For me it was a product I didn’t want to like as it’s very pricey and I had thought over the years it was just a gimmick. Plus I had a really good skincare routine before I started using them (essence, HA serum, vit C, peptide cream, SPF, tretinoin, acid actives etc) and I didn’t really see that I could get much more positive effect than with what I was already using.
But wow, these little capsules (god they’re fiddly and annoying) of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide oil/serum have massively improved my skin just adding it in as an additional layer after my other serums and before my peptide cream. My crepey under eye skin has completely smoothed out and fine lines on my forehead have gone. My skin tone looks more even and skin looks plumper definitely. I’m also less oily throughout the day. I’m gobsmacked given that it’s such a small amount in the capsule.
Only downside is now I have to find the money to include them in my routine ongoing!

What have you found recently that has been an absolute game changer?

Hmm I feel as though the EA will be a mistake purchase for me.

GG1986 · 31/01/2025 22:11

Estee lauder zero smudge lengthening mascara. I have tried so many mascaras over the years, even waterproof ones and all of them smudge and I get black circles under my eyes, I have oily skin so I'm sure that's probably why it happens. But this estee lauder is the only one that doesn't cause that, it's literally amazing!! A little pricey, so I buy when on offer or when there is a free gift offer on the estee lauder website. I don't think I will ever use a different mascara now.

Rattai · 01/02/2025 15:06

I'm really loving the EA capsules. My skin feels great

Lifestooshort71 · 01/02/2025 16:03

Someone on here recommended Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner so I bought some. I'm 72 and skin bit wrinkly, patchy brown spots and the odd blemish but not bad as such. I've used the tonic each day for a week (only v faint tingling so took a chance on overdoing it) and already it looks better! Plumper and a bit glowy. It's a large bottle with an odd unscrew-type cap, I put a bit in one palm and just dab it on - it's the consistency of water so inclined to dribble if I'm not careful! Anyway, thank you to whoever recommended it upthread!

Peridot1 · 01/02/2025 17:31

@Lifestooshort71 - just be careful. I did similar with a glycolic toner a few years ago and all was ok until suddenly it wasn’t! I wrecked my skin barrier and it took me a while to sort it. Even if it seems ok now it can take time for your skin to really react. Maybe drop back down to every second day.

Sally Hansen Nail and cuticle oil.
I have suffered from weak and split nails all my life. Tried all the vitamin supplements, paint on nail strengtheners and hardeners - no change.
For the first time in my life I am having to cut and file them. Just paint it on and rub it in. You will s ee a difference in a month or so. And very cheap to buy.

Lauraanddogs · 01/02/2025 18:28

L’Oréal Glotion, brushed over the top of your normal make up to finish looks stunning!

I have the same problem but they didn't work for me. I have some Margaret Dabbs nail strengthener which seems to be helping but it's early days. It's funny how things work for some people and not others.

I'm hoping to join you with the cutting and filing soon.

I’ve been on a quest for the perfect serum for me. I don’t like the clear watery ones. I prefer a white slightly creamy one, light enough to use around my eyes and with hyaluronic acid to hydrate my ‘mature’ skin. I seem to have found it in The INKEY List Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum for only £15 for 30ml!

BreatheAndFocus · 01/02/2025 19:03

Clinique High Impact tubing mascara. I’d spurned tubing mascaras before and almost always wore normal waterproof mascaras, but this is a revelation. No itchy, sore eyes and it comes off so easily - and it’s fine in the rain.

Does hair count? If so, similarly to you, a product so so expensive, but also a game changer. Kérastase Nutritive Nourishing Hair Serum which is a night treatment, and Kérastase Première Anti-Frizz Filler Heat Protecting Hair Serum for the day. My menopausal hair is fine and becomes frizzy and pouffy, and I have tried everything to tame the frizz. These two products have made a massive difference. They're pricey but they will last ages as I only need to use less than a pea-sized drop for my below shoulders-length hair.

I use this too for my highlighted perimenopausal hair and it’s fabulous!

I bought a bottle at the start of August and it’s still not finished! I was and blow dry my hair most days too!

Ace7 · 01/02/2025 19:06

L’Oréal Elvive bond repair sert-pre shampoo treatment, shampoo, conditioner and serum. My hair has never been in better condition.

I just got the L’Oréal dupe version of the kerastase night serum and it’s very good! Really reduced the frizz.

What’s it called please?

I adore the miracle balms from Jones Road. The formulation takes some getting used to (think a less sticky Vaseline!) but it makes me look awake and great 😄

Oh, I wish I could agree. The Miracle Balm from Jones Road that I bought has become my most expensive lip gloss. I just could not get on with the sticky texture. I do, however, love the Jones Road foundation.

Pitstopperils · 01/02/2025 21:08

As someone who has been using K beauty for over ten years, I jumped onto the VT Reedle shot bandwagon last year. It's like microneedling in a serum - no device needed. I use level 50 twice a week and 100 one a week. The results are impressive.

Have you tried Clinque zero gravity? I also have the same problem and get panda eyes with every mascara known to man including waterproof ones but this never does and makes lashes so long and curled! Also to add my products-definitely collagen (I use ancient&brave), tret via dermatica is my complete game changer but takes a few months to show any results however it really reallt works! And make up wise erborian BB cream-I always get strangers asking what foundation etc I am wearing when I have this on. Their CC eye cream is amazing too!
Also have to agree that the Victoria Beckham eyeliners-I have black, cocoa and the gold one but apart from the gold one they always smudge under my eyes! They are ok as an eyeliner on top line but if I go to do anything with them on my undereyes I get such bad panda eyes.

StrikeAlways · 01/02/2025 21:30

Actually, although I’m loving my aforementioned Inky Serum, my best find has been a shampoo and conditioner. I have fine, straight, post-menopausal hair. I have tried all sorts of expensive brands in attempts to give it a bit more body. None helped much. I saw John Frieda Profiller & Thickening Shampoo and also the conditioner advertised on TV and thought at supermarket prices, why not give it a go. It’s been a complete game changer. It’s just the bees knees and only £9 a bottle!

Errorcreatingusername · 01/02/2025 21:56

Nuxe lip balm for me. I got the sweet lemon one and it smells divine! Made my lips buttery soft and gives the most beautiful sheen. I just wore it bare with no lipgloss or lipstick. You only need a little bit though as it makes your lips look white if you use too much

I didn’t find any good products in 2024 either. But I think that’s because I used to experiment more in the previous years and found lots of good products that I still use.

Still on the lookout for a good shampoo for fine hair. My scalp tends to get dry and flakey while my hair gets oily fast. I used to love the System Professional Balance shampoo but I think it’s been discontinued.

Have you tried Christophe Robin salt scrub? Works wonders for my flaky and oily hair

Not me but someone to whom I gave Laneige Lip Mask for Christmas has told me it's now their Holy Grail for lips as they've struggled with seriously sore chapped lips for a long time and they won't be without it now.
Sorry if it's been mentioned already - just found this thread and need to go back and read it all.
I wish I could say some of my 2024 purchases for myself have been "WOW" but nothing stands out.

I was just coming on here to say Laneige Lip Sleeping Masks - they are sooo good! Also Boots future renew serum and day/ night cream - can’t remember the last time I finished a whole tub of something but my skin is noticeably different as a result

@Peridot1 how did you know it was your skin barrier and what did you do to help it get back to normal? My skin has gone bananas recently.

I got these on a trial and thought they were great but found out they are not cruelty free so wont use them.

Clinique isnt cruelty free either so a no go for me.

Do they contain silicon or not? I do think it’s important to consider which products are cruelty free too.
