Has anyone regretted Botox?

Hi,

45yrs old and first time botox appointment is booked for next week. The injector is a dentist with many years experience, she's done other cosmetic work for me, just not this. She recommended forehead, crowsfeet and in the middle of eyes. My eyes are a little hooded so I was worried about heaviness, so she's going to go light in the forehead

I'm so jittery about it now it's getting closer. What if I get ptosis or a wonky face, I also don't want to be frozen, just gently more refreshed!

Just started a new job so I'm treating myself with the first extra pay. But also if it goes wrong I will have zero confidence in this new job facing all these new colleagues

Has it gone wrong for anyone here? Has anyone regretted it?

I’m also 45 and I’ve had fillers for the last 20 years but I am quite scared to have Botox. ATM I don’t have any noticeable wrinkles (which is partly due to the fact that I’m autistic and have never moved my face much). But I am thinking of having my forehead done but I’m really scared of that droopy eye thing that people get.

However, the lady I see for treatments is adamant that in her experience a bit of Botox is much safer and less likely to go wrong than lip fillers 🤷🏻‍♀️

CoffeeandWalnuts · 24/07/2025 19:46

@Poobs2022she did say as a first timer it probably won't last long on me. And as the facial muscles atrophy after a few times (scary!) then Botox last longer as there's less resistance.
Argh I dunno. I'll have to cut me a fringe in if it goes wrong

Can people who have used a dentist in the Midlands and had good results please share their details. My 11s require some attention. Please send me a message if you don’t wish to post them, thanks very much

My eyebrows went wonky and I hated it, never again. Three years on they still haven't done back to how they were!

theduchessoftintagel · 24/07/2025 19:48

However, my friends all get it and they look great. I think it either suits you or not. I have very expressive eyebrows too and I hated not being able to move them much.

feemcgee · 24/07/2025 19:50

I seem to be the only person who tried it and didn’t see any difference at all. I was so disappointed. The practitioner is a doctor, she said that it doesn’t work for everyone.

Whenindoubthugitout · 24/07/2025 19:52

My eyebrow dropped considerably both times I had it done.

i don’t bother anymore

Hurryuphumphreygeorgeiswaiting · 24/07/2025 19:56

Wished I had it sooner. Havent regretted having botox. I am in my mid fifties. I don't look different just fresher plus my migraines have stopped.

Ihateboris · 24/07/2025 19:58

Can anyone recommend a dentist in the Chester area that does botox? There are loads of "beauty salons " that do them but I d prefer a dentist. Thank you 😊

treesandsun · 24/07/2025 19:59

love it I used to get mine through the dentist but she now lives in Australia. the only thing that happens to me which is similar for anything I have done in that area is it makes me sneeze.

My boss had it. One day she looked like someone either punched her in one eye or as if she was stung by a bee. She didn’t have a black eye or any discolouration, but one of her eyes looked half shut, and the eyebrow above it was higher than the other eyebrow. So I asked her, genuinely concerned, as to what happened? I thought she had a fistfight with her husband or something. She said she had Botox and it ended up looking like that. Hmm..
She looked like that for a number of weeks until she looked normal again. During that time she wore sunglasses a lot. It was wintertime 😃

Nifty50something · 24/07/2025 20:08

@ihateBoris not Chester but Dr Fan in Lostock Hall. It's worth the fairly long drive - she is amazing.

VeronicaRaven · 24/07/2025 20:08

No regrets or issues. I've been having it done for about a year now. I go to an actual Dr who is well known in my area for achieving natural results, which is why I picked him.
I only have a little bit in my forehead but my number one concern are 11 lines. At this point I don't have them at all if I keep my appointments regular. My forehead wasn't bad but now looks great. I was afraid to look like a plastic doll before my first session but no, I can move my face, frown etc just not as much as before. It's such a non event that I go on my lunch and I'm back in the office 20 minutes later, no one ever noticed. I'm about to turn 41.

This is interesting @theduchessoftintagel as this has happened to me. I had it done once, liked the results so had a bit more but I knew she had put way too much in. She was a Dentist from Ireland and it was/is still absolutely awful. She assured me it would go down. It hasn't. I feel so sad and hope you are ok.

jalepenowine · 24/07/2025 20:14

It’s the best! I get my forehead done and makes you look so fresh faced. It has helped with my tension headaches too. I know when mine is starting to wear off as my headaches start coming back. I wish it lasted longer.

Thank you so much. That's only about an hour away so I'll get in touch

Lickityspit · 24/07/2025 20:33

I hated Botox. I had it twice and both times I hated it. I have deep set eyes and it pushed my brows down and my eyes were even deeper set. I’ve never had it again

Linethemup · 24/07/2025 20:34

I love it!
I did consider face thread's but that was a step too far so stuck to Botox and a bit of filler for smokers lines. Lips don’t look like ‘trout pout’ the younger kids like, just that my smokers lines have gone.
so yes, forehead and lips
im late 50s

annlee3817 · 24/07/2025 20:38

I get droopy eyes with it which I hate, but the person I go to tries a slightly different placement each time and we've got to the point where they don't droop as much. Annoyingly for me though the last few times I have it it doesn't seem to be taking, and she has to do quite a big top up, not sure why. I do love it though, however only get it done twice a year. One of my mum's friend used to get it regularly but it started affecting her vision so had to stop

Themomentsheknewshefkedup · 24/07/2025 20:40

I wouldn’t go to a dentist for botox.

I have been getting it for years and I love it

HelloHattie · 24/07/2025 20:45

I love it. Choose wisely. Don’t be guided on price.

Maybe just do your crows feet for now and see if you like it rather than do all in one go.

RazorsAtDawn · 24/07/2025 21:18

No regrets here. I had mine done for the first time on my 46th birthday about 4 weeks ago. Had exactly the same as what you are planning and at my dentist surgery. It did look a wee bit wonky to start with. It took better one side than the other, and one of my eyebrows lifted more obviously than the other. But this was corrected at my follow up 3 weeks later, and now I'm very very happy with the results. I wasn't sure that it had made enough of a difference for the cost but the before and after photos showed a very different story. Go for it!! And make sure you have your follow up.

LeesLady72 · 24/07/2025 21:24

I know a surgeon who is now an aesthetician. Very, very skilled at what she does, her patients always look refreshed, never ‘done’ and certainly never frozen. I wouldn’t trust her to do dental work though…
Just because someone can inject you’d be insane to think they’re skilled at botox
