Annual Style and Beauty Advent Calendar discussion thread. First AC reveal this year was 23rd June. First luxury reveal was 2nd July.

Thread 1: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5360770-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion

Thread 2: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5388836-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-2

Thread 3: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5396898-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-3

The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

There’s a separate thread for GWP, discounts and other deals here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5389635-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-four

A thread for the Liberty Beauty Drop here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5253698-liberty-beauty-drop-spoiler-from-the-despatch-date-part-9

MN has a great Christmas board for deals and early gift buying here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas

CB unboxing just went up from RLV. I don't think it's PR so maybe they are being sent out next day? If so stuff will be hitting Vinted right about now.

Yep just checked. Stuff from the calendar already on Vinted.

wheresmyshoe · 04/09/2025 18:51

I’m looking forward to seeing the JL fragrance. I’m almost glad Vogue isn’t a good fit for me, I’ve been very tempted in previous years.

wheresmyshoe · 04/09/2025 18:52

JL home fragrance/candle that is before we all go mad at the idea of a perfume one!

pinkchampagne1 · 04/09/2025 18:53

Doglover73 · 04/09/2025 18:17

I agree completely. When you've bought a fair few edits through the year you don't want to see many of these items in advents.
I agree about what products are in premium ones. I was surprised to see inkey list and a few other similar price points in harrods calendar with a relatively low value. No disrespect to those brands but definitely not premium IMHO.
Not a lot of newness in the calendars.

I think it is Space NK that has an Inky list and an Ordinary product this year. I agree that they shouldn’t be in the high end calendars.

Caggie09 · 04/09/2025 18:53

Im waiting for my CB, was meant to be 4pm, but pushed back to 7.30pm. I think im going to stick a few bits on Vinted later if i have time!!

OvaHere · 04/09/2025 18:53

I bought the Patrick Ta blush. Fomo averted.

@BakeOffRewatch I can see that ND palette on there for £5

BakeOffRewatch · 04/09/2025 19:00

Accessorize do one every year and a girls one with hair accessories. Last year Oliver Bonas did three. A gold one, a silver one and a “party earrings” one. Liberty have done one for a few years. The first year I bought the earrings I loved from them separately. There’s single brand ones now, saw Astrid + Miyu, Selfridges have the Astley Clarke £398 in stock now (link is in my list on first page). Missoma did one in a lovely blue box stocked by Liberty last year.

Heres some homework:

Missoma wait list open - https://www.missoma.com/collections/advent-calendar “Our best yet with three editions in gold, silver and solid gold, saving you up to £458.”

Astrid+Miyu wait list open - www.astridandmiyu.com/pages/advent-calendar-sign-up “Choose from the 12 Day Advent Calendar (£345 worth £740), 24 Day Advent Calendar (£695 worth £1655) or Solid Gold Advent Calendar (£1350 worth £1840). Plus, each of the boxes are completely reusable, and double as a jewellery box for the rest of your collection.” “Join the waitlist for 2025 Festive Gift Sets. You'll get early access to Advent Calendars, Bauble Ornaments and Gift Sets (future you will thank you for it).”

Astley Clarke wait list open - https://www.astleyclarke.com/astley-clarke-2025-advent-calendar Though also for sale (only 3 left!) on Selfridges for £398 https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/astley-clarke-12-day-limited-edition-18ct-yellow-gold-vermeil-and-sterling-silver-advent-calendar_R04531950/#colour=YELLOW%20GOLD%20SILVER

So the three things I really wanted were the Gisou Cherry cake £24 , True Botanicals anti aging serum £75 and Medik8 C-Tetra Advanced £69 - total £168 with all the 20% off they do £134.4, but I would have got £70 value from the other items like £41 moisturiser, Byoma serum £15, Toning mist £9, eye patches £19. I should probably buy those three items next time there’s an offer.

That Gisou is on Vinted now for £7 + delivery (just seen it listed alongside other things the seller has put on in the last 15 mins), not sure if there’s others also. Edited to add - same seller has got the True B for £10

The ND pastel palette is something I would have enjoyed using. Not something id buy. Just the True Botanicals anti aging serum, Medik8 and gisou lip gloss I really wanted but would have used other stuff and enjoyed too

Thanks for the list @BakeOffRewatch I like the look of Missoma. I've signed up to the waitlist of that one.

