Who’s in?

I have so much stuff to sell.

I have too many clothes. So I don’t wear any of it, because I’m overwhelmed. Less would definitely be more for me. If I could see all my clothes hanging up nicely I could actually see what I have and figure out what to wear. 50% needs to go.

I am holding on to old high heeled shoes as they remind me of a time I was young, attractive, worked in the City and had the world at my feet. I never wear them now, but struggle to get rid.

Please come and join me as I try to create wardrobe space & raise funds for Christmas.

I lost my wife recently, and at some point will have to do something with her clothes. She had some (at least in my humble opinion) very nice clothes.

Is it easy to use Vinted? I am not quite ready to go through them just yet, but over the winter I may start.

I would like to see them go to a good home and the charity shops here are so full of clothes they've stopped taking them, or become too fussy.

AugustMounjaroTeam · 18/09/2025 11:00

Six stone off for me in the past year, so have more or less started my wardrobe from scratch. Have both sold and bought loads on Vinted, love it. Everything in my wardrobe now fits, has a purpose and I love it - for the first time in my adult life! I am also being very strict about what I buy, making sure it works with what I've got.

I don't normally list things at the prices Vinted suggests. A lot of what I am selling are reasonably popular brands and they sell quite well. Whether I accept offers depends on the mood I'm in and on whether I already have things to take to the lockers.

One of the spare bedrooms is the Vinted room, and woe betide the husband if he wrecks my system of what has been listed, what is to list, and what is for clothes bank ... 😆

I am sorry to hear about your wife. When you’re ready please feel free to ask questions about brands/styles if we can help you to list things. For me, I like to see the material, length from shoulder to hem, waist measurement and photos of the back
and front. Also the label as sometimes it will be Tall or Petite which makes a huge difference to me as I have a long torso and short legs.

Thank you. Hopefully the thread won't fill up too soon, but I'll be back on in a few weeks.

I am in. I have lost 3.5 stone this year (thank you MJ!) and my old size 14/16s are swamping me. I have a wardrobe full of Hobbs and Boden dresses and a garage full of lovely heels. My balance is £57 at the moment, I am looking forward to raising this and decluttering my house.

Same! I’m four stone down. The point above about something being better than nothing is a good one.

I have a pair of jeans that I slightly altered. I wonder, if I add the actual measurements would they still be saleable?

AlphaApple · 18/09/2025 13:46

@SallyDraperGetInHere sometimes it might be the wrong season for an item or too many people selling similar - try hiding it for a couple of weeks and then unhiding. Or delete and repost a few weeks later as creating a new post probably generates more exposure.

Just FYI the delete and re-post trick could lead to your account being banned/deleted.

I have sold things that I've had professionally altered - was just clear about it and gave the measurements post-alteration.

I just sold a mint velvet denim shirt for £10 , I see someone else has one on for £20, I also have a pair of gabor suede ankle boots paid £90 for, only worn twice they hurt my toes, every time I list I get lots of views but no one buys I'm only asking £40

GoGoFloFlo · 18/09/2025 22:19

So sorry to hear that @HappiestSleeping . I do find Vinted easiest to use

Not if you first crop the photos, then it thinks it's a new listing. Try it 😁

Howmanyroses · 18/09/2025 22:45

I've been on Vinted almost right from the very start. I mostly love it, there are some frustrating experiences but you cant always expect things to be perfect. I find that certain brands or styles fetch full price even compared with RRP. Things that were made just a few years ago were much better quality compared with what's out there today so people are prepared to pay more. Yuu also have to cultivate a lot of patience and push back on unreasonable offers. Eventually someone comes along and either buys full price or close to. And don't be afraid to put the price up a bit, by say 10 or even 20%, as people will be making offers and then you can ensure you get the price you wanted in the first place

I think you're pricing those boots too highly. That's almost half price and people won't pay it.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 19/09/2025 17:20

I’ve made about £300 on Vinted recently. My prices are low because I figure if I was going to give it away anyway then something is better than nothing.

I always photograph the front and back of the item of clothing, the label, size label and care label as well as any faults. If shoes I photograph the top, both sides of both shoes and both soles.

