The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

The Duchess of Gloucester is always understated but very well presented. I love the little bag.

eggandonion · 09/05/2025 21:11

They always seemed to get overshadowed by the Kent family! The Duke seemed to come to notice when he spoke at the King Richard memorial a few years ago.
The Gloucester jewellery is very lavish I think.

Serenster · 09/05/2025 21:47

I’m going to see the Cartier exhibition at the V&A next week - the Duchess of Gloucester’s Indian tiara is in the exhibition. It’s one of my favourites!

eggandonion · 09/05/2025 22:01

Lovely!

SqueakyDinosaur · 09/05/2025 22:06

I'm going on Monday (and probably about another 4 times after that with various friends, as I'm a member with a plus-one card!). Very much looking forward to it - I think I went to the Faberge one at least 3, maybe 4 times and saw more and different things every time.

Eaumyword · 10/05/2025 07:03

Been away for a few days and missed all the lovely fashion and exciting events!
Great to see Kate out and about and I love her look. Not so keen on the white skirt part of her outfit, but she does suit cream/white so much. That cream polka dot dress is one of my favourite looks for her. So elegant.
Mary looks fabulous in that photo, very elegant too.

Ooh I’ve been eyeing that up. Think a day trip to the big smoke is in order 😊

Just seen this on Twitter, skirt is giving me some 80s vibes.

I love this look on Catherine. Something about the contrasts of floaty and structured.

RomainingCalm · 10/05/2025 20:39

Happy 5th Birthday to our lovely thread mascot! 💙. The photos of the Luxembourgs always make me smile.

Not a great outfit on Zara.
Very boxy.

justasking111 · 11/05/2025 21:31

I like the jacket but not with jeans

RomainingCalm · 11/05/2025 21:56

That’s a funny old outfit on Zara. Nice jacket, nice bottom half but don’t quite go together.

Eaumyword · 11/05/2025 22:03

Agree, those jeans look fab on her and the jacket is nice - just not together!

Jacques and Gabriella celebrating their First Holy Communion.
They look so sweet! Jacques is very like his Mum. Those are interesting outfits. Me and my sisters wore white dresses, floral head dresses and veils, our brothers wore white shirts and shorts with blue ties. The unisex look is actually quite good.
Anyway, everyone looks happy and proud and the twins are lovely.

The royal twins wore matching outfits for the special occasion.

Afaik those tunics are used so that the First Holy Communion day doesn’t turn into a competitive fashion show.
The focus is on the Sacrament rather than clothes and appearance.
Though I’m sure specific outfits are bought for after the ceremony. 😀

Maireas · 12/05/2025 08:44

Yes, @deeahgwitch , that makes sense. Especially given how rich the Grimaldis are, it's an equaliser.

Yes Jacques looks like his mum and Gabriella looks like her father!

They are growing up fast. It's always nice when Charlene looks well.

I was thinking of it in an Irish context- it had got out of hand completely with some families borrowing from moneylenders apparently and having to pay back with extortionate interest rates.
Sad

Maireas · 12/05/2025 08:56

Yes, I can imagine. My Mum made all our dresses, I remember how exciting it was going to choose the fabric. I had a beautiful floral head dress and lace gloves, lace socks and white patent leather shoes. I can imagine though it could get competitive and it would be awful for some families.
Good call from the Grimaldis 👍

Char is looking great. Very chic and I like her hair.

Queen Silvia was in New York yesterday to receive the Global Humanitarian Ellis Island Medal of Honor for her work to support vulnerable children. She took Madeleine with her who looks amazing in a black sequinned gown.

Oh Madeline does look amazing.
