My engagement ring arrived this morning and I'm so in love with it, can I see yours?

But do think about this in advance or you'll end up never wearing the two together

You say that like it's a bad thing!

I like having my rings on different hands and I would have done so even if they did fit nicely together (they fit ok but not perfectly) - I feel like both rings shine (no pun intended) better separately

My engagement ring and wedding ring look very unfashionable now as yellow gold and 1970s style , one of the sapphires fell out and when it was repaired the diamond looked even smaller but I love my rings .

These are some of my favourite on the thread. I absolutely adore this look!

So many wedding rings worn above the engagement ring. Why?

You're supposed to wear your wedding ring at the base of your finger, as it's closest to your heart line!

Stop it - it's all wrong! 😆

I wear mine in whatever order I happen to pick them up. There are no rules.

LuckyLois · 24/02/2025 09:36

Gorgeous thread! (Mostly.) I love seeing all the different rings and hearing the stories behind them.
Mine's an asscher cut diamond. A simple setting but a quite unusual cut, with a bespoke wedding band to fit.

They are lovely and vintage! I bought a ring like your engagement ring (though in white gold) just for the 1970s look of it.

NCNinja · 24/02/2025 12:15

Lovely seeing everyone's beautiful rings. Here is mine, I'm still obsessed.

Blue topaz with tiny diamonds. Cannot get them off to clean. Three stones and 32 years later....Still love them though.

No way! I’ve never seen my ring on anyone else ever. Thirty-three years for me.

Me neither! We got mine in a jewellers in Yeovil. I had waited for nine years so it was a sweet moment :). Finally wore DH down by showing him a wedding package in St Lucia with watersports and alcohol included. And no-one looking at the back of his head :).

We got mine in a jewellers in Andover. I walked past it every day on my way to work and I was terrified they would sell it before we got engaged 😂. I’d post a picture but I don’t know how.

Not a bad thing at all, but it is the norm to wear the engagement ring on top of the wedding ring, so if that's what you want then you need to factor that in when you choose. Completely accept that it might not bother lots of people either way.

Tarkan · 24/02/2025 12:44

It's gorgeous @Trumpton and with such deep meaning behind it too.

ShanghaiDiva · 24/02/2025 12:50

These are my mum’s, Victorian style.

Your ring is stunning @namechange222222222
The best on the thread.
I can't believe it's an M colour.
I've seen H coloured diamonds that were much yellower.

Such a variety of rings on this thread. Some I don't like at all but we all have different tastes which makes life interesting.

Thank you @deeahgwitch.

I think that's because old cut diamonds tend to show colour differently because the facets are chunkier as they were cut by hand. You can get them in higher colours, but they're few and far between as at some point most of them got recut into modern diamonds.

There are some beautiful and very unique rings on this thread!

@MrsMiniver1942 - that’s lovely.

I wish I knew a reputable jeweller- I haven’t had much luck so far and I do need a couple of things repairing, (but am now too scared to go anywhere!)

Have you gone to the Jewellery Quarter in Bham?

itsjustthewayitwas · 24/02/2025 13:33

I went to the jewellery quarter not long ago and found it hugely disappointing. Lots of shops selling generic rings which weren’t anything great. I think a shop selling vintage rings would be far more interesting.

itsjustthewayitwas · 24/02/2025 13:34

A family member is a jeweller and does repairs if anyone is interested!

DiabeticChocolateLover · 24/02/2025 14:06

I know it's each to his own but my DIL and son have signet rings inscribed with their initials. She hardly ever wore her lovely 3 square stone diamond engagement ring which cost a fortune and hardly ever wears the signet. She's not changed her name, makes me wonder if she really wants to be married.

DutifulDaughterWifeMother · 24/02/2025 14:08

Thank you OP for this thread!

It’s been lovely reading all the stories and seeing everyone’s pictures of their rings.

Here are mine…..The wedding band is all that I had when I got married and all the other rings are what my husband has brought me over the 30 years we have been married. We had nothing when we got married and even today I am still mesmerised by the rings that I have. I never wear them at home only when I go out.

Leave her alone! You don’t need to change your name or wear a ring to show how much you want to be married to someone.

newlife25 · 24/02/2025 14:53

I'm divorced. I wear what was my Wedding Ring on my right hand as it was made from my own gold and diamonds before it was made into this, therefore it holds no sentimentality to me. On the top I wear a ring I had made out of my late Dad's signet rings and a London Blue Topaz stone which I chose. I get loads of compliments about them. Sold my engagement ring for scrap gold!

@janeavrilavril @Lemon111 @Superleo837

It's a peach coloured sapphire. Very unusual but very pretty!
