I bloody love brown (1970’s cords and crimplene notwithstanding 😂)

I'm sure you look lovely. I saw a colleague with a really lovely chocolate brown pair of trousers, but, still.... not without therapy...

A step too far. It was definitely a brown decade.

I think the fabrics were part of the problem though. Lots of sweaty nylons etc. I have vague memories of a particularly grim brown checked sofa in one of my grandparent’s houses. However, I have enjoyed wearing brown of late and I am particularly fond of my M&S faux leather brown jeans (surprisingly unsweaty) teamed with a brown cable jumper.
I can see how earlier decades use of brown could have a negative influence though 😆

Yes. Very unpleasant fabrics. A 3 day week, power cuts and everyone on strike. Happy days 🎉

Sorry! Got a bit triggered by the colour brown there 😂!
You're going to have to help me move forward with this, style friends 😉

I have a similar problem with burgundy, unfortunately. Love the colour but it is worn by sixth formers in the school near where I work so I find it difficult to wear 😔😆

Oh yes, I was the same about cobalt blue when I worked in a school where that was the colour of the jumpers. It's tough.

I'm quite fond of those smudgy 70s colours, they bring me in mind of my grandparents' very stylish mid century modern home with 70s accents.

That's probably why I'm one of the few in the Erdem camp!

I know! It was a general comment about the direction some posters seems to be going. Not you specifically 😄

I respectfully disagree. The opening comment from which the others ensued was about the child, not the dress. However, that's the last from me on the topic too.

Marie looks very pretty there, that's a floral dress I can get on board with, it's not too fussy and really suits her.
Someone should definitely get Kate, Mary and Marie at an event together......

Even their husbands might be hard pushed to tell who's who!

Oh yes it was, at the very least, a catalyst. But as you say, let’s move on 😆

locketrocket · 15/06/2025 17:54

I really like Mary’s look, and partial to a county inspired look myself.

Ah, shit. Look, anyone who could possibly interpret “I really hope that Charlotte’s dress was what she wanted most in all the world to wear….”
as a criticism of the child has a spectacular imagination.

slinkiemalinkiey · 15/06/2025 18:06

CurlewKate · 15/06/2025 15:12

Sigh. I don’t get my knickers in a twist. And I didn’t say she looked uncomfortable. She looked very smiley. I just think it was a dull dress, and I hoped it was her choice, rather than chosen to fit the brand. Other people are making a much bigger deal out of it than I did!

Yet again you have played with words here that you used earlier. We are used to this on the RF Board as you regularly demonstrate this. You have made insinuations about Catherine's cancer before. It's very sad that you have used this thread to bring your battle here. Others have pointed out to you the nature of this thread. I would respect you more if you said you were having a dig.
Apologies to @Maireasfor bringing this up and I won't engage with this person on here but felt it needed to be said.

We work quite hard here on this thread to avoid certain vibes. If people are going to get really offended by that then this thread probably isn't the one for you.

We have moved on, flower. Please do the same. Do you have a view on brown as a colour you could wear?

I didn't interpret it that way.

Yes, indeed. Many, many others to choose from.

Would we say Mary's outfit is a bit country?
A suitable look for the visit, I think. Are they standing in front of a giant orange dinosaur, or is it some Faroese traditional creature?

It absolutely has the county look but cut more stylishly I think. I like it.

I went to two secondary schools. I still can't wear grey or burgundy knitwear 🤣

gingercat02 · 15/06/2025 18:33

I love brown, being ginger, it really suits me. It does however remind me of my brownie uniform. I have a big issue with maroon due to school tunics.
Not overly keen on Mary's skirt.
Love Marie's dress, very fresh and summery.
I'm going against the grain on Kate being a looky-likey with Marie and Mary, but agree they are startling similar.

Jakers it's cold in the Faroe Islands. I'd have my damart dressing gown on over that outfit 🥶