IlovePond · 04/09/2025 19:12

I remember a few years ago, the Liberty jewellery calendar was in the sale at a very reasonable price. I still regret not buying it.

It was the Gisou lip oil from CB that I really liked - hence my ridiculous road trip today! Mine is not quite the same colour, but similar.

IlovePond · 04/09/2025 19:31

Annoyingly, whilst I was in HBeauty I had a couple of sprays of some very expensive perfume and thought it was vile.

By the time I was sitting in traffic, they were both smelling lovely - particularly the one on my left hand.

Of course: I can neither remember the names of the perfumes nor could afford them if I did. No way is DH going to drive back down I can jog my memory 🙈

Sadly the Creed is still stinking to high heaven and not shifting!

I've managed to pick it up too on vinted 😊 I've paid £15 for it though, not sure if that's good? I couldn't get onto the website so I had to give the mission to my husband 😮‍💨 I've also managed to get the Charlotte tilbury setting spray from the Selfridges calendar for £6. They'll both be going in my harrods calendar as little extras 😊 along with the AB the rich eye cream which I picked up the other day from someone's liberty calendar. I'd also like the killian perfume, but I can't find it for a decent price at the moment 😕

LightandBreezy · 04/09/2025 20:02

@BakeOffRewatch and other jewelery calendar fans, I checked with Liberty and they aren't doing a jewelery advent this year.

I'm in the minority but my hair loves elasticizer. 🤣

I had loads of them and had never used them. Tried them one day and absolutely loved them! I’ve bought loads of PK since. It’s my new favourite.
Treated myself to Oribe last Christmas & it doesn’t come close to the PK 🙂

XiCi · 04/09/2025 21:27

I think i might go for the £109 Elle deal as its one of the best I've seen so far this year. Seems to be so much repeat stuff in them all Im reading down lists thinking no, no, no with only a few things id like. I understand the pp rage at yet another elasticizer. Just have had so many over the years. Ditto mini mascaras. I also don't want to see bloody bumbum cream, hair oils (have oily hair) sheet masks (have thousands of them) hand cream (yawn), fucking pillow spray (horrid and have a stack of them) and nuxe oil which is lovely but have bottles of the stuff from previous edits. I've also just read that the M&S calendar will include a gua sha 🤬 which is the final straw 😀

I think Elle is a nice one 😊

Where did you see that m&s will include a gua sha? I'm hoping to get the m&s one, mainly for like bodywash, lotion, maybe some shampoo and conditioner etc.

It's true about the gua sha ☹️ Mentioned here

I am another of the elite group who actually likes Elasticiser! But not Colour Wow or Percy and Reed, both of which are also in the M&S calendar ☹️

M&S’s affordable beauty advent calendar will launch on this date

This year’s calendar will include Clinique, Colour Wow and Estée Lauder

Thank you 😊

I like the elasticiser too, in fact I like all PK products that I've tried. I also like colour wow, but I've only tried a few things from them. Not the biggest fan of percy and reed, although I do use their frizz spray religiously. I find it's the best on the market for looking natural and not.making my hair look greasy. I quite like the sound of the products so far, keeping in mind that it is only £60. It also says that it will include Estée lauder, Clinique and Nuxe, but it's not arriving until 9th Oct 😡

MidnightMeltdown · 04/09/2025 22:14

I like PK elasticiser too - I just have a lot of them to get through! I will use the one in Liberty…eventually.

I don’t like getting candles as I have stacks of them, and rarely use them. I’ve got a stash of sleep sprays too - but I’ve recently started using them in the hope that the lavender will keep spiders away from my bed!

AlPaccacino · 04/09/2025 22:32

Still waiting for news if the SNK fragrance ac. I’ve got some money put aside in one of my Chase pots just for that, so I can pounce. I’ve never met a scent that I don’t like ( apart from Secretions by L’etat d’orange 🤮). My Bird & Blend came the other day, so I now have my premium (Liberty) and high st (Anthologie) and foodie type.

I really want the hourglass palette as well but I’m holding off as it’s a want not a need, and I need a new wardrobe more thanks to Mounjaro.

Hicupping · 04/09/2025 22:59

Maybe the trick with Elasticizer is just to use it as a conditioner. No faffing wetting hair and sitting with it for an hour.
