It's just not possible to look slim and elegant with big boobs is it

I saw an article about Kelly Brook, she has a new business venture so is posting a lot on social including a post today of her cycling in a bikini! I think she's facially really beautiful and although she's put on some weight since her lads mag days I wouldnt call her especially large. But because she has big boobs that's all you see and it gives the impression she's bigger than she is.

It's so depressing as a fellow big-boobed person. I am overweight and nowhere near as pretty but I feel even if/when I lose weight I'll never really look slim or stylish.

Is there any way round this? Minimiser bras are awful and normal ones are hideously uncomfortable. I'm tired of either looking tarty or matronly.

I think you definitely need to wear v neck tops!! Always!!!!
Never dresses, but two pieces, so you can get a good fit top and bottom.
Standing up tall with shoulders back also makes a huge difference.
I also find some kind of heel/ platform shoe, even if trainers helps. It adds height.
I say this as a 5’2 32HH size 12 fellow sympathiser

Belladog1 · 05/09/2025 13:44

I agree. I have 38H boobs, and I spend my life in baggy clothes as nothing fits. If I wear a dress or top that is fitted, I find that most men address my boobs and not my eyes.

Me too.
I hate my boobs, I never look neat and tidy because having big boobs.

Applepe · 05/09/2025 13:48

Yeah, I hate having my picture taken, because I always look ‘matronly’ these days. I know I’ll look and feel better if I lost some weight, which I am working towards. Meno belly doesn’t help!

GiantMoa · 05/09/2025 13:54

I think you can if very slim but it is harder. I'm a size 8/10 with 30FF boobs and still look slim (though with massive boobs) when I'm at my ideal weight. I have a very small frame so my ideal weight is at the lower end of my BMI range. It only takes half a stone weight gain though (which all goes on my waist/upper hips) and I start to look lumpy and matronly. It also helps that I'm tall (5' 9").

I never look elegant but that's more to do with my personality and wild hair than anything else though.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 05/09/2025 14:00

The options are:

a) hide boobs and look two to three dress sizes bigger

b) dress to fit boobs and become a pair of tits on legs, attracting attention you don’t want

I’ve seriously considered a reduction but I don’t think I REALLY want one. I certainly don’t want the scars and nipple repositioning!

So I guess it’s secret boobs, look like matron for me!

LhudeSingCuccu · 05/09/2025 14:06

My friend has the same issue. She’s big busted like Kelly, but slim. She has to be so careful about that she wears and regardless, her boobs make her look somewhat matronly. She plans on a reduction before she’s 55.

Onlythecrumbliest · 05/09/2025 14:07

I agree with you. I can't speak for everyone, but if I see someone who I think looks very elegant they are always slim. I see people of all shapes and sizes and sometimes think they look so stylish, well put together, glamorous etc, but elegant to me usually equates with slender.

PollyannaGladGame · 05/09/2025 14:12

I agree, I'm a large size 12 with 32k boobs. I do need to lose some weight but I'm nowhere near as big as I appear. I am also 5'4 so have no height to carry it off

I wear a lot of fitted clothes to look slimmer but am then conscious I look overdressed or "sexy" which on a normal day is not what I'm after!

I actually feel better in underwear and swimwear than I do in most clothes!

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 05/09/2025 14:13

I agree. Something that might look elegant or classy on a B cup looks cheap on me.

ThePoshUns · 05/09/2025 14:13

I agree, I’d love to wear strappy or even strapless tops but could never go braless . I’d love to be willowy like Cate Blanchett.
i dress so carefully to avoid the matronly look but at 54 my boobs are getting lower and lower.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 05/09/2025 14:20

I so agree. I'm a small size 10 with a very defined waist, but nobody ever sees it because I wear a uniform at work (which swamps me) and have to be very careful what I wear otherwise, because everything hangs from the boobs. I've taken to wearing very fitted T shirts just to show that I have shape (but that tends to give a very 'here come the boobs, the rest of me will be along in a minute' look) with wide leg trousers or fitted jeans with a looser top (which makes me look fat). I'm also cursed with short legs, so although I think I have quite a nice figure for someone over 60, in every photograph ever taken I look like Mrs Pepperpot.

spoonbillstretford · 05/09/2025 14:38

My bra size has gone from 38E to 32/34D with weight loss in the last few years and it is so welcome. It was also taking desogestrel which seemed to increase my bust without increasing my weight- I became top heavy after being quite balanced before. Though the mini pill was necessary to control endometriosis.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/09/2025 14:56

It was only when I got to a size 8 did the fat out my boobs go down, up until then I was a 34J.

