Wedding guest - farm rio

Hi all! Can I wear this to a summer wedding? I’m early 40s, short but never wear heals (flatforms are ok), a chubby size 12. I’m also close family and a witness. I REALLY struggle with this kind of thing - formal clothes just never seem to work for me. Any other suggestions?!
Also, what are Farm Rio like from a quality perspective?

Is it a beech wedding? It's looks more like a holiday dress rather than an occasion dress. Is the wedding quite formal or laid back?

Farm Rio (the two dresses i have) are supere quality.

That dress could work wonderfully depending on your colouring, i think if you’re dark skinned it would be stunning. It’s very standout

It's a fabulous dress and the model looks stunning in it. However, you say you're chubby so the puffy sleeves might make you look bigger than you are. I'd also avoid something that bright if you're fair skinned.

I think it’s lovely - went to look at the website and it’s glorious. I share a prev poster’s anxiety about puffed sleeves, but that’s for me, and if you like them, go for it! (And I can’t quite square the idea of chubby size 12 - that’s lovely and slender in my mind!)

It’s a fairly chilled country, rustic wedding. I think it’s assumed I might wear something a bit ‘out there’…! I’m white and (bleach) blonde but tan well. I’m sort of into the puff sleeve thing - I’m not sure if they’re technically flattering on me but I like them and a square neckline tends to suit (or at least I like it!) I’m not very photogenic so I feel like at least if I’m loving what I’m wearing I’ll be less critical of myself?!? I’ll check out rixo as well!

@Talipesmum I think it’s because I’m short so I feel like a 12 on me maybe looks bigger than on others?
I like that they’re a loose puffy sleeve - I really won’t want to have my upper arms out and I think would end at a flattering point.

I'm sort of bulky at the top - only average-sized boobs, but large rib cage and squarish shoulders. Contrary to S&B wisdom, a broad neckline and giant sleeves flatter my shape. I think it's often much better to lean into your natural build than try to 'minimise' yourself to some standardised formula.

Depending on your preferences, you could consider something like these bubblegum Pumas , these very pink Mary Janes or a pair of cream sandals.

I like the bright green bag they've styled it with.

I love the concept of Farm Rio but it’s never been flattering on me as a 5’1 size 10/12. I think it’s a great brand for tall people. Plus I do think it can be a little too “beach”.

It's a beautiful dress, only know if it will suit the occasion though. I would deffo wear it on holiday, or ona beautiful day here in the UK. I don't think I have the skill to make it wedding worthy though. It's a great price.

Accessories wise you can go for a wide range of colours either the oranges reds freen or "natural" shades.

Wedge Espadrilles mighy look good in terms of shoes...also practical for a wedding

I think that dress is fabulous and totally wedding worthy.

that said, if you are likely to be in lots of photos I would check to find out more about the style of the wedding, the colours etc.
not so you match,
but so you tone in.

if she’d having big tropical flowers and brides maids in rich colours then this dress would be wonderful.
if she’s all muted fawns and sage greens etc you might feel quite conspicuous.

that’s my approach to all weddings, i use the invite material- colours graphics font location etc- to get a sense of what the wedding will be like and then choose something I think will make me look great and harmonious to the brides wishes

This is so true, and so well expressed, it bears repeating.

Far too much of S&B is obsessed with encouraging women to disguise themselves as the tiniest thing imaginable, in the hope of not being seen at all.

I think a small, structured, straw handbag would be rather cute. But espadrilles would be vile. Choose a plain Mary Jane shoe in whatever colour appeals to you.

I am considering wearing Farm Rio to my daughter's wedding in the summer, after a MNer suggested it. They seem to have lovely stuff. I wouldn't go for this one myself as puff sleeves don't look right with my big boobs, but I love the colours!

I’ve bought it! it maybe is a bit bright for the vibe of the wedding but I’m fine with that. Bride and groom certainly won’t mind anyway.

@BlossomBlossomBlossom I have a hard wicker shoulder bag that might work, though it’s light brown so might be a bit dark. I’m liking the idea of a structured straw bag though so maybe I’ll definitely need one of those instead 😂

I love Farm Rio, and lust over many of the current dresses—that one is gorgeous OP. The quality is excellent too.

It's beachwear, but eaches own. I think it's very look at me colour wise too, not good for the photos
