Winter day dresses - suggestions and styling

What are you buying? Particularly interested in something suitable for large boobs - so needs some shape and a flattering neckline.

Then how do you style it? Belt to break it up? Scarf or long necklace? I'm keen on chunkier boots, knee length or DM type. I feel a dress makes footwear a significant feature so maybe more interesting is better?

so i keep hearing that burgundy is in this season and it really suits me but struggling to find anything to wear! M&S / Next type budget, nothing frilly or flouncy, suit a shirt dress.....

@ThatGlimmeringSea , try M&S - there's a Nobody's Child one on there.
Otherwise do a search on burgundy shirt dress.

@NormaSars i've been through the thread and nothing is really taking my fancy. I don't fancy cord, i want something for work ideally.

@MiddleAgedDread Try looking for colours like plum, blackberry or dark red.

the whistles one is quite nice but a bit pricey, I like shorter sleeves or the option to role them up. I need to go shopping, just lacking in time!

Thank you. I usually live in jeans but I’m keen to try something different and cord seems like a good weighty fabric for the colder months.

@ThatGlimmeringSea ,I didn't like the Kaffe one. It's polyester.
If you find all black too drab, add a scarf or something.

Great thread...I wear dresses every day in the summer and think there's such a variety and so many options..but I have always found day winter dresses impossible to find. So often they end up looking like office wear

Sadly both Boden and Nobody’s Child dresses were truly awful on me: ageing and frumpy. Aargh. It shouldn’t be this hard ☹️

After this link was shared I saved it, and I just went back to organising my links and saw it was half price so bought it. It is thinner than my similar Boden one and no pockets, but I really really like it, and the slight sheen of the fabric makes it look almost like silk. It fits perfectly and I feel it's quite flattering.
I'm trying to think what to wear on my legs over the colder days. I'm still trying to find some new knee high boots (I know some people don't like knee high with longer skirts and dresses, but mid calf do no suit me) so was thinking if tights would work with my mid grey adidas Campus trainers, and if so what ones? I usually just wear opaque black but have some deep blue and some dusky purple ones.

This is a steal at £14! It's such a lovely dress, and I wish it had pockets :-) I will wear mine with opaque black tights (but might dig out my patterned purple ones if I'm feeling bold) and chunky (not quite knee high) biker boots, or Chelsea boots I think the trainers would would work well in the warmer months, without tights- I can't visualise a colour tights to go with your campus trainers. What about a pair of DM shoes Chelsea boots or similar? I'm sure there's many style gurus on here who will be able to advise!
