Who’s in?

I have so much stuff to sell.

I have too many clothes. So I don’t wear any of it, because I’m overwhelmed. Less would definitely be more for me. If I could see all my clothes hanging up nicely I could actually see what I have and figure out what to wear. 50% needs to go.

I am holding on to old high heeled shoes as they remind me of a time I was young, attractive, worked in the City and had the world at my feet. I never wear them now, but struggle to get rid.

Please come and join me as I try to create wardrobe space & raise funds for Christmas.

Wow!! Any side effects or anything else undesirable?

‘Mild and transient’ for me.

The first month dose of 2.5mg is to get your body used to it. I had wind and burps and some discomfort as the effect is to slow the contents of the gut transit down for a day or so after each dose in the first 3 weeks. Then it subsided. There are other side effects so read up on it.

For me the ‘food noise’ switched off overnight as did my nightly wine habit. I also had bad gum disease requiring hygienest visits every 3 months and that’s resolved overnight. Have a read of the WLI threads on here.

I've been listing stuff on vinted recently, I've made £400, although over £200 of that was from beauty product sales.

First I sold clothes and a pair of boots that I'd never worn and still had tags on, then moved onto worn clothes but still in good condition, just too big or not what I want to wear. Most of my clothes are river island, zara, primark, m&s or supermarkets. I've sometimes listed primark and supermarket clothes for just a quid each, if I'm going to the locker then it's OK, but today someone bought some leggings for a quid and now I need to go and send them when I've no other reason to go. I might have to find more clothes to sell tomorrow. I literally have clothes everywhere 😳

LadyClumber · 01/10/2025 04:23

I recently bought an item described as ‘new without tags’ which clearly was well worn (ie extensive bobbling, food stains and holes). The seller agreed to a return with full refund. The item was sent back and has been with the Seller’s Evri pick up point for a week now. What happens if they don’t pick up the returned item? Do I still get my refund?

HeidiLite · 01/10/2025 07:56

Oh and for buying, my Vinted is now full of Shein stuff that has been listed under made up brand names, with AI photos, of course for several times the original price. Hope Vinted sorts that out soon!

@BadAmbassador I'm so sorry -darn autocorrect (and my bad eyesight as I was typing on a phone and couldn't read what was being posted!) - but I have NO IDEA what I was trying to say other than it wasn't this '... it’s very frustrating as it’s hard to price your innocence.'
Mind you, obviously it IS hard to price your innocence😂but clearly I was meaning something else (now long forgotten).
Hope things have sorted themselves in your favour x

Sold a few more bits today, it’s so satisfying!

I do have far too many clothes and if I think too hard about what I paid versus what I’m listing them for, it gets me down but that’s a lesson for me in itself! I’m hoping it will make me think a bit more before I buy clothes in the future!

I also bought a dress on Vinted that arrived in a clinical waste bag😂 As a nurse, that made me chuckle. Beautiful formal dress for cruising, just over £10! Complete bargain!

I’ll list some more bits at the weekend. Thankfully DH is retired so he can do the parcel drops while I work.

Betsylee · 03/10/2025 15:43

I've sold about eight or ten clothing items, they were easy transactions and have bought too, but been disappointed with some, had to have a refund for a new coat, this was in dreadful condition, took photos and was refunded but other clothing I've binned.
As an older lady I really wish now I hadn't got rid of so much clothing, it was generally storage being the issue but should have put stuff up in the loft.
I'm now waiting on a jumper that is on way back to the sender so hoping she will repost or I'll have to go for a refund.

I just listed small bundles of pyjama bottoms for £2.50. They were nice brands and could have gone in the charity bag but, you know, if I can get 20 x £2.50 bundles it’s £50 towards my new wardrobe. Anyway, they sold almost immediately.

I listed nightwear a couple of months ago and it sold really quickly. I was surprised because it's not something I'd buy pre-owned.

I do agree with you, lots of small sales make up a decent amount of money.

I lost my wife recently, and at some point will have to do something with her clothes. She had some (at least in my humble opinion) very nice clothes.

Is it easy to use Vinted? I am not quite ready to go through them just yet, but over the winter I may start.

I would like to see them go to a good home and the charity shops here are so full of clothes they've stopped taking them, or become too fussy.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

If she wore clothes from the likes of SeaSalt, Joules, then I found they sold very quickly when we worked through my mum's wardrobe.

Thank you. I am still sorting through. There is only so much I can cope with at a time, so just moving it all to one place is good for the moment.

I will start looking for makes though, that is a good shout.

After the initial 'sort out' (which was mainly handbags) it was a full year before my dad was ready to really let things go. Be gentle on yourself.

@HappiestSleeping I am so sorry for your loss.

When you are ready it is possible to donate by post. All you need to do is log on to the charities websites to download an address label and then package up clothes in one of their bags (comes in the post) or use one of your own.

Many charities will sell online directly, as well, as their stores can get full. Try Oxfam, Cancer Research, Salvation Army, British Heart Foundation, Age UK, Bernardo’s etc. Some will also arrange to collect from your home via the Royal Mail.

Its also hard to physically take your loved ones clothes to a shop and tough if it’s local and these clothes then end up on a display on a mannequin in the shop windows (this happened to me).

Edited

Harder still to drive past the back of the shop and see half of the items you donated in the skip. This happened to my patents after my DGF died. Beautiful quality, hardly worn men's clothes.

I have just done a first pass of the wardrobe. Now I have a big blue ikea bag full of things that don’t fit! I’m going to save the summer stuff for selling on next year. But for now I can list the jeans, along with a few other more seasonal items.

I’ll be doing that in a couple of weeks, next time I have a weekend off.

AugustMounjaroTeam · 06/10/2025 10:09

If you’re in the mood for listing, I think it’s worth listing decent summer stuff anyway - people go on winter sun holidays too, and obviously it’s hard to shop for them at this time of year. I’ve sold summer stuff this week.

That's good to know, I've put my summer stuff that I want to sell, away for now, but I might list some of it and see if it sells. If it doesn't, I can always delete next month then relist next year 😊

That is a really good point! Thanks!

I’ll get listing next week…