Khayker · 19/09/2025 18:51

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I've had things listed on Vinted for weeks and not a sniff of a buyer, many people liked/favored what I'm advertising but only sold one item so far out of ten. I've lost a lot of weight (6 stone) so none of the clothes I'm trying to sell are near to fitting me. Not sure anyone has any strategies for Vinted, but I've dtopped the price on several items and still nothing. Quite a few of the items still have the tags on as they've never been worn and I'm not asking much, £10 for a new dress, £5 for a new jumper etc. Not sure what to do next?? Any suggestions for me and everyone else trying to sell?

anon2022anon · 19/09/2025 19:03

I've sold tons on Vinted. Last year my target was 50 items a month. This year is 30 items a month (busy year personally) and I've hit it consistently so far. I'm in with joining in here, but also happy to give a few tips.

try to list 2-3 items a day, over the course of an hour, every day, rather than 15 things at once. If you want to do all the work at once, save them as drafts and publish them sporadically. This bumps you up Vinteds algorithm.

List similar items at the same time, and write in the listing to check out your wardrobe for more similar items.

If people favourite 2-3 items, message and tell them you'll offer X as a bundle price.

WITHDRAW YOUR MONEY STRAIGHT AWAY FROM VINTED!

Price higher than you think, unless you literally need the item out that day. People don't value cheap, they think there's a reason for it. Send offers out with 10% off instead.

Don't stress when people inevitably comment on here and say 'what about the tax?'. You aren't buying to resell or selling for profit. You don't need to pay tax on this.

Size wise, I personally find it better to add 'fits like size xx' in the title, then in the comments say size label says xx, I found it fits more like xx, please ask for measurements. Put a picture of the size label.

@lindyloo57 you aren't pricing the boots too high. For £90 I would be writing the RRP and worn twice in the title, listing for £50, and sending out offers for £45 to those who favourite them. Gabor is a brand that sells eventually, for a good price, but not instant. Write key words in the listing- autumn, transitional, suede, comfy, padded, etc.

lindyloo57 · 19/09/2025 19:59

I've had things on ebay for weeks, like oasis jeans in great condition asking £5 and they still don't sell, well I did sell one pair and she left a great review, I won't list for any less, it doesn't seem worth it.

Interesting you say to withdraw money from Vinted straight away, why do you say this?

Howmanyroses · 19/09/2025 20:34

In addition to what was said above, I find that lower end of the high street fashion and anything from supermarkets doesn't sell well, unless you literally put everything up for £3-4. Anything too patterned our obviously not in style doesn't sell. So you may have a £10 dress with tags, but would anyone wear it? It will sell if it's still in style. Otherwise you are going to have to lower the price and simply donate. Brands that sell well are Cos, Arket, Massimo Dutti, Whistles, Jigsaw - the more premium end of high street command higher prices. Zara and H&M sell but at much lower price point

anon2022anon · 19/09/2025 20:38

Because Vinted have been known to close or put a hold on accounts, and your money is stuck in there with no way to access it. Vinted are quite well known for being hard to get hold of.
I've also recently seen a Tiktok where a lady used her Vinted balance to pay for something, the payment failed, and her money disappeared into the ether. She was posting 8 days later, with still no sign of the money.

I have a starling/ Monzo account that's purely my Vinted money, the money is in your account within 10 minutes normally. I have that card linked to my Vinted, so any purchases come straight back out.

anon2022anon · 19/09/2025 20:41

@lindyloo57 are you using the right keywords? If the oasis jeans are skinny jeans, they're going to struggle to go, but if you're adding words like 00s, 90s, vintage, millennial, they should get seen quite a lot. eBay I find things take months to shirt, if at all.

notnorman · 19/09/2025 21:41

Ty for reminding me I’ve left all my shorts in my house abroad and I’m going on holiday elsewhere next month. Just bought 6 pairs of shorts for a few quid each!

NippyNinjaCrab · 19/09/2025 21:45

I've nothing left to sell and I am now buying some items because I literally have nothing to wear! I've lost 3.5 stone and all my clothes i didn't sell hang off me. Any size 12's on the go send me the details 😂

Punkkatkitty · 19/09/2025 21:53

Started Vinting in June, have sold 243 items and made £1250. I sell cheap and fast. If
