Comfortable sandals

This summer I’m off on a holiday where I anticipate there will be a lot of walking. Can anyone recommend some comfortable (but still relatively stylish) footwear?

I like leather and must have a strap around the ankle/back of foot.

I spent a bit on a really nice pair of Timberland moulded sandals last summer, but after one wear at the weekend, they’re rubbing.

What are your most comfy sandals?

@Thankgoditsbedtyme These. Wore them years ago. Not for summer, though.

I like the timberland ones. Are they heavy?

OneNeatLimeCritic · 03/05/2025 23:20

Saltwater. I have tricky, sensitive feet, prone to rubbing and these sandals are the best things I have ever bought. They are leather and come in a thicker or thinner sole. I've had both and the thicker sole does give more comfort, although both feel beautiful to wear.

Agree, the Dr Martin sandals are so comfortable but also supportive. I’ve had mine 2 years and they somehow still look brand new so they also wear very well.

Crocs. I’ve done a lot of walking in them and they’re so comfortable. Get a couple in different colours.

Is one wear enough?I find you often need a few wears to make shoes comfortable?

People who like the Clark’s ones, what kind of feet do you have? Mine are pretty narrow, Tevas looked like boats on me. I have the Ecco, which are great as they are adjustable, and very comfy, but they really smell after a while, I have to keep washing them.

I've also got narrow feet. Tevas were so uncomfortable - too wide and the metal strap connector dug right into my ankle. I'd bought 2 pairs and they both went straight to the charity shop.

I don't buy any sandals now unless they're adjustable over the foot - too much sliding about. Clarks generally fit me well, moshulus are far too wide

What a great thread.....on the back of which I have just ordered a pair of Seawater Swimmer sandals and two pairs of Trespass Kimbras! Thank you OP, hope you find some nice sandals for your holiday too

Letshavetea1 · 04/05/2025 05:22

Geox Spherica sandals. The comfiest I’ve ever had. Stylish too! Tevas for all terrain walking.

Copperfield27 · 04/05/2025 06:39

Vionic - designed by podiatrist fed up with how shoes seemed either comfy OR cute. Not the cheapest but excellent value for money.

I bought children’s Tevas and they are very slim.

I wanted some that were fashionable and comfortable enough to wear to walk a mile or two in the Greek heat; I’ve worn Blowfish Malibu sandals before so I ordered these from Schuh which looked good for my feet (which are prone to swelling in the heat).
they fit well, I just need to wear them in before my holiday.

I walked 10 miles in the Greek heat in my Tourist sandals last year. I’ve just seen that they now do a leopard print version- tempted!

TessTimoney · 04/05/2025 10:16

Happy feet wear Sketchers 😁. You can thank me later 👌

I have very narrow feet - Karrimor nice and narrow

Whattodowiththesewindows · 04/05/2025 11:23

@TessTimoney are the mesh straps stretchy ?

Kaybee50 · 04/05/2025 12:32

I’m a massive fan of saltwaters but as I’ve got older the ones with the flat soles aren’t that supportive for long walks - the ones with the thick soles however are incredible! (They are called swimmers or boardwalk) and they look lovely too. I’ve got a few pairs in different colours and I live in them in the summer.

motherofawhirlwind · 04/05/2025 14:45

Hotter! Have got about 8 pairs that I've picked up in sales or at the outlet and they're all amazingly comfy. Never found shoes that are reliably non rubbing before. Also love their boots.

I like Tourist but the foot bed makes my feet sweaty as is the case with most hotter sandals

i wish they still did narrow fittings
