in 2024!

Lighthearted!

Loafers with everything from jeans to dresses with ankle socks.

The leggings and socks combo.

Someone 20 years younger than me informed me that fleeces are now fashionable... something to do with TikTok. She was rocking the beigest fleece I ever saw. Looked awful!

Still, DH will finally be fashionable if this is true 🤣

So many people not bothering to think about trends specific to 2024 and just naming fashions/clothing items/shoes they don't like.🙄

And a male poster using it as a way to dig at women's appearances, whilst also ignoring the actual point of the question. 😏

SabrinaToolmaker · 24/12/2024 00:01

Also adding bad officewear as fashion. Do not get that at all.

ALittleHumptyDumpty · 24/12/2024 00:04

Shorts so short you can see them pockets from underneath. Underneath!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 24/12/2024 00:15

At the moment it’s the sportswear trend. It all oversized, too.

People look like they’ve been rummaging through the lost property box from PE.

It’s nice that they’re comfortable though.

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 24/12/2024 00:21

Dresses and tops with three large ornamental bows on the front.

Stichintime · 24/12/2024 00:22

Showing top of tights and sometimes thongs if travelling up stairs/escalator behind.

Loafers are elegant. Worn by some of the most beautiful and elegant women in the world. If they are good enough for them...!!

They’re not good enough for me, because I think they are ugly. Particularly those around now, rather than decades ago.

henlake7 · 24/12/2024 11:53

I agree on the oversized thing.
I mean its nice if its just a size or two bigger but I see people wearing things insanely large, it just looks like you lost tons of weight and havent replaced your wardrobe yet. (Im a 10 and my work cardie is a size 24...its because I CBA getting a new one, not coz I think I look fashionable!).

Barrel legged jeans. Do we want to look like we have rickets?

Scarf coats. These feel like a flash in the pan to me. Surely at some point you are going to wish you had both items seperately?

Lol at the barrel leg jeans comment!!

I really don’t understand this trend - I feel like barely anyone is pulling it off as well…!!

rainbowbee · 24/12/2024 12:01

Not a clothing item but the big huge duck lips! I think they look so cheap and silly.

WeRateSquirrels · 24/12/2024 12:09

The inexplicable continuing popularity of frilly, ruffly, voluminous, too long, statement sleeved horror frocks.

Trainers except for exercise.

All the beige.

Illegally18 · 24/12/2024 12:11

Violetparis · 23/12/2024 20:37

Big puffy sleeves.

I agree. So unflattering on a grown woman. So pretty on a little girl.

SharpOpalNewt · 23/12/2024 22:27

Boxy tops. They don't suit anyone.

Except, as a running joke in my house goes, General Eisenhower. (Who, if you didn’t know, had the tails cut off his uniform jacket to make getting in and out of vehicles easier, inventing the box jacket.)

Also, loafers and even boat shoes are fine, both preferably with socks. Nice argyle or stripey ones if you can find them. The whole Ivy look deserves to be protected as literally the only coherent women’s style of dress that is comfy and practical. (No surprise it’s basically menswear co-opted by the first generation of women to attend university.)

Those knitted head band things that look like part of a woolly hat. How is that going to keep your head warm ??

I prefer the headbands especially if I’m on a night out. My ears get really cold, so much so that it aches and the band keeps them warm but my hair stays bouncy and doesn’t get flat.

StiggyZardust · 24/12/2024 12:32

Leggings with short tops. Far too revealing.

namechangeGOT · 24/12/2024 12:34

High waisted jeans. In fact, anything high waisted.

Purplepeopleeaterz · 24/12/2024 12:35

The wide leg leopard print jeans, mostly worn by fellow middle aged women. That’s one trend I’m never succumbing too as I just don’t get the appeal.

BobbyBiscuits · 24/12/2024 12:39

Leggings in general. Why do people say they are comfortable? To me they're just as constrictive as tights.
Men in suits with ankle swinging trousers, that hoik up close enough to the knees when seated. See Rishi Sunak. I guess he ruined Adidas trainers as well.
The french crop. Just why?
Heels on fat feet. With buckles that look like they're squeezing the foot in half. It just looks so uncomfortable!
Leather or pleather trousers on either sex or any age.

SophieStrange · 24/12/2024 12:40

Oh, and judging by my younger relatives, matching hoodies and sweatpants have come back when I’d rather they had stayed buried in the 1990s.

EmotionalSupportBiscuit · 24/12/2024 12:44

Burgundy. Just nope.

It was the worst part of my school uniform in 1984 (gym skirt, leotard, jumper; the rest was navy). I hated it then and have never worn it since.

WorriedRelative · 24/12/2024 12:47

Bignanna · 23/12/2024 19:30

Flesh coloured skin tight leggings- hilarious to see a seemingly half naked person walking along the street!

Or worse the all in one flesh coloured lycra outfit. I saw a young woman at work wearing one and genuinely did a double take as it looked like she was naked.

It didn't leave much to the imagination so she almost may as well have been

FenellaFeldman · 24/12/2024 12:49

Floral dresses, especially those polyester tiered monstrosities.
Every woman in my neighborhood seems to wear one, with a denim jacket, white trainers and a cross body bag. It's like a uniform. So ugly.

IsThePopeCatholic · 23/12/2024 22:13

Stilettos
pencil skirts
crop tops

I have yet to see anyone walking around in 2024 in a pencil skirt and stilettos. Although there's still a week left. I didn't even know they were a current fashion item

MissAtomicBomb1 · 24/12/2024 12:59

Grassgarden · 23/12/2024 22:12

I don't think people who wear dryrobes think they are fashionable, they are just amazing for watching kids play football/walking the dog.

Genuine question - why are they any better or different to wearing a coat?
(Obviously I realise their advantages on the beach!)
