Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

He did the starter and dessert. Here’s the starter - summer vegetables with tomato vinaigrette. And a blackcurrant parfait for dessert.

Not blooming chicken for the main, boring. I'd love to try the blackcurrant parfait.

The cocktail sounds vile. Gin, lemon curd and dried flowers yuck.

Cassiope · 08/07/2025 22:16

Not quite sure about juniper and aniseed as a flavour combo myself, nor can I see a dead flower garnish improving matters... Pastis with a splash of water and a dash of fresh grapefruit juice for me please!

Unusually for me, since I nearly always think they just look a bit odd, I like Princess Anne's bolero.

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 08/07/2025 22:21

Yes Anne, Sophie and Birgitte as a trio in white makes perfect sense in this case so as not to become too muddled.

I like the sound of the cocktail (love lemon curd and the herbal flavours go well together IMO). But dried flower sprinkles...eh, don't really like bits in my drinks!

I love all the jewels - gorgeous.

I'm not a fan of Catherine's dress. I don't like the cape sleeve look (although she absolutely rocked it with the Bond premier dress). I liked her day outfit but wasn't a fan of the colour.

Is this the green off the shoulder dress referred to up thread

That dress is a stunner. I think the sashes/honours are quite restrictive they only really work against quite plain dresses. Mme Macron could have gone for something a bit fancier as she doesn't have the restrictions of a sash or the bling of a tiara - but I guess something frothy or sparkly wouldn't be very French in style.

You may be on to something there. If the Bayeux Tapestry can be loaned out then why not ? However I would be happy to accept Margaret’s Persian Turquoise if it were available….

Just so @Maireas can check if this tiara is available! 💐

bluegreygreen · 08/07/2025 22:31

What tiara is Anne wearing?

Camilla is wearing her order on her right shoulder when normally it’s on the left? And she normally secured her sash with a brooch? I wonder if she left her brooch and orders behind and they had to scramble about for an order for her? Maybe borrowed one off the Duchess of Gloucester or something who wouldn’t maybe be noticed so much not wearing one.

I do love Camilla in a tiara. 👑. She has amazing tiara hair. I like Catherine’s dress. Would have preferred a different tiara but that’s just my lust for seeing jewels!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 08/07/2025 22:50

Were there no ruby tiaras in the vault to go with Kate's red dress?

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 08/07/2025 22:51

There's the Oriental Circlet @KiIIingMeDeftly and I wish she'd have been given it to wear!!

justasking111 · 08/07/2025 22:53

Shame that the French don't still have the Marie Antoinette tiara. Would have suited Mme Macron

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 08/07/2025 23:06

Birgitte definitely wearing both of her family orders today, so if the Queen had to borrow one it has to have been another one.

Bowdownbitches · 08/07/2025 23:16

Love Catherine’s and Anne’s looks. Catherine really suits jewel colours. Anne is so chic.

They have plenty of the former French royals’ jewels in the Louvre - but it was it would I imagine be politically unacceptable to borrow them!

locketrocket · 08/07/2025 23:25

Camilla and Catherine both knocked it out of the park tonight - stunning.

Just a thought with Catherine and tiaras. My mum is currently going through treatment, and whilst she isn’t losing her hair, she can’t bear anything too heavy or tight on her head (not that she has any tiaras I’m aware of 😁) That may have influenced the tiara choice.

Pallisers · 08/07/2025 23:33

I do wish the royals would give all the jewels in the vault an airing. Either that or put them on display so we can see them.

I love shiny things!

I would be honoured if you could allocate it for me on the Spreadsheet of Splendour 🙇‍♀️

Maireas · 09/07/2025 07:19

Done! There are loads of names on there which don't appear anymore, I suppose people have name changed.

I've probably name changed 3 or 4 times since I popped some sparklies on the sheet of splendor.

Yes, I'm guessing that's what's happened with a lot of posters.

If I were the President's Wife I think I'd buy myself a tiara. It's not that expensive to get a basic one...

That's probably not the image you want to go for in France.

I haven't seen the live feed but I do like Kate's dress. Did all state dinner not used to be white dresses?

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 09/07/2025 07:54

Heh yes! Tbf I hadn't necessarily meant the French President's wife! 😆😆

I have about 20 names on the Spreadsheet of Splendour, I should think. Someday I'll try to remember them all (I don't 'own' them all anymore as I've de-registered a few times).
