Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

I presume the Gloucesters jewellery will pass down to the Earl of Ulster and his wife I can't see her having much use for them.

I do wonder who's swanning around in Princess Margaret's pieces that were auctioned off.

This is one of the reasons I wish they'd set up a trust with the jewels.

Something similar to the Swedes would be good. So there's a chance in years to come we'd still see some of the Kent and Gloucester jewels appearing.

Many pieces will end up being sold off as they pass down the line because of inheritance tax.

She has so many jewels on she even has diamonds on her back! That’s commitment to bling!!!

That rivals even Queen Mary’s bling levels!

I think it’s Karen Millen. I saw someone wearing it at BP garden party.

Found it - sold out. There is also website called Rotation where you can rent it.

I don’t like the visible shirring / elastication on the back of the waist personally but it’s an ok dress although not my style.

Seems a lot of people noticed it

Maireas · 10/07/2025 16:28

Good points about the Gloucester jewellery. The Countess of Ulster is a consultant paediatrician, so wouldn't have much opportunity, as much as the children may like to see it. She won't, of course, be a royal duchess, which makes a difference.

Thank you for finding the dress. One I will look out for on eBay. It looks like a nice transitional piece for either side of the summer. There's a mini version for those with the shapely legs!

I thought Lady Starmer looked elegant at the greeting on the steps of Downing Street. Apropos of nothing, I always thought Kier Starmer was quite tall, but he's quite short like Macron, and I always thought Brigitte was tall, but she's in sky high heels, so can't be more than 5'4".

justasking111 · 10/07/2025 17:11

Thank you for finding the dress guys. It's been buzzing in my head since I saw it.

It's on EBAY for £120 if anyone is looking for a frock

I just thought the style looked more modern, although it could just as easily be from the 1920’s or 30’s 🤷‍♀️

Apparently the bracelets formed part of a parure given by Queen Mary to Princess Alice as a wedding gift in 1935, having herself used it and adding various pieces over the years. So your instincts are spot on as far as style - it's quite possible they are made somewhere between 1910-30s.

I feel that the obvious solution is to divvy up the Gloucester jewels between the loyal posters here on RS&B. At least that way they’d definitely be worn. We’ve all already had a lot of practice wearing tiaras in everyday life situations like on the school run or doing the weekly shop…

I think you've hit on the perfect solution!

I'd hand it back to the royal family if that avoids inheritance tax. It can be shown at exhibitions then.

I find it distasteful that historical pieces are locked away in the vault of some tech/oligarch etc billionaire when it's purchased at auction. Feel the same about art as well.

Excellent detective work @WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal !

Wow that is some look on Leti, she looks incredible. She is so petite, but look at those toned arms.

Choux · 10/07/2025 21:47

They both look immaculate.

Maireas · 10/07/2025 21:56

Leti doesn't often wear that style, but she looks great. We don't often see her in pearls, either!

Letizia is actually a perfectly average 5'6. It's just that she's always pictured next to Felipe and he makes her look tiny!

DisforDarkChocolate · 11/07/2025 07:51

Would we know if the Gloucester's had some sort of trust that includes the fabulous jewellery? You don't stay that rich without knowing how to preserve your assets.

Choux · 11/07/2025 08:20

Thanks for that @IDareSay- I enjoyed that. My takeaways:
1 Kate has a black and white self portrait dress that I didn’t remember so that makes (at least) 4 in total. 3 are very similar including an embroidered cream coloured one with a matching fabric skirt which I also didn’t remember.
2 Photo of Natasha at Ascot this year looking very Kate in outfit. She has 4 rings on her ring finger like Kate wears too. Her name badge refers to her by her maiden name though presumably she kept it for work purposes.
3 Am surprised she has stayed so long as she had two children in 2018 and 2021 and Kate’s needs are increasing as William gets nearer the ‘top job’. I suppose COVID and Kate being out of the limelight last year made it easier for Natasha to juggle work and home but now something has to give and her husband is a royal photographer so also travelling a lot.
4 Kate looked amazing and so glowy leaving hospital after George was born. I think having to do that with the press outside is awful but she could not have looked better and that photo will still be being published throughout George’s reign as it’s his first ever public photo so likely to be around for another 80-90 years.
