Who’s in?

I have so much stuff to sell.

I have too many clothes. So I don’t wear any of it, because I’m overwhelmed. Less would definitely be more for me. If I could see all my clothes hanging up nicely I could actually see what I have and figure out what to wear. 50% needs to go.

I am holding on to old high heeled shoes as they remind me of a time I was young, attractive, worked in the City and had the world at my feet. I never wear them now, but struggle to get rid.

Please come and join me as I try to create wardrobe space & raise funds for Christmas.

I am in. I listed and sold my first item today, a weird cape style coat I never wore!

I’ve lost 3 and a half stone this year so most of my clothes need to go really and I’ve bought a lot of clothes from Vinted for the new slimmer me so I need to get rid of the old stuff and hopefully raise a bit of money in the process.

I'm not very organized but I will try and get some more items listed at the weekend. I’ve got so many evening dresses in size 18 that I have bought for cruises and they are now ridiculously oversized for me so I need to start listing those!

AlphaApple · 17/09/2025 20:48

Literally 75% of my clothes are on Vinted at any one time. If I don’t absolutely LOVE it then I list it. It’s very, very liberating not having a load of clothes hanging around making you feel bad.

GoGoFloFlo · 17/09/2025 20:48

Well done on the weight loss @Doyouthinktheyknow

I have lost a stone, which doesn’t sound much but it has made the difference between feeling a bit yuk about myself to feeling more positive & interested in clothes and fashion again!

Love this approach @AlphaApple

I aim to only keep things I LOVE

I’m in. I’ve lost 2 stone from being unwell and having to make dietary changes but actually feel much better for it. I’m determined to keep most of the weight off when I’ve had surgery so I want to clear some of the frumpy stuff I won’t wear!! Plus I have loads of kids clothes to sell.

readingmakesmehappy · 17/09/2025 21:04

As someone who's sold over 250 items on Vinted (kids outgrowing stuff, decluttering before moving house), my top tip for selling kids clothes is to list multiple items in the same size, or which are quite similar. It makes the postage more worthwhile if you can buy a bundle of things.

TheOGCCL · 17/09/2025 21:39

I got my winter things out and sold a coat and a cardigan. I’ve realised it can be hard to part with stuff as obviously it’s almost right or you wouldn’t have bought it in the first place. I tend to price quite low because it’s still more than the nothing I’m getting with unworn stuff just sitting there. I do need to withdraw the balance though because otherwise I will be back at square one.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 17/09/2025 21:46

Also got my winter stuff pit, listed a skirt that got snapped up immediately, so probably could have got more for it! Also listed a shirt thats too oversized for me.

I'm umming about listing a merino wool fine knit polo jumper. On one hand its really warm but I don't think I look good in polo necks, I'm also not out in the cold as much for work. I should probably pass it on.

GoGoFloFlo · 17/09/2025 22:27

I sold 2 Passenger fleeces the same day I listed them and a Mint Velvet coat literally within seconds.

Could have possibly got more but happy with what I got and just want to shift stuff!

Another part of my project is wearing things I haven’t worn for ages and deciding if I love them enough to keep. Today I’m just in leggings and an active top (going to gym) but they both fit well and flatter so I’m keeping

I’ve sold four things this week. Summer stuff that was too big. Just need to sort the posting it off now!

SallyDraperGetInHere · 18/09/2025 07:58

Do you price really low? I find it hard to put nice stuff up for almost nothing and they end up languishing unsold … like how much would you have put the Mint Velvet coat for @GoGoFloFlo ?

Tinseltrauma · 18/09/2025 08:08

I do that too @GoGoFloFlo ! And then list it while I still remember why I don't like it!

Whateverwillwedonow · 18/09/2025 08:13

I’m the same @GoGoFloFlo , need to clear the floordrobe.

I listed 6 items on Monday and have sold 3. Lots of likes on a couple of other items. I think I’ll wait until next Monday and drop the price a little (although it’s already cheap but I want it all gone).

blizymitzy · 18/09/2025 08:16

I’m joining you.
dd3 has sold so much this summer while home from uni and I’ve dabbled with selling bits but now she’s heading back for year 2 I’m going to really focus on sorting out my weight and my wardrobe before dd2’s wedding next year .

Misstabithabean · 18/09/2025 08:22

I'm in! I've never sold on there before but have loads of children's clothes and toys to get rid of. I started photographing yesterday and want to do more today before listing.

I always try to remind myself that it’s better to make something rather than nothing. If I’m not going to wear it and it’s just taking up space then I might as well make something to put towards something I will use.

I realised a few months ago that I had a bit of a vinted spending problem so made a deal with myself that I could only spend what I earn on there 😂 it’s working really well and I’ve realised that I don’t really want or need anything.

HeidiLite · 18/09/2025 08:31

I've lost 3 stone this year. My entire winter wardrobe will need to be vinted.
I can't be arsed with low value items though - often people still haggle or ask a million questions, I don't have the time or energy.

Has anybody done bundles/sets of lower value items, do they sell? Or you will get again buyers asking to remove one item and measure the rest..

minipoodlemum · 18/09/2025 09:51

I am in. I have lost 3.5 stone this year (thank you MJ!) and my old size 14/16s are swamping me. I have a wardrobe full of Hobbs and Boden dresses and a garage full of lovely heels. My balance is £57 at the moment, I am looking forward to raising this and decluttering my house.

I just listed small bundles of pyjama bottoms for £2.50. They were nice brands and could have gone in the charity bag but, you know, if I can get 20 x £2.50 bundles it’s £50 towards my new wardrobe. Anyway, they sold almost immediately.

Cantonet · 18/09/2025 10:19

I've sorted through my winter clothes & have a bundle for ebaying.I'm used to eBay & it's easier not to change. I made around £800 selling summer items earlier this year.

BestIsWest · 18/09/2025 10:42

Can I ask some advice? I’ve bought off Vinted but never sold. Might sound stupid. I’m probably overthinking as usual.

I have some beautiful Seasalt boots I want to sell, I’ve worn them twice so they’re in very good nick, a tiny scratch maybe. I no longer have the box, do people expect shoes to be sent in boxes or will bubble wrap do? What do you use to wrap things in?

BadAmbassador · 18/09/2025 10:50

I love Vinted and buy and sell regularly.
I beg anyone planning to sell to please put the material of the item! So many people don’t but for me it’s usually the first thing I look at and I’ll have to message to ask if it’s not listed - or will just skip over.

I wish there was an option to indicate fit ie petite etc, so that I could search by that criteria. It’s so hit and miss what the search engine will pick up otherwise.

Any box is the best option but otherwise very good bubble wrapping/layers or protection/keeping the shape of the boots is fine.

@SallyDraperGetInHere sometimes it might be the wrong season for an item or too many people selling similar - try hiding it for a couple of weeks and then unhiding. Or delete and repost a few weeks later as creating a new post probably generates more exposure.
