How many pairs of sunglasses do you own?

Last year I bought a fun, oversized green pair from Oliver Bonas. Then DH bought me some metal framed ones from Ray Ban. This year I’ve bought some purple/tortoiseshell ones from Vision Express & I’m getting another green pair from Oliver Bonas for my birthday.

Saw another pair I liked today & DH commented that I already had too many (he doesn’t even know about the birthday ones!). I want aaaallll the sunglasses. Different sizes, colours, shapes.

Tell me I’m not alone!

10-12
different colour , different shapes. IMO,ok to have lots that you can wear depending on mood and attire

AppleKatie · 12/04/2025 00:14

Three but don’t tell my DH he’s been giving me grief this week for having the audacity to have two pairs.

(He’s usually a good egg obviously but on this issue he has a block…)

abbey44 · 12/04/2025 00:15

8 or 9 (maybe more - I haven’t counted up) in different styles, colours and shapes. Which is ridiculous as there’s only one pair I go to and actually use.

CookingFatCat · 12/04/2025 00:15

About six, they’ll all £10-20 bought over the years.
I now prefer curved oversized not because of how they look but they give better protection.

AliceMcK · 12/04/2025 00:19

One, bifocal prescription so I can’t just go and buy loads. I would definitely like a second pair though.

Eminybob · 12/04/2025 00:45

4 including a prescription pair (although I usually wear contact lenses)
My favourite are my oversize Jimmy Choos which I love but are quite a look. Currently enjoying some pink framed ones which were about 3 quid to make up free shipping costs from somewhere I cant remember.

Same! They are Dior though 😎

I buy a pair of sunglasses every few summers. I leave them in the car as that’s where I use hem the most. However I now wear varifocals so now have 1 pair of prescription glasses that will last me 2 years

Bbq1 · 12/04/2025 00:52

About 8 including a v expensive pair but I wear cheap ones (with protection) as I'm scared of losing the pricey ones as I lose sunglasses constantly.

TennesseeStella · 12/04/2025 00:53

Um, one. You know, to wear on my one pair of eyes!

OnYourSide · 12/04/2025 01:01

I have 12 pairs, some cheap, some expensive.

CheeseWisely · 12/04/2025 01:03

One, but I’ve decided I don’t like them anymore so am stealing DH’s raybans at any opportunity. Must find time to buy a new pair for myself.

RosesAndHellebores · 12/04/2025 01:06

Like a pp, one, due to a complex prescription and needing varifocals. I got them half price last time I had new glasses. Gucci.

LobeliaBaggins · 12/04/2025 03:18

2

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 12/04/2025 06:16

2 pairs of polarised Ray Bans, won't buy cheap or fakes. Don't see the point as I can only wear one pair at a time.

TheBang · 12/04/2025 06:32

Six.
But only one is ‘right’, they were £4 years ago and I’ve been on a quest to find another pair that are as comfortable ever since.

I keep one pair in my bedroom to put on when I go on the balcony, one pair in my car, one pair in dp’s car and the other three are the ones I mostly wear out and about.

Highlighta · 12/04/2025 06:38

One.

One pair of Raybans which stay in the car.

I really struggle to find glasses that suit me, as I have a ridiculously small face.

And I live in a sunny country so they are well worn.

Same here.
Although mine are magnetic and attach to my varifocal glasses. They are a game changer.

I do have a pair of old prescription sunglasses that I wear to swim in on holiday.

I can't afford to treat glasses as a fashion accessory as my lenses are over £300 alone, so I just have one pair.

And no, I'm not going to Asda to get cheap glasses because with my complex prescription it really makes a difference to get better quality lenses.

dudsville · 12/04/2025 06:43

Ooooh, this is something I've always envied. I have to have prescription specs, but there are so many nice sunglasses out there that I often think I'll just get them anyway!

WhiskyandWater · 12/04/2025 06:58

I have about 15-20 pairs. I get migraines so keep a pair in every bag, in the car etc so if the sun hits the migraine level I have them to hand. Love them and buy at least one pair a year.

Chickydoo · 12/04/2025 07:07

2, one Ray Ban, One Oakley. (I also have a pair of reading glasses that are sun glasses, never wear them thought).
I only ever have 2 pairs on the go at any time. Although this is my 3rd pair of Oakleys in 2 years as DH lost one pair & I broke another.

chineapplepunks · 12/04/2025 07:10

Only one because I need strong prescription ones and they’re expensive. But before I had bad eyes I would easily have 10ish pairs in different styles!

Trumpsgoneloco · 12/04/2025 07:11

Double figures, they are a bit like shoes to me. Different clothes & activities need different sunglasses.

Trumpsgoneloco · 12/04/2025 07:12

I tend to buy a new pair each summer

Motherknowsrest · 12/04/2025 07:14

I was pondering this the other day, I have more than I realise;

Lightweight pair for running
Primark pair for spare
Nicer, big M&S pair for smart / casual
Proper Polaroid sunglasses for driving
Hideously expensive prescription sunnies for driving if I'm not in contacts.
