Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

TBH - I don't think she was being "unfriendly" yesterday - the press are enjoying pushing the narrative after the plane kerfuffle a few weeks ago. They seem to have made a big deal of her not taking his hand yesterday on the plane steps.

However if I were coming down plane steps in very high heels and had the choice of a rock solid metal handrail or a, possibly shaky, human hand then I would go for the metal handrail everytime. In fact I did just that last week to DH coming out of the opticians.

I'm having to use a walking stick at the moment. I choose the handrail over my husband every time.

I'd choose flat shoes and a trouser suit...

Cassiope · 09/07/2025 19:49

I don't like Camilla’s menagerie print dress, but that matters not a jot, as she clearly loves it. You could use that photo of the Windsors and Macrons in the grounds to illustrate that confidence and feeling comfortable in one's own skin are the keys to looking good. Mme Macron looks typically ill at ease, despite her tailored suit, whilst Queen Camilla seems relaxed, happy and entirely at home.

Also, regardless of her taste in prints, you’ve got to admire a woman who can segue so smoothly from full glam to waving off the high profile guests before chilling at the tennis with her sis.

Going back to the state dinner, Ruby jewels would have looked fabulous on Kate with that dress.

I loved the colour of the dress but not the Cape and the high neckline together - she looked a bit swamped in fabric.
A lower neckline would allow for some beautiful rubies she has - see pics of matching necklace and earings. She has a Ruby ring to match as well somewhere. And Ruby tiara to finish would have been perfect!

That black velvet gown is another good look that Kate has never repeated. Shame, as she looked fab that night.

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 09/07/2025 20:32

Yes that's one of my top favourites of all time and I'd love her to wear it again.

Sidebeforeself · 09/07/2025 21:12

Re Kate’s rewears…I have absolutely no problem with rewears and she should do more of them in my opinion. But ! She doesn’t seem to rewear the fab stuff and I think a gorgeous gown /frock should have more than one showing. She as enough jewels/shoes/accessories to mic up the look so why doesn’t she revisit outfits more often. Especially evening wear ..she has so many gorgeous dresses we have never seen again.

Eaumyword · 09/07/2025 21:18

I absolutely love Cam's animal dress.

RomainingCalm · 09/07/2025 21:27

Completely agree with this, Camilla looks so comfortable compared to Mme Macron who looked desperately awkward in that (horrible) beige suit.

Kate looked amazing in the black velvet dress but I seem to think it drew even more than the usual comparisons with Diana so I wonder whether it’s gone in the charity shop bag.

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 09/07/2025 21:39

Yes it was very similar to one Diana wore very early on. I expect it's archived away.

I agree with you on all your points! That picture shows a marked difference, doesn't it? Camilla seems confident and happy. I think she looks better in the shirt dresses than some styles.

I was just reading that poor Mme Macron lost her sister Anne Marie last week. No wonder she looked uncomfortable and distracted. That must have been a real challenge for her to do the official visit, in the circumstances.

I did think Mme Macron looked stony faced at times but have just read that her sister, who she apparently adored, died last week.
Peter Phillips and girlfriend Harriet also at Wimbledon.

Choux · 09/07/2025 21:55

The DM is reporting that Brigitte’s sister died last week and that is why she seemed subdued and uncomfortable. She may well have just been going through the motions. I like to think Camilla understood and made her feel more at ease given she lost her brother a few years ago.

Papergirl1968 · 09/07/2025 21:56

Cross post with @Choux

Im sorry if my typos made this post read like nonsense! Hopefully you get the gist

Banquet for the Macrons at the Guildhall tonight, and as usual the Gloucesters are there to represent the King. Another stunning outing for Brigitte Gloucester, who has the most amazing jewel collection. Another Star Trek shoulder dress for Mme Macron. The Lord Mayor’s wife has a nice tiara too.

Maireas · 09/07/2025 22:13

Ah, Birgitte and Brigitte! My autocorrect has fun with those names! The Gloucester jewel collection is superb, and Birgitte's dress is just right. I'm not sure about Brigitte's, as.pp say, it's all about the Star Wars shoulders! However, she does look elegant.

Totally agree about the shirt dress style. Definitely Camilla’s best look and the one in which she seems most comfortable

Not too keen on the Lord Mayor‘s wife’s dress. It looks a bit like it’s pulling at the front where it is ruched. Not massively keen on satin in that colour either

Cassiope · 09/07/2025 22:25

I was on the fence about the shoulder embellishment on Mme Macron's blue gown, but I'd give this version a thumbs up. Very effective with fair hair.

The satiny dress with the unfinished gathering in the midriff looks dreadful though and the sludge colour isn't helping.

Choux · 09/07/2025 22:42

Birgitte must be tiny! She makes Brigitte seem almost large and I was struck by how slim Brigitte looked in her suit earlier today.

I agree - It looks like the bodice needed better fitting as the ruching seems to be simultaneously pulling down her boobs but bagging around the waist. Also the skirt has a lot of creases.

Maireas · 10/07/2025 06:04

I really liked Lady Starmer's dress, very summery and elegant.
