Or neither?

I'm 56 and really want a Rocket St George bomber jacket. Mutton dressed up as mutton?

I look at some of my friends in their 50s/60s who wear Toast and Cos and they look super-stylish and classy but that's just not me. Does it look a bit try-hard to wear stuff that's a bit out there?

I don't know what's made me ask really - I usually don't care but maybe it's bc I've changed jobs recently and am meeting a lot of new people. Im thinking what their first impression of me might be.

OP try watching Friday Night Fashion on YouTube. It’s a video cast by Amanda Wakeley and Jo Elvin, both 50+ discussing fashion and trends.t

What I notice when I go to town is that almost everyone is wearing a variation of a black quilted jacket or coat. Almost everyone, regardless of age or gender. It is almost like a uniform, I was a bit bored on the bus so I counted how many black quilted outer wear garments there were, it was around 30!

I've often commented on the sea of padded coat black! I can always be spotted as the lone individual in a brightly coloured coat, which makes it easy for DH to find me when I wander off!!

The main thing is does it suit you? Any woman can wear anything as long as it suits her.

Personally I don’t like the “look at me, aren’t I quirky” thing. I certainly know someone who does it for attention & it’s tedious. However, wearing what you genuinely like is great. Enjoy your jacket!

It's really nice and you're definitely not too old for these jackets. Go for it! 😁

Life's too short to care about what others think. If you love it, get it.

This 👆 this is the youngest you’re ever going to be (speaking as a nearly 66-year-old woman). Wear what feels right for your taste and personality, not for someone else opinions!

From the sound of op she doesn’t sound as though she’s desperate to be looked at. On the contrary. she’s worried about standing out or being too old. Age has nothing to do with trying to shock.
