How much swimwear do you take on holiday with you?

I am away for 10 days in the Caribbean in March, and I am wondering how much swimwear to bring with me, and it got me thinking… I wonder how much other women typically bring with them?

2 bikinis.

kiana2015 · 12/01/2025 16:14

Usually I'd bring a bikini/swimsuit for each day but I would always end up only wearing maybe 4/5 and rewearing

DecafDodger · 12/01/2025 16:15

for 10 days I'd take probably 3 bikinis

Alwaystired23 · 12/01/2025 16:16

I went abroad for 7 days last year and took 3 swimsuits. I take travel hand wash with me, so I tend to wash out all our swimwear every evening.

Printedword · 12/01/2025 16:17

Slightly different temperatures. I take 3-4 tankini type swimwear sets and a wetsuit to Cornwall, plus beach shoes and 2-3 beach towels

turkeyboots · 12/01/2025 16:17

I have 3 bikinis and always swear I'll buy more before I go away again. But I always forget and end up with a wet bottom all day.
When I am organised I will buy 2 bottoms for evey top and have enough for.4 days.

After arriving on holiday once only to discover my one old swimsuit had perished, I now take all the swimsuits! Last holiday I took four and I'm not one of those who changes after every swim. Realistically though, two would be fine.

dementedpixie · 12/01/2025 16:20

3 Bikinis usually

Thistooshallpass. · 12/01/2025 16:21

5 bikinis and coverups

Cyclingmummy1 · 12/01/2025 16:22

2 bikinis and a swimsuit for exercise classes.

Runingoncaffeine · 12/01/2025 16:23

I feel like 3 bikinis and 1 swimsuit feels about right!
I also tend to hand wash mine out there. It’s for my wedding & honeymoon, so I might treat myself to an extra one!

Ahem I dont ger Why anyone would ever need more than one bikini or swimsuit? I always only bring one and never had any problems. I wear it, take it off and let it dry and put it on later again. When I’m in a very warm palace the sun dried it quickly while I’m wearing it, and if in colder climates I don’t tend to hang around for ages in swimwear, I swim, sit a bit in the sun and get dressed and that’s it

Different Outfits I guess…

Four or five. I like to be able to change into a dry one after lunch and also like to have different options for straps/shoulder coverage in case I get burnt.

Exactly this, I like at least one strapless one, and one swimsuit for activities or proper swimming.

For a two-week beach holiday I would bring 5 to 7 bikinis.

SnidelyWhiplash · 12/01/2025 16:29

I’m also going to Caribbean for 10 days in March. It’s a holiday we do every year and I take a bikini or swim suit for every day. First year we did it, I took 3 and realised that was not enough.

TheTruthHurtsDontIt · 12/01/2025 16:30

I'm going away for two weeks soon and I'm taking five bikinis, all of the tops and bottoms can be mixed and matched so I have loads of combo option depending on my mood or how much I want to swim.

Naturally this is Mumsnet so no doubt you'll soon meet the person who is horrified at the idea of having more than one, and whose single 20 year old swimsuit would do them just fine for a four week break at a waterpark thank you vaaaair much.

StarlightLady · 12/01/2025 16:33

2 bikini bottoms, one top. Rarely wear the top.

CrushingOnRubies · 12/01/2025 16:35

3 or 4 👙 & 🩱

One to wear in the morning and one to wear after lunch. Hate putting on wet swimwear

Then a couple to mix it up a bit or if the ones the day before aren't totally dry.

Also they have different straps and cleaveagr cuts. Depending on how much sun I've had and things

Ineedaholidayyyy · 12/01/2025 16:35

Similar to you, I'd probably pack 2 swimsuits and 2 bikinis for that length of holiday.

Lol did it occur to you not everyone is swimming in money? Some
of us can’t throw away cash at five bikinis. Politely, I’d be nice to have five bikinis but to me, it’s not something I’d prioritize. If spending on clothes I’d rather spend on clothes I’d get wear out more frequently. So the question isn’t how much swimwear do you NEED to bring, to which the reasonable answer is one piece, but rather how much do you typically bring, I guess because the OP is worried about not keeping up with standards of Caribbean travel

Spanielsaremad · 12/01/2025 16:39

I take 2 for a 7 day holiday.

BobbyBiscuits · 12/01/2025 16:40

When I go to hot countries where there's a beach and access to a pool I pretty much live in swimwear, so for a week I'd have three/4 bikinis and a swimsuit. Then literally just few shorts and vests to go on top. Maybe one or two kaftan type dresses. I never even pack regular underwear!

Ohnonotmeagain · 12/01/2025 16:42

2 swimsuits and two rash vests. So I always have a dry one to wear.
