The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

She's always dressed extremely formally and beyond her years. Until the last few years.

gingercat02 · 22/05/2025 10:29

Stonker! The gold dress was NOT a stinker.

Has Kate been wearing coat dresses? I thought we'd seen the last of them. Recently I've only seen her in dresses or a trouser suit.

I don't recall any coat dresses for a good long while.

If it helps I read that as stonker. I think my brain filled in the only word that fit.

It really was a stonker of a dress, and she looked magnificent in it.

SqueakyDinosaur · 22/05/2025 11:54

She really, really did. Much better than some of the more girly ones she's worn - she actually suits more dramatic eveningwear (e.g. the gold dress and the white one-shouldered one with the long black gloves).

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 22/05/2025 12:00

I'm hoping she'll attend the State Dinner that's due sometime soon. And wouldn't it be wonderful if a new tiara was brought out for the occasion?

Yes, good points everyone has made about Kate’s outfits. I’m not a fan of coat dresses but can see why she is digging them out to rewear.

I don't think she wore a coat dress - just a dress

Kate in Glasgow today launching a warship in navy blue and white

Very nautical!

Serenster · 22/05/2025 15:54

I love that - the sharp contrast bands really make it (you can’t see them in the pictures, but there are white bands along the back of her arms and around her waist. It’s perfect with the hat.

Eaumyword · 22/05/2025 16:07

Very smart! She does suit hats amazingly well too.

Maireas · 22/05/2025 16:40

Very chic! It's a departure for her, but it's a really stylish look.

I love that outfit on Kate. Very chic indeed.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 22/05/2025 17:24

I dont know, it has a hint of cabin crew.

justasking111 · 22/05/2025 17:25

Reminds me of the dresses Diana used to wear

I thought it was Diana, I think because of the hat hiding Kates face. Oh to be tall and slim!

She really does suit hats! The one at the garden party was also lovely.

Papergirl1968 · 22/05/2025 21:11

Couple more pics of Kate today.

Papergirl1968 · 22/05/2025 21:19

Sorry, yes, the butter yellow Emilia Wickstead dress for the garden party wasn’t a coat dress but today’s navy one by Suzannah London (£1,850) IS described as a coat dress.
Both hats were by Philip Treacy and today’s was previously worn at Trooping the Colour in 2024.

Lunde · 22/05/2025 21:20

Does anyone know which brooch Kate was wearing today?

Choux · 22/05/2025 21:50

Kate's brooch is new and was specially made by James Porter & Son, established in 1858, who are based in Glasgow's historic Argyll Arcade and are one of Scotland's oldest jewellers.
Simon Porter said they had been asked to design a brooch based on HMS Glasgow's crest.
"It was an absolute honour to see her wearing it," he said.
"Against a plain navy background it really stood out."
The brooch was funded by two London livery companies, the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers and the Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors.

looks like the hat was a rewear from 2022 Trooping.

RomainingCalm · 22/05/2025 21:54

That is a properly elegant outfit on Kate - I love navy and white and think she looks amazing.

Edited as there was a much better answer above about the brooch!

Maireas · 22/05/2025 21:56

Thanks for the brooch information, @Choux .
That Trooping outfit is lovely, I like the navy and white and she often wears that suite of sapphires.

OP posts:
Choux · 22/05/2025 22:18

Trooping 2022 was the first time she had been seen in public in those earrings which were previously worn by Diana. She wore them the following year at Trooping as well with a green outfit.

She has frequently worn similar earrings that only have one sapphire encircled by diamonds instead of two.
