Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

I joined this thread because, unlike most people whose clothes feature regularly in the media, the royals aren't all young, slim and good-looking

That's why I love Q Maximas style. It's really refreshing to see an older woman who is a normal size use colour & have fun. I do think she is very attractive though.

Teddy589 · 12/07/2025 20:16

I surprised myself by liking Kate’s outfit today, it’s not the sort of thing I normally go for but it looked so smart. I really felt for Amanda Anisimova today - I saw her on Thursday in the s/f and she was brilliant. I’m sure there’s lots more to come from her. To go back a few conversations, I have to say I thought Carole M’s Wimbledon outfit was a bit of a miss, she has such a lovely figure and there are plenty of other dresses that will really suit her. Next year maybe!

jaws33 · 12/07/2025 20:24

The top half of Kate's outfits is nearly always fitted or tailored. Smart, sometimes elegant, but it contributes to a general impression of conservatism. As does the lack of variety

Yes, she favours high necks & the bodice is often fitted with a high waistband but I do think that shape suits her best.

@Maireas Well, women's bodies change. For all sorts of reasons.
I joined this thread because, unlike most people whose clothes feature regularly in the media, the royals aren't all young, slim and good-looking - and that's why it's interesting to see what they choose and how well it works - or doesn't - and to compare different approaches.

Dress to your good points is something learnt through trial and error. I'm only 5' tall. Used to always wear heels for work and nights out. Certain fashion trends, colours, patterns just didn't work for me.

Leti is very petite and dresses in fitted clothes with shorter hemlines as does Mary. Catherine goes for column style fashion. Max can wear anything. Daisy wears everything with aplomb.

Sophie is a bit of a seesaw with separates.
The queen gets the job done depending on the day, task, but can surprise us evening wear wise.

Different women who have different dressers and different tastes. And of course different climates.

L has really good proportions which imo often makes more of a difference to how you look in your clothes as opposed to height or size.

That's a good observation. She had a lovely chartreuse Stella McCartney trouser suit on recently, which I thought was a great look, and I was thinking it's the only time she has a looser top, when she's wearing trousers?
Somebody may have spotted a dress as you describe, though.

i thought that was Victoria Beckham?

Maireas · 12/07/2025 20:42

@justasking111 - you've missed out Anne, the Empress of the rewear! Sometimes hits, sometimes misses, but always value for money! I just love someone who can wear the same outfit 45 years on.

Was it VB? My bad, as the kids say.
I loved it.

Absolutely.
It’s taken me 4 decades to realise both what suits me and what I feel good in.
And then tweaking it to adjust a menopausal body!

jaws33 · 12/07/2025 20:44

I'm only 5' tall.

Kylie is small but has excellent proportions eg long legs for her height, shoulders in line with hips, slimmer bottom limbs vs the top etc. It's why she looks modelesque in photos.

locketrocket · 12/07/2025 20:44

@MaireasI loved it too 😊

I hear you, my friend! I think also, as you get older, you get more confident and can develop your own style. When you're younger you tend to follow what's fashionable. At least that's what I did and it didn't always work....

I've been following a poster on Instagram who does birthstone tiaras. This month Ruby. She faithfully follows the tiaras and their wearers through history.

I have to say a century or more back there were some very odd looking aristocrats, royals a good visual case for not marrying your cousins. Things improved for some when they started marrying commoners bringing in fresh blood and good looks.

Must have improved their health too.

Never mind Leti. Felipe is my royalty crush.💕🤣

jaws33 · 12/07/2025 20:52

I did. Anne has a fine figure tall, neat, toned. Clothes hang so well on her frame. She did wear some horrors in her youth, frills, puffed sleeves, once she stripped that away she found her groove.

They are only about an inch and a half apart in height! Leti is not short.

A few of Anne’s rewears stretching up to almost 40 years between first and most recent wear!

Good memory. It was the Italian dinner back in Feb at Highgrove. I recall Stanley Tucci also attended. Different sleeves but otherwise the same dress.
Unless there was another event a Buck House?
