Well style mavens, that last thread went quickly! Let's hope we get more royal fashion to analyse. I think we need some tiara action, though.

Speaking of tiaras...had meant to ask, @Maireas, if Princess Lillian's Laurel Wreath tiara isn't spoken for I'd very much like to have it. I'm missing something quite subtle for the supermarket run.💐

I would be very happy if I do, but I’m not aware of one. If there is one going spare I would be eternally grateful 🙏

@WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal - it doesn't look like it's taken - it would be perfect!

I'm wondering what Raymond Blanc has dreamt up for the menu tonight.

He did the starter and dessert. Here’s the starter - summer vegetables with tomato vinaigrette. And a blackcurrant parfait for dessert.

I love all the jewels - gorgeous.

I'm not a fan of Catherine's dress. I don't like the cape sleeve look (although she absolutely rocked it with the Bond premier dress). I liked her day outfit but wasn't a fan of the colour.

Is this the green off the shoulder dress referred to up thread

Yes it is! Beautiful

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 08/07/2025 21:54

In the spirit of the Entente Cordial, the Royal Household has collaborated with Chef Raymond Blanc OBE, an Ambassador for The King’s Foundation, to create a First Course and Dessert for the menu tonight.

Guests will dine on a selection of pre-dinner canapes, Assiette de Légumes d’Été, Vinaigrette de Tomates Crues, Huile d’Olive Vierge, and a selection of tender summer vegetables from the gardens of Le Manoir with sage, raw tomato and Extra Virgin Olive Oil dressing.

Also on the menu are Suprême de Poulet Fermier à l’Argenteuil, Supreme of Rhug Estate Chicken with Norfolk Asparagus and Tarragon Cream, Le Cassis and to wash it all down: Iced Blackcurrant Parfait on a Blackcurrant-soaked Sponge with Elderflower Jelly and Café et Petit Fours.

After dinner, guests will be served Taylor’s 1977 Vintage Port and a 1948 Grande Champagne Cognac by Frapin & Co, selected to reflect the years of The President’s and His Majesty’s birth in 1977 and 1948 respectively.

A cocktail has also been created for the occasion, called L’entente, combining British gin with lemon curd and French pastis, garnished with dried French cornflowers and English roses.

Love the sound of the menu, not too heavy.

What's your take on the flowers, @Cassiope ?

Sadly I haven't seen any close-ups and although the menu has been published, no-one seems to have thought that some of us might be interested in the flowers! I wouldn't be surprised if they are homegrown - the colours are right for British summer flowers (pink, mauve, blueish, white) and I can't see any of the florist’s exotic staples. At this time of year there would be an abundance of choice. The pink spires might be Consolida (larkspur) or maybe Matthiola incana (rocket) - or even Sidalcea. From an aesthetic point of view I'm not wild about the fern foliage, but it's a fairly impressive jungle.

It might be in keeping with King Charles’s interests to have British grown, cottage garden-style flowers. In theory you could probably supply flowers and foliage for state banquets and everyday use from cutting gardens in a couple of the royal residences, but whether that's what happens is a different matter.

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 08/07/2025 21:57

@Cassiope I posted an overview above if you're interested!

Lunde · 08/07/2025 21:57

Lemon curd gin!!🍸🍸🍸

Maireas · 08/07/2025 21:58

Yes, I think they're very pretty summer colours. Not too heavy or ornate.

Also the flowers will be distributed to hospices, care homes and domestic abuse shelters afterwards.

William looks very proud of Kate tonight too

StartupRepair · 08/07/2025 22:00

Love Camilla's sapphires and Kate's airport outfit.

ExitPursuedByABare · 08/07/2025 22:04

Loving the sound of the cocktail.

The Daily Mail’s menu isn’t quite accurate. Here’s a photo of the menu - there is only one supreme of chicken and it’s with carrots and broccoli not asparagus.

I've just spent too long looking at a photo of Camilla trying to work out what was "wrong" - she's only got her family order from Charles on. Her one from QEII is missing.

It's also interesting that Kate is in such a deep colour when the other royal ladies are all in white.

The protocol of all these little things must keep some royal staffers very busy.

@smilesy would be happy to lend it to you.

I don't know if Margaret's Persian Turquoise tiara is taken but if it isn't you could have that if it appeals...I highly covet it but I already have quite a collection and I don't want to be greedy so maybe we could work out some kind of exchange programme.

Yes I noticed that too and wondered why she's not wearing QEII's.

Camilla and Catherine are most senior, so their clothing is most important diplomatically and will likely be coordinated in the instance of a visit like this with very close ties.

Red, white, and the blue of Mme Macron.

The less senior royal ladies often all wear white (or at least it's not unusual).

Choux · 08/07/2025 22:10

The chicken is from this organic farm in Wales and is cooked the Argenteuil way which seems to be a braised dish. Argenteuil is a town in France which was popular with an Impressionist painter or too. Renoir from memory.

That reminds me of that photo of Catharina-Amalia as a child playing dress-up with Maxima's priceless tiara...imagine that!

You may be on to something there. If the Bayeux Tapestry can be loaned out then why not ? However I would be happy to accept Margaret’s Persian Turquoise if it were available….

Red, white and blue for the 3 senior ladies at the banquet, Catherine, Camilla and Brigitte. Maybe Anne and Sophie in white so as not to upset those optics?
