The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

And then Felipe said "hold my cerveza"...

Such a handsome man. My ultimate crush

Mine too, @derxa! 😍☺️

How can father and son be so different. I remember he visited a disaster zone and people were pelting him with mud. He didn’t flinch.

Privilege de Blanc. MT looks as if she's in a dressing gown! No mantilla. Charlene and Leti look nice.

Yes it does have the posh spa vibe.

Choux · 18/05/2025 21:44

Privilege de blanc - MT looks too casual with the cut out shirt dress. Looks like she is on holiday. Leti looks lovely in that photo but from other photos her dress is very long, too long in my opinion and she is wearing taupe shoes and I think paler would be better. Mathilde has quite a retro outfit on which is nice but the gloves seem excessive (is it protocol cos the others don’t have them?) and the sunglasses jar a bit (although am sure the Roman sun on the stone of St Peter’s gives off a lot of glare). So Charlene gets my best dressed vote although Leti let victory slip through her fingers.

Choux · 18/05/2025 21:48

Full length shot of Leti

Meanwhile Zara and Mike were at a fundraising gala and Sophie was at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Zara looks nice in the yellow dress but the stilettos are a bit dated. And Sophie's outfit is just weird - looks like she's wearing an apron!

Papergirl1968 · 18/05/2025 22:15

Sophie has a rug/blanket thing wrapped around her waist - ladies often do when carriage driving. For warmth or modesty, or maybe just tradition, not sure? That one does look like an apron though!
I’ve had to Google privilege de blanc - the right granted to certain royal women, presumably Catholics, to wear white in an audience with the pope.

Eaumyword · 18/05/2025 22:24

I think Leti looks fab in her white dress.
Za really, really suits that pastel yellow shade. She's worn that colour before and it looks great on her. She does have good legs!

Yes, that's right. Others, including the late Queen, had to wear black. I remember her turning up to visit the Pope in a splendid black lace outfit avec mantilla, but with a massive tiara. She looked great.

I think it's 7 Royal women who hold the privilege.

Yes @Maireas it was the Vladimir tiara, and I think I may remember seeing the diamond fringe as well? Might be wrong about that.

justasking111 · 18/05/2025 23:27

Sophie is wearing a cornflower above an unusual brooch. I wonder if there's a meaning behind it

Choux · 19/05/2025 07:51

All the people in her carriage are wearing the cornflowers in a photo on this page (which looks like it could have been taken a hundred years ago) so it is likely in support of something. There are also other photos of outfits she wore during the show. Quite casual as it’s a horse show but still managed pale suede boots one day!

Yes I thought GDMT looked too casual. Looked like a sundress. I actually think Mathilde’s outfit is the nicest.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 19/05/2025 16:42

Here's Max. The queen who is Catholic but not a Catholic Queen. She is wearing a skirt with splits, although in this picture it looks a bit like trousers.

The King likes cornflowers & often wears them as a buttonhole/boutonnière.
They're one of his favourite flowers. They represent his interest in the environment & also featured in his Coronation invite.
Cornflowers symbolise hope, anticipation & the return of love.

So I'm presuming Sophie & friends wearing cornflowers was a a nice little way to show their support of Charles.
Tatler thinks so too: www.tatler.com/article/sophie-duchess-of-edinburgh-tribute-to-king-charles-royal-windsor-horse-show

I like the individual pieces Sophie is wearing but I don’t think they go together very well.
Here’s Lady Amelia at the Chelsea Flower Show. I like the look apart from the socks and clumpy shoes, but then I’m old and equally think the fashion of wearing sports socks pulled up high looks ridiculous. And dd1 has today informed me that Adidas is well out of fashion but Nike is in!

Maireas · 19/05/2025 22:02

She looks like Grandma! It's a look with heavy shoes and socks, but I think is better with those DM sandals. I don't really like the black 2 piece, maybe it's the proportions?

Maireas · 19/05/2025 23:01

Her Grandma was always so stylish, I used to love her outfits at Wimbledon.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 19/05/2025 23:05

Amelia really looks like her gran. And like she's borrowed her shoes from her grandad!

I have about 5 pairs of Nike so clearly I'm on trend, according to @Papergirl1968's DD 😆

catherine makes Edward look tiny!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 20/05/2025 19:51

That photo is hilarious 😆Edward is about 6ft tall so I think he's standing a couple of feet behind Kate!
