That's such an interesting article, @TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal . It's a striking parure and I like the story of the rubies. It's interesting to see it on Princess Marina as well. A demonstration of how the royal families of Europe were so interlinked.

Doesn't Daisy usually decamp to the South of France each summer?

When I see her living her best life in her 80s and ex-Queen Beatrice seemingly happy in semi-retirement, I really do think the idea of abdication makes sense. It's a shame it's a dirty word in the UK!

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 19/07/2025 10:32

She used to but I'm not sure she's robust enough anymore after the operation a couple of years ago. Graasten was her parents' summer holiday home (a wedding gift from the Nation) and Ingrid's favourite place so it holds a lot of value in the family.

Leti in Adolfo Dominguez, a brand she often goes for. Those who dislike asymmetric hems, look away now! I like the colour, but don't think the fit is great for some reason. Is it the bodice?
Hair a bit longer, it seems, and makeup spot on, as usual.

Assuming the RF continues for generations, if KC lives as long as his parents, William will be 60s when he is King, and George similar.
The late Queen was scared by her uncle's abdication and her fathers early death. Charles won't have that long in the job.
William may do things differently.

I don’t know Mair , as you say on the surface she looks great but there is something not quite right about the dress?
don’t know if it’s the colour, the ruched bodice , the sleeves or not! 🤷‍♀️

Maireas · 19/07/2025 14:26

Maybe it's the combo, Jeff. The ruching, plus the sleeves, plus the neckline maybe? Her clothes always fit so well, this a rare fail for me.

OP posts:
TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 19/07/2025 14:31

For me it's the style of the dress, it's not boho enough to suit. And the voluminous but shorter skirt means the asymmetric hem hangs really unevenly (at least to the eye). I know the whole point of asymmetry is to be uneven, but if it hangs wrong it just looks like it's not cut or finished properly!

Eaumyword · 19/07/2025 14:45

Oh no Leti! She's normally so stylish. Really don't like the grey dress. It looks like that super loud rustly waterproof material. Not keen on the colour and the waist is very bad.
It reminds me of a school Home Economics sewing project from the '80's 🤷

Maireas · 19/07/2025 14:55

Yes, I think you've all summed it up, really!

The fitting around the bodice isn't good - it seems to be simultaneously tight over the bust but baggy under the arms

I think the shape of the bodice seems wrong above the ruching and the severe boat neck is also odd. A V-neck or gathered bodice would have worked better

Agree and I think basically there is too much going on - ruching, boat neck, slightly puffy sleeves and the dreaded asymmetric hem ( I need a G&T to get over that one 😆). And the colour is dreary. Definitely needs to be filed at the back of the wardrobe, if not under B1N 😆

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 19/07/2025 15:33

Haha I literally didn't even look at the rest of the dress. Just the skirt! Agree with everyone else.

My thoughts exactly. The bust area is a bunched up mess. I don't mind the hem, ruching is more attractive on little girls than women.

locketrocket · 19/07/2025 18:51

I don’t mind and asymmetric hem, but that is awful. There is no definition to it.

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 19/07/2025 18:56

Exactly. I normally quite like them but this isn't good.

Sidebeforeself · 19/07/2025 20:35

A snap of Amelia, princess of orange, has been released of her and her friends on a trip to Greece before her recent graduation. Not much to say style wise, they all look like lovely early 20s girls on summer holiday. Oh to be that age again! I look back on pictures of me at that age and think I look amazing with hindsight! Didn’t think it at the time!
Glad she is having the chance to relax and have fun like a normal girl her age. Particularly after the threats etc a couple of years ago.

Thank you for the ‘not so new’ thread @Maireas. I think I’ve just worked my way through 1000+ posts whilst I’ve been away - good to see we are back on fashion.

How about a Princess Margaret fashion fest?
Some very glamorous looks here, I love pics 11 and 19. Interesting caped evening dress pic 58 that looks quite modern.

The article about Princess Margaret had a photograph which got me wandering about her family orders (there was chat about them on the last thread, I think?). In this photo it looks like she's wearing four. From the bottom up: George V, George VI and EII.

According to wiki she had four orders: the three I've listed and the Royal Victorian Chain, which PM is wearing round her neck. Apparently that's how men wear it, and in later life that's how she chose to wear it rather than on a ribbon (more bling!).

I've done a reverse image search and it looks like she's also wearing the Imperial Order of the Crown of India - the upper one nearest to her shoulder.

My pictures are under review... and in the meantime I've realised that a couple of other people have asked about the mystery 4th order and have already been answered upthread - sorry, I hadn't realised I was so far behind in reading the thread! 🙈
