Is this nice, or tacky?

I can’t decide. I sort of love it, but also think it looks like something a toddler would wear. I’m 45.

I actually don't hate it bit the fading on the front and the shape is dated, it's too fitted.

thegirlwithemousyhair · 11/05/2025 20:20

Not for me because its just not something I could see myself wearing and its not my style but if its your style then why not ?

FishPie2 · 11/05/2025 20:33

I saw an elderly lady at a church event today wearing something very similar. It looked very odd but would say she was nowhere near your age. 😀

SmallandSpanish · 11/05/2025 20:47

I like it. I’d have worn it years ago but im
not in that zone now. I’d go big. Worn over shoulders with floaty mid skirt and trainers. Small and you’re in danger of looking like you squeezed into kids clothes.

SmallandSpanish · 11/05/2025 20:49

The Vinted one up thread is a much better example

ToadRage · 11/05/2025 20:50

Love it. I like a lot of Joe Browns stuff but cannot always afford it. One of my favourite dresses is Joe Browns. I am 38 and would totally wear that.

Poonu · 11/05/2025 20:51

Nah

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 11/05/2025 20:53

I think it’s a bit of both actually OP! But I probably wouldn’t pay £100 for it.

TheOGCCL · 11/05/2025 20:55

I don’t get the point of it as you don’t get to see the appliqué yourself, might as well be a plain denim jacket for you.

Twattergy · 11/05/2025 21:36

Defo search embroidered denim jacket on vinted and get something cheaper and a bit nicer. Go up a size too as fitted denim is a bit dated, going baggier makes it more up to date.

DryIce · 11/05/2025 21:39

I am too boring a dresser for something like this - but i feel it may be trendy! Went to a (London, 30s/40s with kids crowd) festival the other weekend and saw a few of these kind of jackets about

If you love it and it will make you smile to see and own it, and pull it on - totally worth it

Hollieandtheivie · 11/05/2025 21:44

I don't dislike it. I think it looks cheerful.

Sassybooklover · 11/05/2025 21:57

Personally, I love it, but then I like quirky and different! 🤷

555Stars · 11/05/2025 22:01

I would never put a toddler in this loool

For an adult, it’s absolutely fine. I’m assuming it will go with your dress sense and style.
Better than the boring plain denim jacket and being 45 it works just as well.

Remember, you wear your clothes for you and not others…. If they don’t like it then they don’t need to look at it!

TheChosenTwo · 11/05/2025 22:04

I don’t know if I’d call it tacky but I really don’t like it.
I do like bright colourful cheerful clothing but this doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Viviennemary · 11/05/2025 22:06

Tacky.

KarCat · 11/05/2025 22:13

I thInk Joe Browns is a very “young” label tbh…and I say that as a 57 year old!

DevilledEgg · 11/05/2025 23:40

It's something my teenager would wear

Movingon75 · 12/05/2025 00:07

I have been divorced for 4yrs, we both moved away. My ex is supposed to see the kids every other weekend. What is peeing me off is he sends me the dates he can have the kids. There will often be a 3 week gap and I’ll say you have missed a weekend and he will just say I can’t have them that weekend I’m away. This is so annoying and gets under my skin because he knows I can’t do anything about it!

TheCountofMountingCrispBags · 12/05/2025 06:44

Eew, tacky
Very QVC!

Britpopbaby · 12/05/2025 07:13

£100 for that I’d really expensive. If you look at Vinted or charity shops you will probably be able to find something similar for much less. If you then decide you are done with it you can sell it or donate.

MrsEmmelineLucas · 12/05/2025 08:03

I like it! Denim jackets are boring, this adds some pep and colour! Then again I hate all this beige and grey, so that's my personal take.
Go for it!

GeorgianaM · 12/05/2025 10:09

Hideous. Reminds me of the early 2000’s. It wasn’t a good look then.

MerlinsBeard1 · 12/05/2025 10:24

Old hat.
