Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

You're right! That's the one I was thinking of

So Kate's dress today was Self-Portrait after all! But bespoke, so maybe the safari suit accents were "a sweet nod" to her FiL everytime he went south of the Equator in the 80s?? 😆

Eaumyword · 12/07/2025 22:59

The thread has moved so fast! I just wanted to give a big thumbs up to Kate's outfit today, it's gorgeous.

Good memory. It was the Italian dinner back in Feb at Highgrove. I recall Stanley Tucci also attended. Different sleeves but otherwise the same dress.
Unless there was another event a Buck House?

Oh I love Stanley tucci , his programs about Italy and its food are amazing!
and to keep on topic , he’s always stylishly turned out!

Pallisers · 12/07/2025 23:31

I liked Kate's skirt a lot and the whole outfit was nice. But I long to see her in an absolutely stunningly pretty summer dress with no fitted jacket or anything.

I'd also like to see her embrace the lower heels Leti has had to - imo they can look great. A fab outfit shouldn't need vertiginous heels to make it work.

Charlotte of Monaco is dressing really well these days.

I absolutely love Leti's black skirt. When I was in my 20s I had a skirt very similar and I loved it. Wish I had appreciated how nice I looked back then. Felipe is probably too young for me! But I agree he is the best dressed of all the royal men. Although Charles definitely has an eye for style.

justasking111 · 12/07/2025 23:38

Charlotte looks quite lovely. Albert appears more svelte these days.

Charlene looks so pretty, that blue is ethereal. Just lovely. Sadly, Deftly, I think Albert is wedded to the white DJs....

Me too! He seems like a decent guy and I loved his book. He's also a sharp dresser.

@Pallisers - I really agree with you about Kate's shoes, and I wish she'd try out a slightly lower style, not just with trousers. I'm not suggesting Mary Janes (which don't seem to have completely caught on), but more along the lines of a lower kitten heel, like Leti.

@justasking111 - thanks for the heads up 👍
I definitely want to go and see that, sounds fascinating.

I do like that style on Catherine but would be good to see it in a more vibrant colour for a change.

Eaumyword · 13/07/2025 06:58

Char looks spot on. Fab colour, lovely silhouette for her body shape and very elegant. Gorgeous hair and makeup too.

Maireas · 13/07/2025 07:02

I was thinking the same, @Eaumyword , that Char is looking really well, which is nice to see

Date for your diary?

"Marie Antoinette’s Fashion and Jewels to Go on Display at the V&A in September - Galerie Magazine" https://galeriemagazine.com/va-exhibition-marie-antoinette-style-september/

Thank you I'm currently watching the BBC series so it has piqued my interest.

Maireas · 13/07/2025 09:04

Thanks, @onehorserace that's a good gallery to compare outfits.

Love Charlene’s dress. Albert, I was thinking more ice cream seller. Just put a straw boater on him 😆

deeahgwitch · 13/07/2025 09:43

Just catching up.
You nailed the bow issue @smilesy yesterday at 17.59.
Two different outfits.
I must say I was confused too.
Somebody wrote yesterday that Kate wasn’t into fashion. I have to disagree. Both daughters of Carole Middleton are into clothes, fashion and style I would say to a certain extent, led by their Mum, growing up.
She is a stylish woman

Some Mums aren’t. I’m looking at you Princess Anne.

jaws33 · 13/07/2025 10:04

I think I said she wasn't into fashion. I really don't think Kate is or Pippa, they have quite an old fashioned style. Even if you look at what clothes they wore in their younger years I don't think they represented the average London girl who was into fashion.

The average London girl? Is there such a thing ?

No, you're right. There's always been a huge variety in what women of all ages wear, and not just in London. I think the variety is such a great thing. So interesting. My niece was always into Boho, but my daughter always favoured a sharper look. Still does.

I would say so, there are trends & style that you tend to notice in women particularly younger ones. It does differ around the country eg the trends in Liverpool may be different to London. However I have spent a long time working in fashion so probably just have a different perspective.
