Comfortable sandals

This summer I’m off on a holiday where I anticipate there will be a lot of walking. Can anyone recommend some comfortable (but still relatively stylish) footwear?

I like leather and must have a strap around the ankle/back of foot.

I spent a bit on a really nice pair of Timberland moulded sandals last summer, but after one wear at the weekend, they’re rubbing.

What are your most comfy sandals?

I've got a pair of Ecco ones which are very comfy. Not very stylish, though.
They are on their 4th summer so although a bit expensive, worth it.

I love my Saltwaters. Had them for years, worn them to death on beaches / rivers / round town and they’re still going strong and still look good. I was sceptical about how comfortable they’d be but because they fit so well they’re great.

Mahabis dreamer sandals! Soo comfy and I have awful feet!

I second this! I’ve got them in the black and off white SO comfortable I’ve never had a sandal like it

Moshulu, have a good range, highly recommend

FRASERS have branded sandals reduced online. Ordered some Karrimor walking sandals for my daughter. Lovely cushioned foot bed.
They have Sketchers too.
Hotter are also comfortable.

Adjustable Lulu sandals from FitFlop. Walked 10+ miles a day in them. The most comfortable shoes I think I have ever owned.

LightOfAThousandStars · 01/05/2025 12:34

Another vote for Fit Flop, I have the two pairs of the Gracie ones suggested above.

I just got these Ecco ones and they are fabulously comfortable. They arrived yesterday and I immediately went for a long walk in them. Heavenly.

Another vote for the Clarks shoes! I got them last year and I wear them to work on my feet all day and they are perfect!

Echlefecker · 03/05/2025 18:14

I've always worn Merrell walking sandals . They are so comfortable and grippy but they do look a bit heavy with dresses. This year I bought some fitflop Gracie fisherman sandals and I've just had a week's holiday with lots of sight seeing and walking and they felt great. I was pleased with them and they looked great on a night with my dresses too

MaddestGranny · 03/05/2025 18:18

I'll go with Clarkes. But, also, Hotter.

Magpiecomplex · 03/05/2025 18:19

Hotter Tourist. Very comfortable and different width fittings.

Tallisker · 03/05/2025 18:25

Oh an automatic hide from MNHQ. They are Trespass Kimber sandals.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 03/05/2025 18:41

I just bought Merrell Harbor back strap and I was really surprised how flimsy and lightweight they are these days. Leather straps but the bottom is made of microfibre and foam and seems really insubstantial. I might return them.

Teva sandals, any that are suitable for hiking are great. I buy a new pair every year, but my old ones are still going strong!

I love these, but they also have leather options: www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/women-sandals/terra-fi-5-universal/1099443.html?dwvar_1099443_color=IGU

Shudacudawuda · 03/05/2025 18:44

I had TEVA's for our Thailand trip last year, loads of walking and very hot. They were wonderfully light and comfortable.
They do look like walking sandals but you can get strappy styles that I think still look nice with dresses/skirts. They're all i wore.

Iheartmysmart · 03/05/2025 18:50

That is really weird @Tallisker I recommended those sandals on another thread and my reply was also hidden and never shown. Anyway I second the Trespass Kimbra recommendation.

YouRemindMe0fTheBabe · 03/05/2025 18:53

I wear Teva original universal when I am doing a lot of walking. The slim leather version is lovely.

OceanSounds123 · 03/05/2025 18:54

My most comfortable sandals by far are my Saltwater Broadwalk ones.I can walk for miles with them, plus no blisters!

Nothungrycat · 03/05/2025 18:54

Another TEVA fan here - I've got the Flatform ones, which are incredibly comfortable and are just about respectable enough for cities. Not leather, but that means they cope with water a lot better. I've even worn mine swimming when it was rocky underfoot and they were fine. https://www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/women-sandals/midform-universal/1090969.html?dwvar_1090969_color=BLK
