It's just not possible to look slim and elegant with big boobs is it

I saw an article about Kelly Brook, she has a new business venture so is posting a lot on social including a post today of her cycling in a bikini! I think she's facially really beautiful and although she's put on some weight since her lads mag days I wouldnt call her especially large. But because she has big boobs that's all you see and it gives the impression she's bigger than she is.

It's so depressing as a fellow big-boobed person. I am overweight and nowhere near as pretty but I feel even if/when I lose weight I'll never really look slim or stylish.

Is there any way round this? Minimiser bras are awful and normal ones are hideously uncomfortable. I'm tired of either looking tarty or matronly.

Unfortunately I don't have £9k to spend on a boob reduction!

£9k will be your standard fairly brutal reduction that’ll leave you horribly scarred - pay more and go to someone who is pioneering in this area

Madagascary · 07/09/2025 07:08

I can't disagree more than it needs to cost you £25,000. That's utterly ridiculous. To describe another woman's surgery aa basic or brutal is really uncaring.

BadActingParsley · 07/09/2025 08:08

I’m away on holiday at them moment and envying all the girls going braless I. Little scrappy tops, even when I was young and skinny and perky I couldn’t have done that…tits on legs. Now I’m old and it’s really hard not to look matronly.

curious79 · 07/09/2025 06:11

Professor Kefah Mokbel- he’s superb

with hospital fees though, all in it’ll set you back c£25k

He specialises in breast surgery associated with cancer. I wouldn't want to go to him for a bog standard reduction and take his time away from the fantastic work he's doing. That's probably why he charges so much private..to put people off so he can focus on his specialism.

Joining the Big Boob club. I am relieved to find so many others think as I do about large out of proportion busts, like mine!

My sister is two years younger than me, same height 5.5. She is 11stone, I am 10st.4. in photos I look like a whale, whereas she looks half my size! It's all down to the bust, she can wear anything on top, I can't or I'll feel so self conscious. I have ever so slightly hunched shoulders from years of trying to hide them!

I am 36H, she is 34C.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 07/09/2025 09:39

I see women my age wearing cute little cardigans and dresses which aren't massively shapely but they manage (a combination of small boobs and longer legs) to look chic and elegant. In the same outfit I look like Les Dawson as Ada. It's not helped by having short hair and a big nose (I am, objectively, very plain). I was flat chested as a teenager and generally regarded as 'the ugly girl', so when I finally grew boobs I was delighted!

I tend to lean into the androgynous look but the boobs don't really help, although tailored shirts and wide legged trousers at least give me shape.

poorchurchmouse · 07/09/2025 12:40

I’m tempted by a reduction, but when I had time I didn’t have the money, and now I can afford it I can’t spare the time for surgery and recovery. Someone upthread said she looked like Mrs Pepperpot - that’s me, alas.

Madagascary · 07/09/2025 15:52

@poorchurchmousemake the time.

Nugg · 07/09/2025 15:55

34H size 14 here. Wrap dresses are amazing as are wrap tops. V necks forever!

I paid £8k 3 years ago. I am not horribly scarred.
I had the anchor incision and it’s barely visible now.

Joining in! I'm 5ft3 and have just taken up running, so have slimmed down from a 12 to a 10 with brilliant toned legs and bum... But still. All you can see in photos of me are my 32FFs and the accompanying massive arms. I look like the Tasmanian devil from cartoons - a big rectangular Duplo brick on stilts.

I wore fitted tops and barrel leg trousers all summer which kinda worked but now it's jumper season it's back to being swamped by knitwear that fits my chest.

GiantMoa · 05/09/2025 13:54

I think you can if very slim but it is harder. I'm a size 8/10 with 30FF boobs and still look slim (though with massive boobs) when I'm at my ideal weight. I have a very small frame so my ideal weight is at the lower end of my BMI range. It only takes half a stone weight gain though (which all goes on my waist/upper hips) and I start to look lumpy and matronly. It also helps that I'm tall (5' 9").

