time.

Countmeout · 23/10/2025 19:22

And I was out as usual 🫤

WoolerOwl · 24/10/2025 08:05

Long time lurker on this thread, and always very grateful for your wisdom and shrewd fashion sense.

Can I ask, does anyone have this, and does it actually soften with washing? I’m not very good with scratchy wool but would wear a long sleeve t or maybe polo underneath.

BankfieldForever · 24/10/2025 09:48

@WoolerOwl

Hello! I think if you’re one of those people who has to ask ‘is this wool soft?’ The answer for British wool has to be no it isn’t, and you will find it scratchy. That being the case it won’t change with washing and you’ll have wasted your money.

Overall Softening of the garment may happen after a lot of washing but you’ll probably never find it comfortable if you’re at all wary of wool.

If I were you, I wouldn’t. Opinion formed by being a long time knitter of fairisle sweaters and someone who can wear the harshest of wool.

WoolerOwl · 24/10/2025 13:10

Thank you @BankfieldForever ! I may try it on in the shop, but I will be very cautious indeed.

AmethystMoonShine · 25/10/2025 06:25

The Christmas prize draw is back….. but I am so sad the bundles are pre chosen. I used to get such joy from choosing my wish list from the selection for those four weeks each year. I also loved the chat on here as we took it very seriously making and sharing our wish lists.

ScottishMouse · 25/10/2025 07:14

I agree @AmethystMoonShine. Although I do love both the skirt and the shirt chosen this week. The homeware items would not be my choice, but would make lovely gifts.

mizu · 25/10/2025 07:15

@AmethystMoonShine agree totally, was such a lovely collection of beautiful things each time and now we have someone else choose them!

TosstTastic · 25/10/2025 09:18

After a long week in daytime corduroy and my evening Kantha pinafore, I welcome the weekend in swishy silk.
Food and drink change from sustaining to entertaining.
I had some friends around a few weekends ago, the hospitality effort was so worth it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/10/2025 09:22

Oh, hadn’t noticed the harper button @Snowyowl78 , will look.

I ordered and received the https://www.toa.st/products/mohair-cotton-lace-cable-tank-oil mohair cotton lave cable tank in oil (dark green) from the new drop. It is lovely and a keeper, will be good over Toast lighter wear stuff when it gets colder/

Mohair Cotton Lace Cable Tank | Oil

Snowyowl78 · 25/10/2025 09:55

@ToastCosILoveIt i want that tank too! What’s the sizing like?

faustina · 25/10/2025 10:36

I was given the big vase recently (to match the glasses) - it's a beautiful colour. It was fun to pick the things we'd like to win!

Stravaig · 25/10/2025 11:11

@AmethystMoonShine Oh no, that's such a shame! It was a lovely wee ritual, choosing our items and variations thereof - and looking them all up to do so, silly Toast, losing that - then sharing them here.

It's more influencer culture bollocks isn't it? We're not supposed to have minds of our own any more.

It should make for fewer submissions though, and a greater chance of winning for those that like the chosen bundle items.

I'd like the teardrop garland, but green not amber glasses, and the clothes colour palette is hideous for me. So that's one fewer entry already.

Good luck everyone else!

Same here
Agree they have missed the point because I probably ended up looking at and buying more as a result.
there were whispers its a set up anyway as influencers always win

Im reeling at the new prices, Im just not paying for something I don't think is worth it.
If it was a handknit Fairisle which is literally hours and hours of skilled work, fine

A bog standard Manos jumper at over £400
Nope
Have been busy on Vinted( buying and selling) and busy knitting instead.

Snowyowl78 · 25/10/2025 09:55

@ToastCosILoveIt i want that tank too! What’s the sizing like?

Hi @Snowyowl78 , I would say it is true to size, roomy but not too oversized. I bought a medium and I am a standard size 12 with 32e cup boobs.

Snowyowl78 · 25/10/2025 12:27

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks! I thought maybe it came up small because the model is in a S and XS and XXS is available. It looks very cosy!

Primrosespaw · 25/10/2025 13:47

@CashmereCat I agree about the prices. Over 15 years shopping at Toast and have shifted most of my wardrobe over to Toast with a bit of Levi and independent makers at this point. I am glad I have, as I really can’t justify buying at these prices. There were some bargains in the last flash sale, hoping that will be a trend. I will now be strictly sale shopping only, which is a shame, as some pieces sell out quickly in my size. I do wonder how their sales will be impacted, if at all in any significant way.
