Has anyone regretted Botox?

Hi,

45yrs old and first time botox appointment is booked for next week. The injector is a dentist with many years experience, she's done other cosmetic work for me, just not this. She recommended forehead, crowsfeet and in the middle of eyes. My eyes are a little hooded so I was worried about heaviness, so she's going to go light in the forehead

I'm so jittery about it now it's getting closer. What if I get ptosis or a wonky face, I also don't want to be frozen, just gently more refreshed!

Just started a new job so I'm treating myself with the first extra pay. But also if it goes wrong I will have zero confidence in this new job facing all these new colleagues

Has it gone wrong for anyone here? Has anyone regretted it?

Why would you have anyone inject Botulism into your body?.

IsSheOkayOrWhat · 25/07/2025 16:27

Me! Had it done twice. The first time I felt my eyes were heavy so when somewhere else to see if it was the woman who had done it. I felt the same the second time. I would only go to a professional practitioner not to a beauty salon, and had done lots of research. I also didn’t like the feeling of not being able to move my face…. So I’ve settled for nice moisturisers instead of messing with my face.

Maddy70 · 25/07/2025 16:41

I have been having it done for years. It lifts my hooded eyes!
I have the same areas as you

Jamfirstest · 25/07/2025 18:09

I’m 46 I’ve been having it for 2 years. I wish I’d done it sooner. At my age I can’t have it in my forehead towards my hairline as it will push my brows down. Gutted! I have 2 areas and I’ve been brave enough to have profilo now for tear troughs.

You are brave , considering the awful experiences of others on here who had polynucleotidesin that area, not quite the same, but anything near the eyes is a no no for me!

It’s been done for medical reasons for years eg in the jaw for grinding of teeth.

Allseeingallknowing · 25/07/2025 19:24

Only have a couple of forehead lines, so not doing it. Don’t want a glassy smooth forehead anyway- it looks odd. Luckily no 11s either. I’ll stick to tret and face yoga. At 76 I must have been lucky not to have these ravages of Mother Nature- so far!

Why can’t you have it in your forehead at 46? That’s when a lot start having it isn’t it

I've been getting it for 20 years, no problems. He does have to go light on my forehead now as I'm older.

Why do you have to go light?

Happylurcher · 26/07/2025 16:41

I’ve had it twice. Very well qualified ex-NHS facial surgeon who will avoid the frozen look at all costs. She starts very light and tops up if necessary a fortnight later.

While a few people said I looked ‘well rested’ afterwards, the effect wore off very quickly for me - within 6 weeks or so. I’ve since learned that if you’re stressed or your metabolism is high, the body absorbs it very quickly. I was going through a hard time when I had it done and I think that affected things. At £300 a pop it didn’t seem worth it tbh - but I might try again when I have more money (and a calm period in my life 😂)

Edited

Mine wore off quickly when I had the lighter touch too, but I went heavy last time and still get days when I can’t crinkle my head and it’s been a year. They should charge differently based on what you have I think

Happylurcher · 27/07/2025 09:54

@Disturbia81 - she went a bit heavier last time when I explained it wore off quickly …but it still happened. I definitely think it had something to do with stress levels.

Ah I see that makes sense, my adrenaline/metabolism feels really fast when I’m stressed

Allseeingallknowing · 27/07/2025 15:12

Saw on the news about an increase in cases of botulism, caused by contaminated products used by dubious practitioners. Why isn’t this business of non surgical procedures regulated? There have been enough horror stories to warrant it!

Jamfirstest · 27/07/2025 17:08

@Disturbia81risk of it pushing your forehead down over your eyebrows.when my doc pointed that out I realised I’ve seen it on women I know.

It’s such an ugly look- I don’t know why women risk it!

TiramisuTastesDreamy · 27/07/2025 20:50

I really didn’t like the heavy sensation in my forehead after having it done earlier this year. Lasted about a week ( the heaviness). The end result was nice enough , however I’m not enthused to have it again because of how I felt for that first week. Also had crows feet done but didn’t see any meaningful difference in those.

Ah I see thanks, I had it heavy once and did notice my eyes weren’t as big.

Gettingbysomehow · 28/07/2025 10:44

It was great until I tried a different less experienced practitioner and spent 6 months with one eyebrow much higher than the other . I got some funny looks for sure.

Allseeingallknowing · 24/07/2025 19:04

Risk of droopy brows is the main reason I won’t have it. A ml of filler to the Marionettes makes a noticeable difference for me

@Allseeingallknowing I am considering marionette filler - could I PM you a couple of questions? no worries if not

Radioundermypillow · 28/07/2025 11:56

I bloody love my botox. Had it done for the first time at 57 and its made a massive difference to my confidence. I go light in the forehead and stronger between brows. I still have expression which is good as I am a therapist.

Because it makes you look great?

DreamyRubyReader · 28/07/2025 12:00

I did it once aged 41 and absolutely hated the results. I thought it made my forehead relax so my already hooded eyes dropped and had obvious lines across one brow. I had a little around my top lip which I felt made me look 'beaky'

Anyone I mentioned it to said they couldn't see much difference but I definitely could.

Radioundermypillow · 28/07/2025 12:06

I'm having it done tomorrow actually. I might not get it in the hairline but go for frown lines and a brow lift.

Yes of course. I’m not an expert, but have had filler once a year.
