A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

New 'shop from wardrobe' outfit chosen after wearing my yellow birthday jumper and yellow patterned leggings for the whole week and was not bored.

Baukjen indigo jeans, Dilling lilac merino roll neck and Dilling black merino cardigan.

DH says the jeans look a bit too flared but I like them.

Also had a minor relapse, but is just about acceptable. I did run this past DH, that if I found something I really liked in the sales, it could be my Christmas present from him and we could hide it away until December 2025!

And then I saw this cardigan on offer, which I'd had my eye on for ages, which was even more reduced by a £15 birthday voucher they'd sent me and there was free delivery. And I couldn't resist the green/pink colour combinations: www.genevievesweeney.com/product/alloa-cardigan-lambswool-limepink/

Have a broken my promise to myself (an Xmas present from DH was within my rules).

I like the men's dress shirt @AgathaMystery - v.cool.

@Netcam - thank you, and I love seeing your use of colour. Not something I have particularly got to grips with myself - hence the tonal outfits, or black and white. But I love colours on others.

There was an amazing CEO / entrepreneur at a conference a few years ago. As well as her brilliance and passion, I still remember and often think back to her outfit: white blouse, coral / red trousers, cropped muted turquoise jacket, red lipstick. No jewellery. She looked modern, striking and fabulous.

Today's outfit. Casual Friday, all-afternoon offsite so I want to be cosy and comfortable.

@tonybennscat, welcome pleased you have joined. Hope we can inspire each other.

@WillaDeWord. Thanks, I've started to realise I love colour, but colour and natural fabrics are also my downfall when it comes to buying clothes.

If there is something in a colour I like in a quality natural fabric that I think will go with some other things in my wardrobe I can't resist.

And because I have so many different colours in my wardrobe that makes it even harder and I end up with even more clothes.

I think it's the artist in me. I did an art degree and worked in the arts for sometime, although I have a different job now.

@netcam thank you. My style is quite boring I think though I love colour too. Merino or cashmere jumpers are my downfall.
An art degree would have been my dream when I was younger. I love painting and drawing and I’m not too bad at it but never had the confidence back then. Did something very boring instead.

Today I am wearing a pale grey long Woolovers jumper which must be about 8 years old , M&S girlfriend jeans and silver trainers. Silver cashmere snood from JL and a mid grey Borg coat. All the greys.

You're definitely in good company here. Lots of us knitwear lovers around. There's something so special about a beautifully textured cashmere or wool jumper.

I actually didn't find my art degree that exciting and later wished I'd done something more intellectually challenging. I ended up doing a Masters in Computing in my 40s which led to a career change that I actually find more interesting.

Lovely to hear about your clothes, do post some pictures. Some of us use a clothing app to store our wardrobe, which helps us 'shop' from it.

@Netcam Funnily enough I've just retired after nearly 40 years in Computing/IT.

How interesting. What did you do?

Database Administration/Architect mostly. Loved it.

Cantonet · 03/02/2025 20:10

@tonybennscat welcome to the thread.
I'm another Cashmere lover & have several ( lots!) collected over the years.
I've attached my last two days of outfits. Unfortunately I fell over dog walking yesterday & ended up with a muddy puffer, a grazed hand full of gravel, a wrenched shoulder & a busted knee after sliding downhill on my front.
I was so shocked I had to get Dh to rescue me. Today has been spent largely recovering 😢

Netcam · 04/02/2025 09:05

@Cantonet, hope you recover soon. You seem to have a huge collection of cashmere from what I can tell. Mine is small, but complimented by a large collection of wool.

@tonybennscat, nice to see women in IT. I'm one of the 2 female developers where I work.

I was the only woman on a team of 11 in my last job. It was much better when I started in the 80s in terms of the number of women around.

Today I’m supposed to be volunteering in a local gardens which means jeans and a sweatshirt (supplied by them, I hate sweatshirt material), merino vest and wellies and waterproofs but I’ve just heard it’s been cancelled due to wind and rain so will get changed back into the grey Woolovers jumper I had on yesterday.
Got a drawing class later so won’t need to change for that.

TosstTastic · 04/02/2025 19:03

Nothing but dog walking and the supermarket this last week between projects.
Did get a bit itchy to look at websites, one of my favourites is closing. Scratched the itch by adding more photos to Whering. I'm amazed at how many things, even bought four or five years ago, I can track down the sales pictures for.
In the app,.nearly all my clothes are ironed, except a favourite pair of trousers really letting the collage down.

WillaDeWord · 06/02/2025 07:38

I have been snowed under the last few days, including some work travel so am a little late logging in (but you have probably all already seen most of my usual work and play outfits!).

Can't seem to add a photo of today's outfit right now, presume because of the child porn incident. But: teal suit, cream sleeveless polo, gold and tan brooch, gold earrings, my usual tan coat and some tan pointed slingbacks.

Can I join? I’ve been following the thread since it started and I’ve been doing no/low buy since Sept last year. I’m saving up to do a John Lewis personal shopper appointment. Never heard of Whering before this thread but have enjoyed uploading some items and creating outfits. Here’s a few of my recent ones:

Welcome. I love your green cardigan/top black trousers/boots outfit. Great colours and style. Are you sure you need to go to John Lewis to help you choose what to wear?

Nice to see all your pictures again after a very busy week at work (well, WFH).

Actually I've worn this every day this week, with different merino long sleeved tops underneath. Jumper and cardigan are both merino from Dilling.

Not bored though and really enjoying
these Baukjen wide legged jeans which were new at the end of 2024 and the first time I've worn them.

Welcome to the thread@DaisyYellowGold .
It's good to be able to post some visual images again. @Netcam I really like those jeans with the lilac jumper.

WillaDeWord · 07/02/2025 20:45

Pictures are back! Phew. Welcome @DaisyYellowGold and @tonybennscat - may you be inspired by others' outfits on this thread, but not so inspired that you end up going out and buying more clothes...

A marginally more boho look than usual for me today (working at home for what feels like the first time in a while...).

Somewhat predictably, @Cantonet, I really like your neutral / beige / burnt orange outfit.

This is me at a wedding a couple of days ago. Dress is One Hundred Stars; coat was worn by my granny in 1963 to my parents' wedding; boots were John Lewis about 15 years ago; handbag was 20 euros in Venice in 2005; earrings are Vestopazzi and I bought them in Valencia last summer. Stick, model's own!

Very chic @SqueakyDinosaur. I love the history behind the coat - 1963 and it still looks so modern.

@SqueakyDinosaur you look beautiful! Love the colours together

anon2022anon · 08/02/2025 09:25

I'm having a grand time uploading to Indyx at the moment. Interestingly, it appears that most of my summer wardrobe has been bought online, so the actual items can be screenshot (and look much better!), whereas my winter wardrobe seems to be picked up in store, or secondhand/ charity shop/ Vinted.
I don't know why I find that interesting, but I do!
That does mean that I've uploaded a whole load of summer stuff that's not currently being worn, but not much of the stuff I'm actually wearing 😁

radiatorcat · 08/02/2025 09:37

You all have such flair pulling clothes together. Genuinely. Such lovely outfits here.

I've slipped into a rut of jeans and one of my husband's jumpers 🙈 every day.

I've also gained weight which affects the way my clothes look on me, but I can't afford to replace them.

So ... I'm going to try lose the weight, and continue to be inspired by you all. I would love to have a wardrobe with staples like @SqueakyDinosaur that lasts decades and stands up to the horrible pressure of fashion trends.

I'm not sure my existing wardrobe has much in it of 'style' . I'm realising I don't shop with a birds eye view at all. My shopping is 'event driven' and usually in a rush.
