I am 52 never been to an outside gig before - I have managed to get Oasis tickets! ( not even that bothered about seeing them ) but my kids want to go.

What do I wear?? where do I start?

I am 52, size 16, I am so far out of my comfort zone its untrue!

A sun hat, somehow I always end up with the sun in my eyes, though, waterproof coat if rain rather than sun forecast. Very comfortable shoes or trainers. Jeans and t shirt type clothes, cross body bag so you aren't holding it, check the bag regulations though, some are pretty strict on size.

No bigger than A4 size. I only need my phone, power bank and lipstick!

Old gimmer here who saw them back in the day at Finsbury Park. It was proper 4 seasons in one day and I wore a knee length denim skirt, vest top with light cagoule over, nice but not my best trainers and a bucket hat, for both SPF and PIB (piss in bottles) reasons.

Perfect outfit as I had some protection from the rain but it meant my legs dried very, very quickly. Wet jeans are horrendously uncomfortable and will not dry for hours.

Took a pack of baby wipes in a cross body bag so could easily clean all the piss soaked mud off my legs from where idiots next to me decided to mud angel in a puddle someone else had literally just urinated in. 😳

Yes was planning on taking baby wipes and anti bac wipes for the toilets!

I went to oasis at Wembley years ago. It chucked it down. We just had jeans and t-shirts so got soaked but it was just part of the atmosphere to be dancing around happy in the pouring rain. Best gig of my life.

I generally find that provided I’m warm and comfy up top I’m ok with my legs uncovered

its2025 · 26/06/2025 14:16

Am I the only one thinking whats with all the piss comments???

Been to many many gigs over the years both inside and out and have never come across any piss being thrown. Is it just an Oasis thing? If so I'm glad i'm not going!!!!!

yeesh · 26/06/2025 14:20

The piss is very common at some gigs, Liam G gigs are horrendous for it. Hopefully the stadium ones will be a better mix of fans so it won’t be too bad

MorrisZapp · 26/06/2025 14:22

I've got a lengthy list of pet peeves about the Stone Roses Heaton Park gig - never again - but flying piss isn't one of them 😂

I'll see Oasis seated at Murrayfield and I'm hoping to get away with a sundress - it's all about the weather.

MiddleAgedDread · 26/06/2025 14:25

@MorrisZapp it's always cold at Murrayfield! It could be 35 degrees outside and it'll be cold in there. It's got a microclimate of it's own. Also: Scottish summer!!

Jemimapuddleduk · 26/06/2025 14:29

Be prepared to be covered in beer and urine so I’d go with a longer length cagoule that can go straight in wash when you get home, bucket hat to protect your hair, leather shoes and bag that can easily be wiped down once home. I know all this from experience of having plastic cups of all sorts being thrown at courteeners gigs.
Despite this you will have a fab time, ENJOY!!

Yeah it's location and performer specific. You're not going to get piss thrown over you at a jazz gig!

I was just thinking this. I’ve never been to an actual Oasis gig but I saw them at Glastonbury twice back in the 90s, and I have been to gazillions of concerts before and since.

Is the piss a thing that I have somehow managed to miss?

Whocanresist · 26/06/2025 14:34

Reading with interest as I am going to an outdoor gig tonight! The last time I went to one it got windy when the sun went down and I was literally shivering for hours despite dancing around. Also I was wearing more clothes than the young ones who didn’t seem to notice the cold. I am wearing my knee length thermal socks under my jeans this evening!

Yes sorry I totally get no one person will be looking at me.

Not going to make any decisions until I know the weather, but was thinking jeans, walking boots and a dry robe?

A dry robe?! In July?!?!

A t-shirt with jeans / shorts and trainers or Birkenstocks is fine. Or a casual dress / jumpsuit with trainers.

AgathaX · 26/06/2025 14:43

Don't wear anything you'd be upset about getting ruined. Urine bleaches dark colours. Orange splats on a black hat - not lovely!

You are aware that the weather in July itsn't always tropical - it is an outdoor gig and there will be lots of liquid being thrown around!

I LOVE a gig, in the last few years:

We did Foo Fighters last summer and I wore doc martin sandals a leopard print cami vest and a cheap satin midaxi skirt, I took a cardigan too for the walk home!

Slam Dunk festival this year I did a oversized band shirt, denim shorts and low heel cowboy boots, took a jumper with a big lobster on the front as the sun was in and out all day

Jimmy Eat World a few weeks ago again denim vest thing black cotton maxi and doc martin sandals, no jacket as it was BOILING

I'm 33 and a size10

Gigs are always boiling when you are in them so 9/10 I opt for shorts or a skirt, you can absolutely wear sandals as long as they attach to your feet - not slip on

100% get the Uniqlo crescent cross body bag or similar to keep your personal effects safe!

Fibrous · 26/06/2025 14:48

There's a certain contingent of Manc lad who just loves to throw piss around. Ditto Reading festival. Got covered in piss there too but I was a teenager then and thought it was vaguely funny. Middle aged woman, not so much.

As a Northerner born and bred I am absolutely aware of this 😂I have also been to multiple gigs at Heaton Park and honestly, a Dry Robe is overkill. A fleece lined jacket just really is not necessary at a gig in July when you are going to be packed in with 10s of 1000s of people. Also what are you going to do with it if the sun comes out and / or you get warm? Not ideal to be holding onto for hours.

Maybe a poncho type thing in case it rains.
