I’ll start…

Belstaff Fieldmaster jacket - it’s heavy, I do not like the feeling of waxed jacket much, the belt just gets in the way, and I should have sized up…

Nude leather court heels, JL own brand - beautifully made but the heels are so high, they look out of place at work.

Black patent penny loafers, also JL - they are perfect in every way, but I just feel frumpy in them.

Tan coloured cropped coat from M&S, the colour doe suit me. Resolved to wear it out this winter and only buy tan in accessories.

A Hobbs navy trench. Hoping for effortless Parisian style chic.

I look like a sack of spuds with it done up.
Undone it just swings wildly about and flaps open wide as i walk because it's good quality and is heavy .... 🙄

Same here. I love trench coats but I do look like an actual soldier in my Hobbs one. I've only worn it once but it was so expensive (DH bought it me for Christmas) that I don't feel I can get rid of it.

I was once proudly wearing a jumper (I'm going back a few years) when it came up about poor Shannon Matthews and what happened about her mother (it must have been a few years after the truth came out)

I was wearing the same jumper as Karen
(In fact we matched with our same style jeans too)

Another time I was wearing a new pair of blue floaty trousers when dp asked why I matched the paint in the walls in our lounge

Bought one of those long puffer jackets (when they where trendy) in pale pink and ds told me I looked like a giant condom

The best one was when my mother (who's a large lady) asked for an outfit from my father for her birthday

Being a useless bloke (and he really is) and not being very fashionable forward himself,he asked my aunt to help him

She picked the most gorgeous outfit-bright red top and skirt

It was gorgeous,on the hanger

Mother tried it on and came downstairs so we could all coo at her and tell her how lovely she looked

We did,and my father finally looked up
'Oh Jackie,you look lovely,just like a big,fat,round letterbox!'

I had to drag her away before she planted him in the garden (and to be fair, she did-all it needed was a red top/black skirt or red skirt/black top as the full on red was a bit much)

Literally any fitted T-shirt style top I’ve bought for work in the last 5 years.
When will I learn I loathe crew necks and they make my tits look ginormous and I need a lower cut (V, round or sweetheart) neckline?!!! And why oh why are they all cut so short in the body?!!

I bought a beautiful mint condition vintage Burberry raincoat when it was Burberrys.
I looked absolutely ridiculous in it, far too long and heavy so I gave it to my sister who looks slightly better!

A couple of tops from Muji. Both beautiful quality but I look like a peasant from communist China, and not in a good way.

A beautiful velvet jumpsuit from Anthropologie. My size but made for a woman giant at least 2 foot taller in both legs and torso. Baffling.

A pair of Next jeans. Spent hours (days) trawling shops to find THE pair of jeans, finally found these - perfect fit and comfortable to boot!! But whenever I put them on I want to take them off. I think I'm starting to realise that even the perfect jeans make me feel profoundly 'meh'.

Yes!!! I just bought a gorgeous anthropologie top in my size, its like a marquee. I had to send it back for 2 sizes smaller. What's with that?

Bright red kitten heeled flip flops.
Absolute agony and impossible to walk in.
Only suitable for standing still having a fashion photo taken.

I have also bought a very sparkly, red-soled pair of shoes. A French salesman persuaded me I needed a half a size smaller than I was because they were so high. Got them home and they became very beautiful, very expensive ornaments. I managed to sell them for a profit a few years later because they were unworn.

I’ve also fallen foul of the “let’s buy what I used to wear” on vinted. It’s arrived and a mid 40 year old ends up looking like she’s trying to be 29 again. Back it goes to be resold. I’m trying to be much more thoughtful now, buying from brands I know but items I know will suit my peri body not my 30 year old one.