I never look elegant but that's more to do with my personality and wild hair than anything else though.

As someone with slightly smaller boobs but otherwise similarly sized I find the problem is if I’m looking slim (which isn’t a given because some stuff makes me look matronly no matter how skinny I am then I’ve jumped straight from matronly to potentially slutty.

I can’t wear a polo neck or even a crew next because matronly but anything too v necked/plunge is just boobs! It’s so in your face.

I’d love to do a slinky cami or an shirt with an extra undone but on but it’s always so “hello boys!”

GiantMoa · 07/09/2025 17:42

@DancingNotDrowning Yes, I feel your pain!

TaborlinTheGreat · 06/09/2025 09:12

That is either an astonishingly naïve or disingenous question.

Of course it’s disingenuous - that poster is just being bloody tedious

Bbq1 · 07/09/2025 17:56

I totally agree with this, Op. They make me look so much more bigger all over. I wear dresses that fit in at the waist to give shape, V necks and stretchy fabrics with give. Sadly tee shirts like band ones etc are out as I think I would look shapeless and huge in them.

arcticpandas · 07/09/2025 17:56

As a slim woman with tiny tired boobs I feel envious of you @ILoveLukeAlderton ! I would love bigger boobs- but natural. Hate the look of silicon boobs.

With you on the waterfall cardie @Appalonia, perfect for our shape and tragic that they're so derided on MN. I know I shouldn't care, but equally I'm not oblivious to fashion and don't want to be seen as such.

A tunic top and leggings tucked into knee-length boots really suits me too - I call it the Principal Boy look 😄- but I can't think of anything less in fashion!

I love waterfall cardigans. A lot of the current fashions just look awful on me. Leggings, boots and a tunic was probably my perfect fashion era for actually suiting me.

Madagascary · 07/09/2025 18:07

My mum is 87 with big boobs and they make her hunch

she hates them and SO wishes she had a reduction

Littlebitpsycho · 07/09/2025 18:19

I've given up trying to be honest. I've lost 5 stone and weigh 9st 10, my boobs were 36H and now 34H and I just look ridiculous. Despite the weight loss my boobs barely shrunk. Looking into the reduction I've wanted since I was 14 next year

Appalonia · 07/09/2025 18:33

It's so frustrating that even if you lose loads of weight they still don't really reduce!

The other thing that really bugs me is it I find a dress or jacket that fits my bust, it's HUGE on my hips, whereas I'm really very slim hipped. So again, I look bigger than I really am.

Appalonia · 07/09/2025 18:34

This isn’t about wanting bigger or smaller boobs though. You probably mean you’d like to be a D cup. So would most the women posting here.

It’s about having breasts to large for clothes, for exercise, for general activity. It’s about being sexualised all of the time. It’s about pain. It’s about bras that cost at least £50.

Please don’t compare having small breasts to large breasts because they’re completely different situations. Think about how you come across with glib comments. Large breasts are debilitating and disabling.

100% this!

100% this!

I really appreciate you saying that because it's exactly how I feel. I said upthread it sometimes feels like a disability in that I feel like there's so many things I can't do, or have to think about really hard. I love dancing, but it's difficult. If like to do to Toastmasters to improve my public speaking, but I feel too self conscious to do it. I've been in constant pain since I was 19 years old. I've attracted so much unwanted attention. I feel like they have both defined and constrained my life and I'm so so tired of it. They're not fun, they don't make you feel sexy, they're just a bloody nuisance.

Esperanza25 · 07/09/2025 19:42

Yes, kindly, unless you are in this position of being completely out of proportion and restricted in what you want to do and wear, it’s impossible to understand just how demoralising it is. The constantly being sexualised and the unwanted attention are just exhausting. And while a reduction for some is a solution, it’s not for others. Cost is an issue for me and many women, and in any event, I personally wouldn’t risk it due to medical issues.
I do feel so much less alone after reading this thread, though 😊 Thanks OP.
