I had an outfit quite like Eugenie’s in the 1970s. But underwear was a trendy look then!

I think I did as well!

Is it a dress or a top and skirt? If the latter - with my adult eye - I would say that I like the pieces but not together as the gathered skirt paired with the peplum look too much.

Each piece would look better if the skirt was paired with a fitted top or t shirt and the peplum top with a fitted skirt/trousers

Iloveshihtzus · 26/06/2025 11:03

I loved that article on Maxima - she really is my favourite Royal in terms of style.

I know we’ve discussed before that Kate doesn’t want clothes to detract from her work etc, but Maxima proves, that if you have true style, you can use your clothes to talk. Of course, I totally understand that if you have no interest in clothes, this will not work for you, and I would not impose this on any Royal, male or female. But those who love clothes really brighten my day (thinking of King Felipe here too!!!!).

MotherofPearl · 26/06/2025 13:01

I’m not keen on Mary’s asymmetrical hemline there, but I’ve seen some of her other outfits from the Nigerian tour that I like a lot (the pleated skirt and red shirt look especially).

I don’t think Eugenie suits white (or is that a cream?). I say that as someone who absolutely cannot wear white, at least not next to my face.

Watched an incredible documentary on Nigeria Michael Palin made. Wonderful modern city, no crime but 24/7 guards to protect the inhabitants.

The crew drove 7 miles down the road to tented communities.

Did Mary see both I wonder.

slinkiemalinkiey · 26/06/2025 14:45

You mean like a gated community?

Papergirl1968 · 26/06/2025 14:55

Eugenie is wearing a skirt and top, apparently. She works in an art gallery so maybe that’s why she was there.
Lady Helen Taylor also attended.

No it was the whole city. A newish one interesting architecture, only for people that could afford it. I'll have to look it up.

Chesticles · 26/06/2025 15:22

Lady Helen Taylor is wearing crocs 😮Next we'll see Williams fleece back out and about!. Or one of those wolf printed fleeces on Camila

Lady Helens crocs are an interesting choice 🤔
I wondered if there was a white theme, but appears not. Maybe Lady Helen arrived in her croca, then realised her lovely shoes were in a bag on the hall table? (I could relate to that!)

Cassiope · 26/06/2025 16:32

Hmm. Having seen Lady Helen’s outfit it seems art gallery galas aren't as glam as I had assumed. I actually prefer Eugenie's more distinctive outfit. Lady H’s dress looks eminently wearable and nice, but very MOR. The jacket reinforces the nice but ordinary impression - something sharper and more tailored would have been a good contrast with the simplicity of the dress.

Whilst I can appreciate that crocs might be arty fashionable and I yield to no-one in my enthusiasm for flat, comfortable shoes being acceptable when dressed up, nothing will make me regard plastic footwear with anything other than loathing.

FGS take your snide comments elsewhere. People with jobs have time off, didn't you know 😱😱 and princesses do tend to have sufficient funds for 'swanning around' as you put it.

Tedious.

There are numerous threads for you to discuss that sort of thing. Leave us to the fun of fashions and fripperies and choose any one of them to complain to your heart's content!

Exactly. This thread seems to have been targeted a bit from the start, for some reason. As has been clearly said upthread, there is a Royal Family board for people to start discussions about the royals and their foibles. This is Style and Beauty.

There is now a mini-series about Harald and Sonja's courtship on Amazon Prime but it isn't available in the UK yet.

Theirs is quite the love story and has all the necessary elements for drama - girl meets boy but he's a prince, king opposes their marriage, prince gives king ultimatum etc etc!

Thanks for this. I had no idea there was a series, and as I am in the States, I have been able to watch it. It's dubbed into English, but they do a good job with the dubbing. It's well done, I think, and the acting is quite good. QEII, Prince Philip, and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother make appearances as well. In fact, the opening scenes are at Windsor Castle.

CurlewKate · 26/06/2025 20:11

That’s what we want. More crocs in public life!

Down with crocs! Since her foot problems Leti has shown that stylish flat footwear exists! Crocs are an abomination.

Which are the stylish shoes that have air cushioning? I'd really like to know because plantar fasciitis plus arthritis and nerve damage have reduced me to Crocs or Hotter air cushioned walking shoes. Can't do any sort of heel at all as it pushes more pressure onto the inflamed and damaged joints.

MotherofPearl · 26/06/2025 23:15

Sorry @Lundethat does sound really painful. 😥

Here's Leti at a Santander event, in a new Massimo Dutti white dress with black accessories. Normally I don't like white with a black belt and shoes, but I think it works here. The slim silhouette is very flattering, and Leti's hair and makeup on point as usual.
Gorgeous earrings 😍
