@Theteapotsbrokenspout I like that waistcoat. I’m waiting to see if the drop a cream one because it looks like the model is wearing one under the black cotton linen jacket I bought a few weeks ago. The jacket is the one they’re saying is new but we’ve seen previously, even if in maybe a different fabric composition.
I was wondering if the waistcoat gapes around the arm holes or sides…. No one needs to see my bra or pudgy bits 😂

Snowyowl78 · 14/03/2025 17:14

@AmethystMoonShine that was last years version and it’s called Cotton Linen Canvas Waistcoat Top | Wood Ash. You could ask toast if they have any left? It went into the sale

Countmeout · 14/03/2025 19:00

The wood ash waistcoat has been a very useful item.

For anyone interested these are navy not slate. I have been so taken with the check trousers I’ve bought these.very pleased they are navy.

I love the look of these. Glad to hear you like them.

ScottishMouse · 16/03/2025 06:43

@Countmeout those trousers are the only thing tempting me in the current collection. Are they the same style.fit as the other check ones - blue this year, red & green last year? They looked a bit clown-like on me when I tried the red ones last year, but maybe theshe would be more subtle.

Countmeout · 16/03/2025 08:45

Yes @ScottishMouse they are basically the same trouser. I think the colours this year tones them down a bit. They really work with the navy and cream things I have. I sized down which is how I got them to work. That depends how tolerable you find a bit of a wriggle to get on and don’t expect a loose waistband. I have a lot of tolerance for that 😁.
I did think the checked ones gave in wear though. They were really comfortable by the end of my holiday and I hadn’t skimped on eating. I haven’t attempted to wash them yet so fingers crossed they don’t shrink.

I am very short of torso so appreciate the boxy jumpers but agree they should have a variety of styles as no doubt they'll change at some point and I'll be out of luck with the longer lengths.

I've bought their linen trousers for years now, full price and in sale but the recent price jumps (leaps really) have finally priced me out. I sent my most recent pair back due to the inner leg seam coming apart, bought same style on Vinted to discover the same issue! For £140 or so that's really ridiculous.

ScottishMouse · 14/03/2025 11:33

I’m glad (but also not glad) to see I’m not the only one not keen on much at the moment. I went to try on some trousers this week and ended up trying on a lot of things (mostly to take note for sale time), and nothing worked, for one reason or another. I’ve noticed in the last 6-12 months that my wardrobe is less Toast-heavy (where for some years it was pretty much 100% Toast), and my favourite Toast pieces are older ones.

I'm like this. Struggling to find anything i like atm. Thought it was just me. There's not enough to keep.me going back to look at the website. Some dresses have been on forever! They never make the sale. The new things are very samey. The jumpers, which were always beautiful are all a bit boring. I found it hard to like much even in winter ( most unusual for me) I find I'm looking elsewhere for things! I agree with the prices. Everything is mostly £200.
Also Toast quality has gone downhill. I got the black pinafore dress in the sale. It's washed badly. White streaks all at the front as if the dye has moved. It's not detergent marks do no idea how to remove them. I've the indigo one and it's been fine. I'm hugely disappointed.

Stoic123 · 16/03/2025 14:39

@ScottishMouse

Falling a bit out of love here too. I'm still enjoying my older Toast items but I've really slowed down on the new Toast clothes buying front.

PrincessofWells · 16/03/2025 17:43

I agree, I bought things in the sample sale, plus this season some denim barrells, and the denim culottes and that's it. The prices are too high.

@neveradullmoment99 have you thought about returning them? They can either be re dyed by you, or by them, although they shouldn't need to be. It's a problem with black denim and not just at Toast. Using non bio to wash in helps.

ScottishMouse · 16/03/2025 17:48

@neveradullmoment99 have you contacted Toast about it? I once had a similar problem with a poplin top and they took it back and refunded me. That was probably about 7-8 years ago though.

ScottishMouse · 16/03/2025 17:50

I have just ordered the navy (slate) check trousers to try @Countmeout. I ordered my usual size and a smaller one too. I don’t really need them so they will need to be excellent to stay.

mizu · 16/03/2025 18:13

I took an item to be mended today and bought the splatter soap dish which is lovely. I didn’t try anything on but liked the look of the denim patch pocket dungaree dress (another denim dress 🧐) and the wave striped knitted top.

I really love the pinafore and don't really want to return it. I will try re-washing it and see how I get on. If it doesn't go then I guess its a dye job. Really annoying though even though I bought it in the Christmas sale.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/03/2025 20:21

Thanks for the tip on the non bio. Will definitely see how that goes. Thanks :)

Countmeout · 17/03/2025 12:43

Has everyone got the email with the live in it?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 17/03/2025 13:17

Yes, but it’s not really live is it?

faustina · 17/03/2025 13:25

I just watched the live not live. A lot of the pieces looked a bit ...flat? Maybe it was the presentation. Nikki was so good at that!

Countmeout · 17/03/2025 14:08

No the not live live indeed. To be fair I liked seeing some of the items on it. I love the washi skirt and green T.
I love the poplin dress like the last tunic but it would have to be a sale purchase. I also felt it needed sized down on the model.
I liked the cream skirt but probably not practical or flattering for me and i like that blue top.

I think it was better than the previous live (not live) with the new buyer. But it is very controlled as there are no comments from those watching. However they did have a range of models - did they give sizes, I watched very quickly and intend to go back later for another look in more detail.
But Nikki is irreplaceable.

faustina · 17/03/2025 15:28

@Countmeout - the range of different sized people was good, but no they didn't have sizes or heights. I was trying to see how tall the woman in the green dress was (I liked that dress)

Snowyowl78 · 17/03/2025 17:42

I can see the live? Anyone got a link?

Snowyowl78 · 17/03/2025 18:35

@Theteapotsbrokenspout that works thanks!

Countmeout · 17/03/2025 20:12

Do you mean the green poplin shirt dress @faustina . I tried to ask on chat what size it was and what size she wore but I managed to cut myself off as I was trying to prepare dinner at the same time and am none the wiser.

faustina · 17/03/2025 20:19

@Countmeout - yes I did! It was nice because it seemed versatile and also didn't seem to swamp her (very easily done when you're not tall).

It's meant to be warmer here in a day or two which I'm really looking forward to - so many things I haven't worn yet because it's been so cold and grim! I wore a beautiful indigo quilted jacket I bought from another Toastie on our FB group today but I was freezing 😞
