Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

There was one photo of sunglasses I think. From memory they were brown?

I love Charlenes dress. Now, if Kate had worn that in the same red shade she wore for the recent state banquet I’d have been happy!

Were there a photos of Kate in sunglasses yesterday? She usually wear such fab sunglasses

( attempts to lighten tone of thread)

I've only ever seen her wear them at Wimbledon. I think it's a courtesy thing. They were nice.

Her sunglasses were Ralph Lauren. Her handbag (which I covet) was Anya Hindmarch.

It's this one, Jeff. £950! I'm looking for a cheaper dupe 😊

Thanks 🙏, I love it! Had something similar years ago ( much cheaper though!)
you have found the key to my heart! , I’m a shoes and Handbag lover, jewellery too !

I have a Dragon Diffusion bag (in brown) which has a similar woven design

There are also cheaper options on Etsy.

Have a look at the accessories on Wolf and Badger - they have some great bags! I buy clothes from there as well, when I can't afford Vestiaire!

A bit more info for anyone interested on the royal family orders (mainly courtesy of Wikipedia):

  • They're a personal gift from the monarch, given to (usually) women in the royal family
  • They're currently used by the royal families of the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Thailand and Tonga
  • The ribbons of the UK orders change for each monarch, the only country to do so
  • KC's ribbon is light blue, similar to that of George V
  • They're usually teeny little oil paintings, with the monarch's cypher on the reverse (this I thought was really interesting as it's not something that us mere mortals would ever get to see!)
  • Philip Treacey (of hat fame) made the bows for KC's orders - and there's me thinking they were just a bit of ribbon tied into a bow! Grin
  • The enamel and gold work for KC's were done by a couple of people who had set up business with a loan from the Kings Trust and had support from the QE Scholarship Trust respectively. I thought that was a really nice touch of how things go full circle. What an honour to be asked to work on them!
FGSWhatNow · 13/07/2025 12:20

Ooops sorry, it looks like the list of countries I C&P out of Wikipedia has turned into links 😣

Maireas · 13/07/2025 12:21

That's great, thanks @FGSWhatNow .
I also really like that the Kings Trust help set up the business for those people. It really has been such a positive and supportive organisation and changed lives.
Great detail about the Orders. I'm always intrigued that the Danish RF have one in the shape of an elephant.

FGSWhatNow · 13/07/2025 12:24

Yes @Maireas I always wonder about the elephant too! I feel another google coming on...

FGSWhatNow · 13/07/2025 12:27

I'm also loving the accessories chat btw, and secretly wondering if DH would notice if I smuggled a pair of those RL sunglasses into my collection. They're 👌

That’s really interesting @FGSWhatNow, amazing about all the little details that are missed.

Do what I do , “ what these? , ive had them for ages ! 🙄”
🤣

PurplebeadedFendi · 13/07/2025 12:32

Thanks for that info @FGSWhatNow . I don't know where I read or heard this (and apologies if it was on one of these threads), but I am sure I heard that the lady who currently paints the portraits. Elizabeth Meek, bought a book one day on painting miniatures from a charity shop. She just used it for a bit of coffee table dressing. Then one day she decided to have a go, and the rest is history. I've looked at her website biography, and can see she trained as a nurse and painted as just a hobby at first, then discovered miniature painting in the 1980s. I'd love to know if the charity shop book story is true.

I like Kate's RL sunnies too, quite understated, unlike my usual (slightly big and vulgar) Gucci ones!😆
