Just vanilla 28 today. We’re having a rare rainy day today so it feels appropriate and I was looking for something heavier and comforting.

Zoetrope1 · 22/07/2025 08:02

I was also in the mood for something comforting and went for Parisian Musc. It’s warm and cosy but also green and would work in the warmer seasons.

IDontHateRainbows · 22/07/2025 14:59

Mat Prem vanilla powder today, it's a strong one and I did get comments in the office but luckily positive ones!

Have to be very careful with mat prem in public, they are extrait level strong despite not being described as such.

Managed to shift most of the liberty scent kit keeping sun rae and avant l'orage for myself. The Berber Blonde isn't shifting so I don't think that's a popular one. Addy cal season nearly upon us so hoping for some good offerings, not especially enamoured with the liberty one so far but will probably buy it due to FOMO

I wore Lust in Paradise from the scent kit today. I like it but it really smells like Delina to me. I'll use it but it feels a bit redundant as I have 15ml of Delina which I think has a bit more staying power.

Zoetrope1 · 22/07/2025 22:53

Sampling a couple of Molinard fragrances today:

  • Vanilla Patchouli - vanilla and slightly earthy patchouli, very linear and smells as you would expect it to. Not too dense or heavy.
  • Patchouli Intense - gourmand patchouli with praline. Smells a bit like Angel but less intense and therefore more wearable.

Both are nice but I prefer Vanilla Patchouli. Would be great for layering.

IDontHateRainbows · 23/07/2025 08:27

Carolina Herrerra Good Girl today - trying to be slightly less obvious in the office! this one has really grown on me - never thought I'd get into it as the name Good Girl makes me want to puke.

Couldn't wait for addy cal season to start so I've ordered last years selfridges AC which was on Ebay and should land today - there will be Byredo Rose of No Man's Land in there plus some Crivelli which I may sell on but I'll keep the Byredo. I'm not usually a rose fan but I remember liking this one plus I have a soft spot for Byredo. They were in a few addy cals last year so I'm hoping they will make an appearance in this years.

Its only a few weeks til the 2025 ones start coming out - oh lordy - if it's anything like last year I'll buy them all with a view to creaming off what I want and selling the rest to make up the cost (or nearly). Did this when out of work last year mainly to keep myself busy whilst inbetween jobs. Will definitely be buying all the fragrance ones if I can get my hands on them before they sell out.

Trying out Bibbi Swimming Pool from the scent kit today. I thought I wouldn't like this but actually it's quite nice, very fresh and a bit...swimming pool! It might not be one I'll reach for a lot but I was expecting to hate it and I don't.

OvaHere · 23/07/2025 10:25

@IDontHateRainbows I like Rose of No Man's Land too. I have a 6ml of it. I don't think I dislike anything from Byredo that I've tested although I have my favourites. They've just released a new one called Alto Astral.

Also very excited for the AC's this year. I didn't buy any fragrance ones last year so keen to try at least one.

ThesophisticatedJY · 23/07/2025 14:14

Jo Malone Raspberry Ripple for me today , it’s very soft . Needs reapplying throughout the day , I wouldn’t repurchase .

Very interested to read this ,I really didn’t like Swimming Pool , smelt quite horrible on me . I found it difficult to give it away .

I wasn't keen when I sprayed it in the lid. Was sure I wouldn't like it but on my skin I find it okay. I can see that it wouldn't be a very popular scent though.

IDontHateRainbows · 23/07/2025 19:50

Another one who didn't get on with swimming pool. It has camphor in the scent profile which I associate with Vicks vapo rub or something.

Rose of no man's land today from the 24 selfridges AC. Not usually a rose fan but liking this one for a change

My samples came and did a quick sniff test of the wulong cha and gris charnel. WC is the extrait version and so far I really like it but don’t find it very strong so hope I haven’t bought a fake sample 😅 GC is very cardamom forward on very first sniff but I haven’t tested on skin yet. Think I’ll love both and excited to wear them properly.

Zoetrope1 · 24/07/2025 03:46

@paristotokyo oh no, I hope not! To be fair I don’t find it super potent the way hibiscus mahajad, tubereuse astral or Naxos are, but it lasts all day on skin which is pretty incredible for a freshie!

paristotokyo · 24/07/2025 04:05

@Zoetrope1So I’ve been wearing it a while and it’s still definitely there! I totally love it actually. There is a mall with a nishane store (and BDK!) so I think I’m going to visit to compare my decants.. its just not that close so will make a trip over

IDontHateRainbows · 24/07/2025 06:51

The other fragrance from the AC I tried was crivelli infra rouge which I think is a selfridges exclusive. It's very 'crivelli '... strong, leathery and deep but then the raspberry comes out strong and it becomes fruity
Wasn't sure at first but it grew on me so I'll keep it.

The rose of no man's land is nice enough but has confirmed that I'm just not a rose fan generally. One of those smells I just don't 'get' why it's so popular. But we are all different and probably someone else can't work out why I love cherry so much for example.

Been hitting up the laura mercier ambre vanille today, as I have the body oil and spritzed the edp on top. It's a comforting, inoffensive scent. Great for night time as somehow quite relaxing.

Today I’m testing gris charnel. I get a huge hit of cardamom on first spray, which is a little nostalgic for me as it reminds me of my mums cooking. It’s settled down and it’s really lovely but I don’t think it’s performing as well as it could as it’s a cold weather scent imo. I’ll use it on a/c evenings I think. But I’ve fallen in love with wulong cha X and I’m glad I bought a 5ml as I can’t afford a full bottle right now but it’s on my next to buy list, for sure.

Zoetrope1 · 25/07/2025 10:42

@paristotokyo really glad you’re enjoying them!

Thé Noir for me today. I think this is my favourite from Le Labo.

OvaHere · 25/07/2025 10:52

Trying Lbty Maze from the scent kit today. It's a bit peony mixed with Earl Grey. I quite like it. Some similarities I think to Dear Polly but sweeter. I think I prefer Dear Polly but this is okay.

Edited to add - as it dries down it really reminds me of how my Grandma's garden would smell in the summer mornings. So quite a nostalgic, comforting scent for me.

CorneliaStreet · 25/07/2025 16:41

Trying Prada Infusion d’Amande. The almond opening is lovely and now it’s settled down it’s more powdery than I was expecting, but it’s a lovely soft, comforting kind of scent.

Blingismything · 25/07/2025 19:51

Hypnotic Poison from a vintage bottle, still smells good

Sounds lovely. It's on my list to try from scent addict.

Tried nest indigo. On paper, t ticks all my boxes... figgy, tea... but I'm not loving it for some reason. It's OK but I'm not compelled to re spray.

Scent is so weird! Why some scents we can't get enough of and others are meh or yuk! And everyone is different!

Hermes Rhubarb - nice and bright.

Havering about getting the Fugazzi sample set as you get a free washbag with it. Not the most subtle of houses but I honestly quite like the straightforward in-your-face-ness of them, no punches pulled.
