The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

Sorry for the messy link. It didn't look like that in the preview!

@themessygarden - Kate’s bag is from Demellier.

Thank you, I love it, so neat and classic.

Harassedevictee · 08/05/2025 12:46

Sorry no links as I’m watching live.

its not even that expensive, they have it in a cross body which I think I will order.

Harassedevictee · 08/05/2025 13:15

Just watching Catherine walk across the cobbles, how does anyone do that in high heels? Truly admire anyone who can do that.

Lunde · 08/05/2025 13:23

I loved Queen Camilla's hat - really beautiful. Not so sure I liked the blanket stitch on the coat around the neck.

Although a rewear - I thought Kate pulled off a great 40's vibe in the polka dots.

Didn't really like Sophy's dress and hat as I thought it aged her whereas Princess Anne looked great (probably had the outfit in her wardrobe for 50 years)

It’s so cold today I’m impressed by the PoW just wearing a dress, not a coat.

Sidebeforeself · 08/05/2025 13:36

Ive noticed Kate has done pretty much 100% re-wears since her return to work. I know her team said she didnt want the narrative to be about her clothes so maybe thats part of it. Let’s face it..theres plenty for her to choose from! But I wouldnt mind one or two new pieces esp evening wear please Kate!

I was thinking too. It was a great choice given the reason for the service - very 1940s style without looking like a period piece.

I wish PoW would mix hats up with a few wide brimmed ones…she has worn them and they look great. I wish I could wear them but I’m short and would look like a mushroom.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 08/05/2025 14:13

Catherine does look fantastic in a wide brimmed hat but I'm actually very happy she didn't wear one today as she's worn one a couple of times with this dress (or a very similar one, can't remember for sure - certainly the same general style) so she actually is mixing it up by choosing a smaller hat this time.

justasking111 · 08/05/2025 14:35

I think I fell in love with Catherine dress at the races years ago because I then ordered one for myself.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 08/05/2025 14:36

Fred and Mary were out and about yesterday, firstly with the traditional start to the sailing season on the Royal Yacht (of which I can't find any good photos at all!), and secondly a dinner at Rosenborg Castle for UN people or something (can't remember specifics, I'm so ill just now and can't face looking up the details 😞 😞).

In other news, Daisy has been admitted to hospital. It's apparently just a precaution as she's suffering with a cold.

justasking111 · 08/05/2025 14:47

OH Daisy get well soon.

This is the dress and hat you are thinking of, I think - worn at Ascot.

That's the one. Has been reworked very well.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 08/05/2025 14:53

Yes @Serenster that's the one! And she's worn another similar dress as well, I thin, which may have been navy with white polkadots. May have been at the late Duke of Edinburgh's memorial service, actually.

Serenster · 08/05/2025 14:59

justasking111 · 08/05/2025 14:51

It’s two different dresses - the one worn today is white with back dots, and the Ascot dress the dots are bigger and actually chocolate brown. The difference is negligible, obviously!

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 08/05/2025 14:59

The brim on the Ascot hat isn't actually that wide...I might be thinking of the one she wore with the lovely white and navy dress with the reverse lining. When was that? Something around QEII's jubilee maybe, or possibly the Commonwealth service from around then. Who knows. 🤔

Yes two different dresses but very likely still one of the ones I was thinking of. It's hard to keep track of all the vaguely similar outfits!

Serenster · 08/05/2025 15:04

Here’s the two events/dresses being mentioned - black with white polka dots for Phillip’s memorial, and an Erdem blue with white sprigs suit for Commonwealth Day. Both with wide-brimmed hats. Two great looks, I think.

(Kate clearly went though a phase of loving Alessandra Rich’s polka dots dresses)

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 08/05/2025 15:06

Thank you @Serenster! I agree they're both lovely outfits and it's definitely the former I was thinking of with the wide brim hat. Such a very classic look.

nahthatsnotforme · 08/05/2025 15:30

Samantha Cameron stole the show for me

Serenster · 08/05/2025 15:48

I understand why she does it, but it annoys me a bit when she accompanies David to important state events like this while wearing her own clothing label…
