My engagement ring arrived this morning and I'm so in love with it, can I see yours?

Success!
My engagement ring is 60 years old and cost £32. It is my most treasured possession cos when I look at it I feel sweet 17 again!

Oh this is beautiful, the rings AND the sentiment ❤️

I know it's each to his own but my DIL and son have signet rings inscribed with their initials. She hardly ever wore her lovely 3 square stone diamond engagement ring which cost a fortune and hardly ever wears the signet. She's not changed her name, makes me wonder if she really wants to be married.

I love your rings @Stumpie111!

Not my engagement ring, but I have an Edwardian opal ring which I don't wear very often. Question for those that have opals they wear all the time - how do you clean them?

Please excuse the awful hands - I'd just come in from running in the cold pissing down rain.

That’s utterly gorgeous @namechange222222222.

I put the tiniest dab of baby shampoo into a bowl of warm water, mix it and then clean the ring with a very soft toothbrush and the opal with a microfibre cloth. I make sure I only touch the opal very lightly. And then I dry it immediately. I have to say I take it off a lot more than I did my sapphire, so I’ll remove it for anything that involves water and I don’t sleep in it. But it’s a bit too loose anyway so that’s probably a good thing! It is more of a pain but for me it’s worth it because I love opals.

Thank you @peachgreen. I'll give that a try - I don't wear it much, in part because I'm nervous about it

Platinum bands with diamonds. I designed the engagement ring and we had it made bespoke. I have no idea of spec of diamond as I left the room while my husband chose the stone. It is a round diamond but the setting makes it look square. I do know the engagement ring cost significantly more than my wedding band. I sometimes wish I had gone for a chunkier wedding band but love it anyway. The three diaminds represent past, present and future.

Here's mine. (Old pic). I sadly had to have my engagement ring cut off due to swelling after an injury. It's never been the same as it's a tile setting so the pressure which holds the diamonds together has been compromised so even if it's repaired, the diamonds fall out. Got a new one from insurance which is lovely but not the same.

French, 1890's, platinum band with hearts in the basket, just over 2ct

That's a stunner.

@Stumpie111 beautiful rings and such a lovely story.

I wish I hadn't clicked this link. I'm so sad today break ups are so hard and everyone is so happy and in love and it just reminds me that I I'm not. I'm divorced and ended a relationship today with a narcissistic man with a hidden coke addiction til recently I really hope I find a good man in the future like everyone else seems to x

I’ve had two husbands, the first abusive, the second well high on the narcissist spectrum. Made my life a misery and trying to escape was like trying to get out of quicksand . I’m happy now but only because I’m on my own. I’m sorry you are sad but at least you are out of an unhappy relationship and there could be a better one waiting for you…just remember to watch for red flags because we do tend to fall for the same type again…Onwards and upwards

gatheryerosebuds · 28/02/2025 12:25

I'd love to see the ring where the PP says it reminds her of being 17. Such a lovely sentiment!
Does anyone know which page it might be on approximately?

Blingismything · 28/02/2025 14:58

My Tiffany Etoile, eternity band and Old European cut solitaire. I have a few rings I have bought/been bought over the years.

littlemissprosseco · 28/02/2025 16:35

@gatheryerosebuds it was at 19.48 by @Stumpie111 on page 22
and I agree, a lovely sentiment, beautiful rings too.

Mine is the yellow gold one with my mum's awesome white gold and diamond next to it. She hasn't worn it for decades - I assume because its not very practical (it catches on everything) but I've never seen another like it. She chose it herself in 1970. When my DH first saw it he asked if my Dad had been worried about my mum's safety as it looked like he'd given her a weapon the way it sticks out he said you could take someone's eye out with that lol.

Wow! All of them are stunning but yes that tall
ring does look a bit dangerous!
