Am I the only person without a bracelet stack?!

I’m so crap at jewellery. Necklaces annoy me, I only wear wedding/engagement/eternity rings - they are tiny and probably some would scoff at the stone size, but anything big on me looks daft.

would really like to build a decent bracelet stack that doesn’t look like cheapo costume stuff…

any tips?

You’re definitely not the only one without a bracelet stack. I wear my wedding ring and that’s it. Earrings make my ears go puffy and sore. Necklaces, bracelets and rings are just annoying clutter to me. On the odd occasion I have worn jewellery for an event I’m so distracted by the sensation of it and can’t feel relaxed. I also find labels in clothes and some fabrics really irritating. For lots of reasons (including these) I think I could be ND.

Thank you @Ruthietuthie
2 diamond rings and part of a broken diamond bracelet - with lots of odd bits of gold from DM, DD and myself - lost single earrings etc 😊

What a fabulous idea!

No. HTH.

Seriously though, I wouldn't give this any thought whatsoever. As many have a stack as do not. Most I have seen look contrived, and have a particular hatred for those comprising the any of the following:

Cartier love bangle
Cartier screw bangle
Tiffany screw bracelet
Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra bracelet

(I feel similarly about ear stacks and actively cringe when people talk about their curated ears. Actually, I cringe whenever anyone uses curated when talking about their wardrobe.)

Agree with you completely on curated.

So, Cartier love bangles, I actually like the way they look, but am I the only one who finds the symbolism weird instead of touching? What happens if you're widowed? Do you need to throw your arm into the funeral pyre?

@user13457798 Haha, no idea. Given I removed my mother's diamond earrings from her. (still warm) dead body, I would probably have done similar should she have had a love bangle.

In theory, I love them too. Indeed, I wanted one in the early 2000s. However now, they're so common place and not only that, the fakes have got so good that Cartier refuse to authenticate them and I'd not trust any dealer to sell me an authentic pre-owned one.

DefinitelyMaybe92 · 09/05/2025 14:51

I know someone who has multiple jangly bracelets that “can’t” be removed! They look great on her, but them being a permanent fixture is the stuff of overstimulated nightmares for me.

I've worn my Love bracelet for 26 years and have only removed it a handful of times. No one really knew them back when I got mine. My Love was joined by a clou around 15 years ago, also worn permanently. I'll sometimes add a tennis bracelet to them.

I hope you got to them before the greedy cousin!! (sorry to make light of what must have been a painful moment).

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 09/05/2025 18:56

@user13457798 Ha. No greedy cousin! Tbh, they actually went into a safety deposit box and sat there for 20 years before I started to wear them. (I pretty much haven't taken them off since). Also should mention I'm Jewish, so the Burial Society are called and they take the recently deceased to be buried within 24 hours (if possible). So for me, it was more a case to remove them myself rather than someone else. I love them though, as did my mum (who wore them every day). I know its what she would have wanted anyway.

@Bluebellwood129 Yes, concur absolutely. Maybe if I'd have got one in the late 90s when I first saw them, I'd be wearing it. As it happens, I have a diamond tennis bracelet (also inherited), so wear that from time to time (but always on its own). I do feel that this (much like VC&A Alhambra) is a victim of its own success/globalisation/consumerism inasmuch as the more exposure they've had, the more commonplace they've become. (And yes, I know this makes me a snob. I don't care).

Bluebellwood129 · 09/05/2025 21:19

@bunnybunnybunnybunny I love a diamond tennis bracelet. A true classic, even better when it holds cherished memories.

You are not alone!

No bracelet stack and no intention of purchasing one. They're just not my thing. I like to keep it simple, 1 necklace and ring plus FitBit or a watch.

Ruthietuthie · 10/05/2025 01:20

@bunnybunnybunnybunny, I do know exactly what you mean (despite owning and liking a Alhambra bracelet, which I've had since before everyone else got one).
The Love bracelet, I've never liked. (And feel itchy at the thought of not being able to get it off). And I just don't know about the Juste un Clou bracelet. On the one hand, it is such a clever design, and speaks so much to the sensibilities of when it came out in the 1970s. And, when I first saw someone wearing it, I thought "that's really cool." But now, that it's just a standard part of a standard but expensive stack, replicated on many wrists (and probably paired with a YSL Lou Lou bag, which is just ugly) and it is so overdone. (And I realize this makes me snobbish too, which I really shouldn't be as the pieces I wear everyday are from Tiffany's. But my feeling is - like many of the bracelets and bangles on this thread - I will, I hope, always like them).
