The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

It’s two different dresses - the one worn today is white with back dots, and the Ascot dress the dots are bigger and actually chocolate brown. The difference is negligible, obviously!

Yes - she wore today's dress at Garter Day a few years ago

She wore it to Garter Day with a bigger hat. But the one she wore to Ascot had bigger and brown polka dots

I like the polka dot dress, it's very elegant.

Ah @Lunde thanks! I knew I had seen her wear it somewhere before.

Sidebeforeself · 08/05/2025 17:17

I loved Sophie’s hat today although I think I might have been a bit miffed if I was sat behind her!

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 08/05/2025 17:32

@Sidebeforeself I loved it too!

Maireas · 08/05/2025 17:56

Birgitte looks nice, as always.

Loved Camilla’s outfit.
Kate was elegant as always and she and Cams coordinated.
Loved Victoria Starmer’s blue and liked Sam Cam’s green but wasn’t mad about her décolleté.
Sophie Edinburgh’s blue was lovely on her.
I noticed ivory tights are on the way back. Hmmmm
Was Carrie there with Boris ?

BridgetJonesesOwl · 08/05/2025 19:22

Those 1930/40's style of dresses really do suit Kate.

I'm wondering if the blanket stitch effect on Camilla's outfit is a nod to the army blankets of old?
The ones that our Mums/Grandmas/Great Grans kept in the cupboard for years after their sons & husbands came home from WW2.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 08/05/2025 19:26

Kate looks great and has the perfect figure for that close-fitting 40s silhouette. I love a veiled saucer hat too, it's so chic. Camilla looks good too but Sophie's dress is a tad fussy and I don't like her hat. Princess Anne is Princess Anne and Birgitte is as elegant as ever.

Didn't like Lady S's dress at all - bit boring and unflattering. I thought Sam Cam looked good- great colour and she was hardly falling out of her dress!

I think Boris came on his own? I wish just for this once he had brushed his hair!

Has Boris been on the Ozempic? His suits looks like it’s swimming on him!

bizzey · 08/05/2025 19:59

That's quite a thigh split !

Quite possibly. Here he is in May 2023 at the Coronation.

I was too busy wondering if Carrie’s absence meant trouble in paradise or that Boris was on his way to his ninth child to notice the eternally scruffy one seemed slimmer.

Now the press will say that Ingrid Alexandra is wearing her mother’s dress but is she? The ruffles seem to hang very differently and there seems to be an extra layer across the bust which is level with the end of the sleeve. I say it’s a remake and not the exact same dress.

He did try it but the side effects were too debilitating he said. Spent hours in the loo 😁

Just seen this on Twitter, skirt is giving me some 80s vibes.

Didn't someone royal wear something similar but in black when the queen was lying in state? Beatrice or Eugenie perhaps.

Yes, It’s a Self Portrait dress - another re-wear. Beatrice also has it in black and has worn it a few times, including when she and her cousins stood vigil around QEII’s coffin (that’s not the picture below, obviously 😀)

Thank you @Serenster . I prefer the black.
