The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

Yeah, I think Edward and Sophie are standing further back 😂

Lunde · 20/05/2025 21:03

Is Kate re-wearing an outfit from the Jubilee?

Is Kate re-wearing an outfit from the Jubilee?

I've definitely seen that before.

I think it's one of those dresses she has in a few colours. Emilia Wickstead? Bit of a snooze but appropriate for the garden party.

Eaumyword · 20/05/2025 22:22

That shade of yellow is lovely on Kate. She looks very elegant. Sophie looks nice too.

Papergirl1968 · 20/05/2025 22:33

Yes, Kate’s dress is Emila Wickstead, previously worn at the jubilee thanksgiving service.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 20/05/2025 22:39

Also worn at a garden party in 2022.

I love today's hat, which I think is a reworking of a previous one (or at least the flower arrangement has been reused).

I think Catherine looks lovely in this muted yellow.

Eugenie looked fab today and I like Sophie in pink.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 20/05/2025 22:48

Yes, I saw a photo of Eugenie and she finally listened to those of you who've said for years that she should try a v-neck!

Camilla and Charles at Canada House and at the Chelsea Flower Show. And William, Catherine, Sophie and Zara at at Buck House garden party.

It looks like Edwards head has shrunk!

My favorite colour on Catherine. Beautiful.

CodandChipz · 21/05/2025 09:52

Strong 80s vibes (in a good way) from E.

Zara looks great too. Pretty in pink.

Papergirl1968 · 21/05/2025 10:25

Kate’s outfut is my least favourite. To me it looks over formal and ageing compared to the summer dresses the others are wearing. Nice colour though.
I’m in awe of their ability to walk in high heels on grass!

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 21/05/2025 10:35

They're probably using those little plastic heel protectors/stabilisers.

eggandonion · 21/05/2025 10:50

I wonder if Zara and the Yorks are sent a list of events they can attend and tick off what they will be at? Or are they asked specifically?
The slimming down of the royals doesn't seem to have gone according to plan, but the wider family seem to be pulling together really well.

I agree, I would love to see Catherine take a leaf out of Mary and Laetizia book and shake it up a bit, (or Charlene, but she is spending megabucks and that would be the wrong image for Catherine) she used to have great style and now it is so much the same outfit on repeat and often very dated. Catherine is so beautiful and elegant she really could wear pretty much any outfit, and I realise she does not want to be seen as a clothes horse, but we are all still talking and commenting on it, so its kind of a moot point at the end of the day.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 21/05/2025 11:59

Catherine has pushed the boat out sartorially many times over the past 5-6 years or so, but I have noticed that she's retreated back into the formal wear this past year or so. My guess is it's probably a bit of a comfort blanket for her and helps with a sense of detachment/feeling like she has on an armour or mask during public appearances. I can't even imagine how vulnerable she must have felt and probably still feels.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 21/05/2025 12:00

And of course she's mostly appeared at very formal occasions so that will be part of it too.

deeahgwitch · 21/05/2025 13:23

Zara looks great.
The v neck suits Eugenie, she looks well.

Eaumyword · 21/05/2025 14:49

Ooh yes, Za is looking fab.

Choux · 21/05/2025 19:17

Kate choosing a rewear is easy for her. She goes to wherever they are stored - I am imagining a few rooms at Windsor Castle so close to home - with her dresser and tries on the old Jubilee, Trooping, Wimbledon, Garden party outfits and earmarks a few for upcoming events. Then the dresser selects a few shoe, bag, jewellery, hat options for each outfit and they go through them and make final decisions. Two mornings could get half a dozen outfits picked.

If she decided to get six new outfits made there would be meetings with two or three designers to discuss ideas around colours and styles, meetings to discuss fabric choices, fittings, as well as sorting out the shoes, hats, bags etc. She would have to meet more people, spend more time, and give it more thought. Rewears are easy in comparison and give her more time to relax / be with the kids etc.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 21/05/2025 20:07

Yes I expect she may have been too tired to do her annual (or seasonal) appointments for new wardrobe pieces.

She wore her wedding earrings at the garden party, and the hat was a rewear from Harry and Meghan's wedding. I knew I had seen it before.

RomainingCalm · 21/05/2025 21:43

I agree with that @Choux. I think right now Kate just wants to wear things that are easy and won’t invite a lot of comment/press. It feels as if there is a conscious effort to rewear clothing and maybe cut out the hassle of making decisions, fittings and tailoring.

I’d have loved to see her in a floral, summer dress but her outfit was rather more formal and ‘Future Queen’.

Papergirl1968 · 21/05/2025 22:04

Yes, good points everyone has made about Kate’s outfits. I’m not a fan of coat dresses but can see why she is digging them out to rewear.

Maireas · 22/05/2025 07:31

Has Kate been wearing coat dresses? I thought we'd seen the last of them. Recently I've only seen her in dresses or a trouser suit.

gingercat02 · 22/05/2025 07:41

Do people not think the more serious dressing is because she is PoW now? She hadn't had the title long before she was ill. Perhaps a change of style was always intended now she is next in line to be Queen.
Camilla looks nice and appropriate at all times and perhaps that is the court style now (pure speculation obviously)
I have never really thought of Kate as a fashionable dresser she seems to dress for the occasion or in casual outfits she likes wearing. She fies have a stinker now and again, like the Bond dress and some lovely day dresses.
