Also, going back to Fred 'n' Mary, nice to see Fred dressing up in traditional costumes after the comments about the men getting out of it usually.

My male Norwegian colleagues often dress up for their national days and other important events.

Sophie and Anne at the King's Foundation Awards. I don't normally like a big pattern, but I think Sophie's dress is nice and a bit of a departure from her usual pastels. Anne in royal blue. I'm just noting how much Edward looks like his late mother, now.

The pair attended an event with King Charles, the Duke of Edinburgh and more

Edward looks so wizened, like a little old man of 90. He’s only 61. I met him maybe 6 years ago and he’s aged exponentially since then. I wonder if he’s unwell; he has very bulbous looking fingers, like Charles.

Maireas · 12/06/2025 22:56

That's a bit harsh! Poor Edward.

Ha, I love that the article refers to Charles as 'the husband of Queen Camilla'. I think the word they were looking for is King.

Edward has lost weight since his parents deaths (he didn't have much to lose) that can be quite ageing.

HI everyone, I am not as active on this thread but I do follow along, I love all the insights.

Going back to Catherine and the stilettos, I wonder does she do a 'stiletto botox'? She walks with such ease and grace no matter how high the heels are, there has to be a tip she can pass on.

Perhaps Mary's daughter just plain refused to wear a costume, can't imagine it would be difficult to put their hands on one in her size, but I can see a teen not wanting to be seen wearing one.

I don't think that's it. I think Mary would (rightly) explain the expectation and it would be made clear that if you want to do the fun bits, you also get to be dutiful and observe tradition. She just seems that kind of woman.

Apparently it takes up to a year to make one of those suits.

While I wouldn’t be seen dead wearing stiletto courts, so very dated - I admire Kate’s ability to walk in them with such ease.

Yes the royal women are all well practised at it. Remember Mary and Catherine striding purposely across the cobbles without a care in the world? I could do it with ease up to a few years ago too. After lockdown I wore some not-even-that-high heels and my body had totally forgotten how to properly walk/move in them!

I'm glad trends have changed.

WorkingRoyalNotTwerkingRoyal · 13/06/2025 07:36

Oh, I forgot my royal namechange! Will see if MNHQ will fix it for me...

Thanks for the shiny new thread @Maireas! 💐👑 ✨

Leti looks great there.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 13/06/2025 07:55

It's not like the royal woman are walking miles in their stilettos or waiting at bus stops etc. They're chauffeured to events and walk around for an hour or two and then get back in their car. Wearing heels just for a short amount of time isn't hard!

Thats true, but walking around on the floors of the V&A can't be easy in stilettos, the floor looks like concrete or porcelain, apparently she spent the morning there, so several hours at least..

True! I wore them at the office and it never bothered me because I wasn't on my feet all day.

Eaumyword · 13/06/2025 14:18

Sophie's dress is quite pretty.

Maireas · 13/06/2025 16:48

Cute! I like the fact that the baby is wearing a sash! Sofia's yellow is nice and bright, although I don't like the thick hairband at the back of her head. Elegant looks all round, otherwise.

I like Sophie’s dress. Not so keen on Leti’s.