I’m now a size 6 and a 28F (which is barely a handful now 😂). I completely disbelieved the ‘boobs are all fat’ line until I got slim.

Esperanza25 · 05/09/2025 15:08

Agree 100percent - it’s depressing. I’ve gone for the baggy/ look 3 sizes bigger than I am option. The alternative, ie fitted on top, still attracts loads of unwanted attention and I am in my mid 60s ( though look younger- objective, not boasting)
I actually despair some days.
I’m also trying to lose weight but wouldn’t want to go below a 10 now because of what it would do to my face.
It has been a life long dilemma. The only thing that does help is wearing clothes of a more structured fabric. Anything stretchy is a disaster.
I don’t I’ve ever looked elegant in my whole life

Thundertoast · 05/09/2025 15:27

Agree. And v necks and wrap dresses make me look super matronly, and honestly I think they look pretty matronly on other people too, i think square necks are much more... modern? For bigger busts so I've been glad of the influx!

OuterSpaceCadet · 05/09/2025 15:49

Agree.

They make jumpers and coats look shit .... And I love jumpers and coats!

I also could do with working on my posture but feel so self conscious about pulling my shoulders back as looks like I'm intentionally sticking my tits out.

I don't dislike them at all though, they're probably my best feature. I just would love someone to design a clothing range that suited boobs for women who don't feel very wrap-dressy in personality.

Pinkdaisie · 05/09/2025 15:54

As a big boobed woman I only wear halter neck bikinis they balance me out

Tits on a stick is my biggest fear at 5’ 10, size 12 and 34F.

But your list is spot on, them’s the choices.

Tontostitis · 05/09/2025 15:58

No it's not I aim for voluptuous and sexy as elegance and slim with a 32GG are bloody impossible.

Hairshare · 05/09/2025 18:26

You don’t aim for Neat so much as Gorgeous.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 05/09/2025 18:30

I quite frequently take the Billy Eilish approach which is ‘I will dress like a teenage boy in baggy everything and only reveal these wonders to a lucky, lucky few (my husband!)’

Secret massive norks, no pervy men, elegance be damned!

: )

TheOGCCL · 05/09/2025 23:14

It's impossible to look nonchalantly stylish with a huge pair of norks in tow. I've got a long scraggy neck and v necks drag my face down, so I wear relatively high necks and just have to try a million to see how they play with my bust.

It's amazing how one top can make me look big, boxy and top heavy and another one makes my boobs disappear a bit. Nothing too structured but nothing too flimsy or flowy either. The trend for oversize has helped because there is often a bit more room in tops and shirts these days, just can't go too oversize.

People are always surprised when I show them my actual silhouette so I think I do a good job of hiding them and their disproportionality.

Getting older although I do fear the matron bosom, I've realised the boobs do at least make my waist look smaller and probably always will as I would have to go some to have a waist that protuded as much as my chest.

I think good posture helps.

But I'd love small boobs.

coxesorangepippin · 06/09/2025 01:29

It's tough isn't it.

If you accentuate your waist you automatically draw attention to the boobs

And if you hide them, you often look bigger than what you are.

At least your stomach looks flat with big boobs

😂

No3392 · 06/09/2025 01:47

I can't relate to this?

I am a 30hh, size 10, and I have learned to dress for my shape. I am an hourglass and I absolutely am able to, and do look classy? Would you look at am Italian woman and tell her she doesn't look classy? They are often voluptuous!!?

I often think that people try and pigeon hole. But it's about dressing in what makes you happy! And if it's what you want, looks good.
