What item of clothing do you think is pointless and well, a bit strange?

For me it's the short sleaved coat. Don't see the point at all, not a body warmer and not a proper coat, you'd have to put leg warmers for arms on with it (if such a thing exists).

Teeny tiny clutch bags are known as "a purse" in our house.

ninedragons · 20/05/2008 11:05

Shrugs. Why would anyone buy a pair of sleeves?

Pretty much anything made of synthetic fibres but nylon underwear in particular is too gross for words.

DarthVader · 20/05/2008 12:57

raincoats without hoods

FAQ · 20/05/2008 13:05

yes what IS that supposed to mean ICod??

Did you not realised I got rid of the wanker just over 2 months ago????

And now not only have more stylish clothes and more modern clothes - but even wear make-up sometimes too!!!

TsarChasm · 20/05/2008 13:25

Snowsuits on babies.

Kewcumber · 20/05/2008 14:25

as a Tsar I presume you have been to Russia - they're pretty much required in winter.

Mind you not so essential here I suppose. I had to buiy one locally as the snowsuits here are pathetic!

Wuxiapian · 20/05/2008 17:05

Bras with nasty, plastic straps - buy a strapless bra or put some decent clothes on!

pagwatch · 20/05/2008 17:11

the current local look is shorts with tights underneath and ugg boots.
What a fucking stupid combo - are you cold ?are you hot? make your mind up.
when I see it in cold weather they just look freezing and when i see them in the hot weather it just sings 'sweaty feet, sweaty crotch '

Yes I am waiting with trepedation for my son to bring a similarly clad girl home. Will I be able to keep quiet?

Swedes · 20/05/2008 17:16

A shrug - a sort of breast warmer with short of three quarter sleeves.

Although I just bought a short swing cardi from Autograph (M&S) with a big satin tie and it's scrummy.

Swedes · 20/05/2008 17:16

Hoodies on babies.

Anna8888 · 20/05/2008 17:18

Actually, I think hoodies (pink cashmere ones) are only acceptable on babies

Slouchy · 20/05/2008 17:21

I farking hate gilets. Would make even SJP/Kate Moss look enormous if they wore them(which they wouldn't, nuff said)
Ties on blokes. Why?
But r.e. the plastic strap thing - if you wear a 30J bra like me, strapless ones ain't an option but you occasionally want to show off your shoulders (I give good shoulder, me). So what should I and others like me do? Is a Burka the only option?

barnstaple · 20/05/2008 17:24

Hate thongs. If you're worried about VPL don't wear knickers at all.

DH loves a good VPL by the way, and has been known to follow them in Tesco's!

Wuxiapian · 20/05/2008 17:32

30J, Slouchy? Wow, I am in awe.

I've seen extremely buxon ladies in strapless gowns - there must be someone who caters for these fabulous figures, surely?

Slouchy · 20/05/2008 17:36

Lol at 'in awe'.
I never do strapless - a pity cos I do have a nice back and good shoulders. Guess i could have a dress tailored but seems a pointless expense really. Cleavage would be about 6 inches long for a start! Would like to wear strappy tops in summer though -n and don't mention Bravissimo - they don't go big enough!

PortBlacksandResident · 20/05/2008 17:38

I think if i was young and slim i'd wear alot of the fashions that are about these days - they're really funky.

Fact is i'm neither and when i was culottes, manly waistcoats and kylie perms were all the rage.

Oh yes bras with plastic straps - who are they trying to kid?

And, sorry, but then I am an old lady: young men with jeans belted under their buttocks, showing underpants. Me and dcs always have a little laugh following those down the street.

frankie3 · 20/05/2008 18:19

In M&S they have loads of bra and vest sets. Do you wear the vest over a bra? What is the point of them?

Wuxiapian · 21/05/2008 06:30

Yes, eek!

And how the hairy heck do they defy gravity?

DelGirl · 21/05/2008 06:33

only read the 1st 2 posts and COD, I can't believe you picked someone up on their spelling lol
