in 2024!

Lighthearted!

Loafers with everything from jeans to dresses with ankle socks.

The leggings and socks combo.

I have yet to see anyone walking around in 2024 in a pencil skirt and stilettos. Although there's still a week left. I didn't even know they were a current fashion item

Agree

Henrythehappypig · 24/12/2024 13:04

Anything that starts with the word “coated” (with the exception of actual coats).

Agree

There is a woman in my office who wears this, i don't know her, different department and I only go in occasionally. She is probably in her 50's and appears to have got to 1980 and thought that is it I have found my look, including hair. I think she looks absolutely fabulous. I like to think that she does something completely wild appearance wise when not in the office.

Or worse the all in one flesh coloured lycra outfit. I saw a young woman at work wearing one and genuinely did a double take as it looked like she was naked.

It didn't leave much to the imagination so she almost may as well have been

I went to the races in the summer. A woman was wearing a skin tone body suit, sadly she just looked like an uncooked sausage. Not flattering.

Pumpkincozynights · 24/12/2024 15:57

I like midi dresses. They are a good length for me. Smart yet practical.
I don’t like dresses that come above my knee.
I also wear a long puffer coat. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. It is incredibly warm and as I do a lot of walking, I have to have a very warm, insulated coat.

henlake7 · 24/12/2024 19:33

I dont get the trend for giant logos.
I mean nobody is excited to have a Tesco bag for life and yet a hoodie with White Fox or Adanola on is apparently the mutts nutts.
weird.....

Callingallbutterflies · 24/12/2024 19:52

Ugg boots have been around for years. Hardly a 2024 fashion. And yes I have a pair on the go. Just like I have since 2007.

'The mutt's nutts'? Love it! Never heard that expression before!😂

That Trinny and Susannah thing of wearing trousers under dresses and also wearing trousers that are so long that it looks like you don't have feet. Victoria Beckham still does the No Feet thing.

The trousers hem trailing the ground I always think they must get wrecked.

dayslikethese1 · 25/12/2024 06:11

I don't think I hate any of these mentioned except crocs and flesh coloured/scrunch leggings. I do hate kitten heels but think that trend has passed by a while back.

BigDahliaFan · 25/12/2024 08:50

Flesh coloured scrunch bum leggings/legging/unitards. All just eyepoppingly awful.

MotherWol · 25/12/2024 10:36

Sliders/slippers outside of the house
‘Brat’ green
The return of Juicy Couture and Maharishi embroidered cargo pants - generally I like the 90s revival but not this!

I'm tall and I'm loving this trend. If I didn't have lampost legs I'd be annoyed by it too, but for the first time in my life I can get almost any trousers I like and know they'll fit. I'm going to make the most of this in the sales and buy enough to last me the next thirty years. 😀

Floral dresses, especially those polyester tiered monstrosities.
Every woman in my neighborhood seems to wear one, with a denim jacket, white trainers and a cross body bag. It's like a uniform. So ugly.

Is your neighbourhood 2021?? 😆

This really bugs me. Im the average height (5'5) and yet according to nearly all shops the average women is 6ft tall and made entirely of legs!
I feel like having your trousers trailing on the ground isnt so much a trend as a commentary on how nobody knows how to hem trousers anymore!

I havent been a fan of the cowboy trend either. It feels abit dress up to me (maybe next year will be spaceman year!!LOL).

Loafers are elegant. Worn by some of the most beautiful and elegant women in the world. If they are good enough for them...!!

The women in question could have worn a bin bag, beige leggings and abattoir wellies and look elegant. Loafers are ugly.

Waistcoats as a top!

I used to wear waistcoats as a top when I was 15/16 back in the 90s, I'd put it with denim cut offs and my doc marten boots.

Well, like them or not, loafers have a place in the canon as smart-looking semi-formal shoes that don’t have heels, and I’m grateful to them for that.

I’ve never liked the fussy Italian sort with tassels, mind you.

KnittedFerret · 31/12/2024 11:48

@SophieStrange , I have smart (semi-)formal shoes that don't have heels, and there are loafers that aren't ugly. I like lace-up shoes as I find the fit better.

AnnunciataM · 31/12/2024 12:35

A trend specific to 2024 that I cant get on board with is the horseshoe jean. Why would you want to look like you've either got rickets or been on a horse for a week?

KnittedFerret · 31/12/2024 14:28

They just look like jeans that don't fit.

Everlygreen · 31/12/2024 15:45

Oversized anything. Makes a bigger size person look even bigger and a petite person look like a clown dressing up in adult clothes. Not to mention looks scruffy and untidy. Just why ?

Everlygreen · 31/12/2024 15:46

Gilets- pointless pieces of clothes. Yes I'll be warmer with my body covered and arms freezing thanks.

KnittedFerret · 31/12/2024 15:53

Those awful huge jackets.

Melancholyflower · 23/12/2024 19:52

So many people not bothering to think about trends specific to 2024 and just naming fashions/clothing items/shoes they don't like.🙄

Someone always says "cold shoulder tops". Which haven't been in shops for at least 5 years and were around for one brief summer.
