If you’re a Scandi architect type of dresser, what would you wear to an October wedding?

I’ve lost quite a bit of weight recently and look alright in clothes again now but have lost my way, style-wise as I’m used to hiding away. Got a friend’s wedding in October and would like to look half decent.

I’m size 10/12, 5’8” tall and wide-shouldered so can’t wear dainty things (really not a dainty type of person) or anything too fitted on top. Cos type clothes suit me but so many of them are black which isn’t great for a wedding.

Would consider hiring something good and would probably need to then buy shoes or boots. Happy to spend some money, even happier if I don’t have to!

Is Scandi Architect a thing? I've never heard of this and have no idea what one would look like. I'll be interested to see what people suggest.

I would wear a large shapeless toast type dress in either colour block or simple print and then dress it up with some excellent jewellery

You can apparently rent

Cecilie Bahnsen clothes from all the usual places:

Selfridges
Hurr
By Rotation
My Wardrobe HQ

You might prefer the separates (which can look surprisingly tough) to the ethereal dresses.

Why not look at some Scandi brands like GANNI, Essentiel Antwerp, Baum and Pfergarten and see if anything takes your fancy. Some of these sell through the Outnet so you can pick up a bargain.

EscapadeVelocity · 11/09/2025 20:11

It’s true Essential Antwerp has some great dresses at the moment.

GimmieABreakOr3 · 11/09/2025 20:32

I’d go for a lovely simple jumpsuit to be honest 🤍

Tootingbec · 11/09/2025 20:37

Going to be a pedant but isn’t Antwerp in Belgium? So would classify as Belgium Architect vibes? 😬

I sell a lot of Toast, but I don't think it's special enough for a wedding, but you know the venue etc. I love a Sahara Cocoon dress, also Lily Pulitzer has lovely occasion dresses and Essentiel Antwerp is fab this season. I also like pretty much everything already recommended

This is perfect, I love it. It’s not too sombre for a wedding, is it?

I like it, but it looks a bit work-y?

bigwhitedog · 11/09/2025 23:02

Am i out of touch or is this too casual for a wedding? and ugly, but I'm willing to accept that's a matter of opinion.
